some girls actually do like really nice candles arrangement instead of flowers. I agree flowers are expensive and just a waste.

yeah, alot of the candle centerpieces look so nice!!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

What do you girls recommend - I'm doing my own center pieces - tall - but want flowers at the base - 10 per table - should i do it myself or go through a florist - local for this? I don't want to spend much on it at all - but will probably end up getting boutenneires for the men and a floral pin for the moms as well.

Booking honeymoon and hotel for first night. As well as blocking hotels if necessary for guests. Are you having a program?

That's true - it is for most desi people - i'm getting married in India and having a reception here - so I was thinking of having a little thing with our story - FH and I - b/c we have a cute little one leading to the proposal - do you think anyone would read it (if it was done poetically) or would it be trash - honest opinions only!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

of course I want to share w/ the LIW girls! to make a long story short - we met at a summer internship in 2001 - became close friends - right before 9/11 (9/10) he emailed me letting me know he felt something a little more than friends - but we obviously couldn't discuss it on 9/11 and a couple of days after as we were all shook up - we finally got together the end of October - 10/26 - and 6 years later - 9/10/07 he proposed to me at the same place we first met (outside the building of our internship - they have a nice garden) - he had tons of candles and a path of rose petals - he got down on one knee - and then he had a horse & carriage take us to where we had our first date - it was magical!

well our parents wanted us to forgo the proposal because they didn't want him giving me the ring before the ceremony.. and we obliged because we didn't want them to get all hyped up about it..
