Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!
Hi Guys,I'm back and married. Sorry it took so long to write, but we just got back from Aruba on Thursday and had a wedding in CT.
Anyhow, the wedding at JT met my expectations to the fullest. The service/bartenders were great. The bartender that was near the bridal party table was constantly serving drinks and at one point gave them a bottle of something to drink..I think one of the groomsmen tipped the guy. Also, the room looked so beautiful..the centerpieces were high and really made a difference. Also the chair covers really made a difference as well. Linda and the two bridal attendants were AWESOME. Linda constantly asked if we needed anything and guided us through the entire night..they helped me with my bussle, which was kind of a pain and they brought my slippers over to the dais..I highly recommend Linda...she was great!!!! Mike came around a few times and always asked how things were and if we had any problems to let him know...THe food was EXCELLENT..My shrimp dish was to die for and Friends and family ordered the duck and filet minon and loved it. No complaints so far!! Overall the night was amazing...The cake tasted so good. I had to change it to fondant at the last minute and was a little nervous it would taste too sugary, but so many people loved it. The bakery JT uses copied the picture I gave them to a T..it looked so beautiful. Some things did not go the way expected, but they were things that only I would notice...
Minor things:
--The harpist at the CT hour was supposed to be situated by the entrance.. She was placed all the way in the back of the room. Not sure if anyone knew she was there.
--The menus were supposed to be folded into the napkins. Instead they leaned them against the glasses. It still looked really nice though.
--The cake was supposed to be 4 layers and it was only 3.
--Lamb chops were supposed to be displayed during CT hour and were passed instead.
Bigger problems:
--We asked and paid for a specific bottle of wine to be on all of the tables. I found out by my FIL that they were not on all of the tables.
--We paid for the sherbert intermezzo and never got it.
My only advise would be to def. stay on top of your banquet manager and emphasis what you want and what you don't want...and have them write it on paper. I think I am going to call them and say something about the intermezzo and wine..both were on my contracts.
I can't wait to get some pics, so that I can post them for you guys. I know that some of my friends and family sent them to my work email and I am returning tomorrow...so I will post them asap.
I think I covered most of the major things..but if you need any advise or need feedback on something I missed..def. fm me or post it..

No regrets at all...I had such a great time and wish I could relive the night...All of the good things overtook the minor one's...like the weather and all of the people I had to deal with that day...like the JT staff/photographer/videographer were such a pleasure to be around. I actually missed being around them at the end of the night.

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!
I was wondering if any of you had thought about any other floral decorations for the dome room besides centerpieces (and flowers for the bride/groom table). Is anyone doing anything like flowers on stands by the bride/groom table, or plants or anything? Do we provide flowers for the little alcoves in the walls?

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!
Hi everyone,I just spent 2 hours going through this Thread! I am going to look at Jericho Terrace tomorrow night with my fiance and future MIL and FIL.
We have looked at a few places in Staten Island and are trying to decided where to go and the best prices.
Were looking for November 2005 (any but have prices). So far we like 2 place in Staten Island South Shore Country Club and the Vanderbilt (both gave a nice price) but after reading the reviews here I am totally looking forward to seeing the place. It seems like you get more for your money.....
Thanks for all the info on the Thread!!! its great.
Sue :)

I was thinking about it. Well, not flowers/stands, but maybe something around the dome? Like lights in tulle?!?! Not sure. I like the look of it, but not sure of the cost (We are on a TIGHT budget...we're gonna buy a house!!!!!)

jozie, congrats on having such a wonderful day!!!! it sounds like JT did a great job! thank you so much for your review and all of your great advice!!! i cant wait to see pictures!!!belle, from the feedback that i have received on this website, as well as personal experience now, i would say DEFINITELY deal with Mike Closs. i just switched my BM due to some horror stories, and mike has been awesome! as far as chair covers go, i do believe they are 3-4 pp extra! HTH

I agree. I have met with Mike Closs (he's our BM) and has been nothing but SUPERB! I had a situation (not related to JT) arise, and he put me at complete ease, and this was only 2 wks after we booked and our wedding is still 1 yr and 8 months away!
As for the chair covers, we tried to get them thrown in, there was NO way about it, he said he had to charge for them. It's $3 just for the cover $4 for cover and bow. We are getting the cover and bow for $4.
Good Luck!

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!
I need some help!2 things on Wednesday I went to see JT and I had the worse experience ever. I loved the place but the BM was so NOT NICE. He showed me one menu and one room for the Cocktail Hour and the DOME room for the reception. If I didnt ask about the other reception room he wouldnt of shown me I dont think.
We did our negotiations in the cocktail room, with another couple in there. Once he told me the price he said there was no budging at all on the price. Now im looking to get married on a saturday in November and he was so not nice about the whole thing. Told me I could go cheaper if I did it on a friday or another month.
I went home sooooo upset. Then I my Fiances family has a friend getting married there in January and said the same guy helped her and did the same thing went back and spoke with someone else.
I heard there is more then one menu, and when I asked if I can change some things to get the price down to what I can afford he said NO!
Im going to call today but I was wondering if anyone who is getting married in November would like to share prices with me? Also if anyone has a checklist of some sort of what to ask when you see these places that would help out so much. My MIL is driving me nuts and Ive cried so much already about this wedding that Im at my breaking point. My mom had surgery yesterday for Breast Cancer (the last part) *She is doing great! and my life is upside down..... Im hoping for some helpful answers I know this is suppose to be my happiest time of my life but it hasent been, and now im fighting with my fiance over it all...
Again sorry so long but i needed to vent and get some help!!!
Thanks!!!!!!!!
