Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
i don't think it will really hit you until the wedding or quite possibly even after.. i agree w/ you about feeling so natural about it.. when FH and I got engaged, I felt so calm and collected, though in some pics I could have smiled a bit more.. but I didn't feel overly excited or nervous.. and I'm sure or rather hope that I'll feel the same way on our wedding..

we all will be thinking of you and sending lots of good wishes and calm vibes your way!!!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
hi girls, yahhh everyone is planning is almost done.
Craznan, I really hope i am calm as you when its my turn.
I just have a few lil stuff to do. like umm book the florist. I haven't done it yet cause the owner is on vacation and he won't be back till feb so i guess by mid feb that should be done. I was just not comfortable booking with the people in his shop.
I have to find a make up person
Then its off to do the final stuff.
My cardbox needs to be put together, i want to do my own table numbers and placecards.
I am having buffet dinner at my reception. do you think its cheesy to have card stating what dish it is?

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Hey Guys,Nancy- I've been to weddings before where Ashish or Arun (AKA Juicy) have djed. I am going with Sharad too and I requested either him, ashish or arun for my wedding. Do you also have an MC?
GT- I am going with Sumati for Hair and Make up. FM me and I'll give you the details. She's in new hyde park and will only work with you that day. Plus no games, like reserving the date for you and then send her assistant.
Also, I just found out that you can rent the card box. We are going to rent ours from the Mandap/Decorations person.
How's everyone's planning going? I am still waiting for the invitations and BMs dresses, they are coming from india.
Also is anyone doing programs for the ceremony?

Gt.. not at all crazy.. usually when it is buffet, the caterers provide tags for each item.. you could always customize it to make it follow your theme!!You have 2 months.. so everything is doable!!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
I'm planning on programs.. but I've been procrastinating on the DIY's..
our cardbox is from the decorators as well.. I think she is throwing it in..
now only if the mandap and flowers were thrown in...

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Yeah, I specifically requested Marco as my MC because I really like the way he gets everybody involved and if Sharad is not going to Dj himself then we requested I think his name was Arun because he speaks Punjabi well.We are not doing programs, no point. We didn't make our own table numbers and placecards. The hall has their own and we just wrote out the names in calligraphy pens on the placecards. They don't look too bad and plus, people throw them out anyway, why waste money.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
I think i am going to make my own cake topper. like one of those blingy ones. actually, FH is going to make it. He just doesn't know it yet!My cardbox just needs to be put together. We got different fabrics and on one of the fabric i got embroidery with our names on it! It came out soo beautiful. Even the guy at the stand was like wow this is hot! In other words BEAUTIFUL.
Now, i saw coloring books. I think i want these to keep those brats quiet during the speeches but FH is like where do come up with these things.
I really really need to work on the prints for the water bottles. ughh its hard
I have to also finish my registry at Macys. I think the shower is in 3 wks

Yeah, same here. Our guy is doing the mandap, flowers, sangeet decorations and he threw in horse decorations and card box. I didn't realize how expensive this stuff gets. I went to elegant affairs for a quote and it was insane.I'm going this weekend to look at program people, I will let you know the deals so won't be as shocked when you go. I've been shocked with pricing for almost everything i seen.

I will just have the waiters hand them out after they are seated. Coloring books with crayons. But i am going to customize them with our names. I wish i can find a bride and groom in indian gear so they can color that instead of the american one.

I wish somebody had thought of this a few weeks ago so I could get them customized, now I'll just go to the dollar store and get a bunch of books and crayons.

Ok, mom hates the idea of coloring books, so we are a no-go on that!! I liked it but oh well, whatever, she says she would rather let them run a muck!!
