Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

I will be living with my IL's for a couple of months. What should i call them? For the past 5 yrs i managed to not call them anything! I always found ways around it. I feel weird calling them mom and dad but i feel like its the right thing to do.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

FH and FIL's live in Cali. I will be moving there after the wedding. So when i usually go visit them they are always together so i wouldn't have to use aunty/uncle or mom/dad. I guess the best thing to do is call them mom and dad. They have no daughters so i guess i should be nice

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

I know - it feels so weird to call them mom and dad - but same issue here - they have no daughters and FH is only son - I call them aunti and uncle now as well - it's going to be quite a transition to call them mom and dad - dreading the first time b/c it's going to be sooo awkward

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

i have to post this..

i was terribly sick for the past few days.. my darling FH came by to visit on Tuesday in that terrible weather just to be with me.. and drove back in that mess at night.. only for Wedensday to happen..

my dad went to work and passed out downtown.. the cops and the emt rushed him to downtown.. and called me enroute.. my brother had a late class, i was home sick but that didn't matter at that point.. my mom got home and all three of us rushed into the city.. i called FH in between and he was off and he came rushing to the hospital.. when we got there, they didn't do anything to my dad, he was in the hospital robe, cold and clammy and damn people just standing there and yapping..

anyway long story short.. FH and mom saved the day... my dad is ok, he's home resting and my mom's home too.. i'm back at work.. and my FH is my hero.. i just adore him to pieces!!

Happy Valentine's day ladies..

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Aww - i'm glad everything's ok with your dad - and FH is really acting his part - which is great!! It's so important that he comes through in the rough times - so you and your family know for sure you can count on him!
