Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

Why don't you put personalized matchbooks/boxes on every table and have someone spread the word to have guests light the candles when they're seated? I totally don't get the 'herd of cattle' thing....how offensive! But I do get the fire hazard issue.

I think it's a lovely idea. Let us know what you decide!

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

Um, not a fire hazard at all! What does happen is that the votives get really hot and I have read couples' reviews where they turn them on for pictures or for a bit and then turn them off before the guests pick them up. Not a 'herd of cattle' at all - I mean, is it a 'herd of cattle' when guests pick up the place cards normally? The votive cards are that - place cards, she needs to relax - seriously! Anyway, speak to your BM or to Mike Closs (my BM and the Manager), I'm sure you'll get a whole different story. So sorry you had to deal with an idiot!

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

I think you should totally do the votive placecard holders! I dont know why she makes everything so difficult??!!!! that is one of the reasons i changed BM's. i am sure every candle in EVERY hall is a 'fire hazard'. brides do it all the time, maybe she misunderstood you? I think it would look really pretty and i think its a great idea! dont they have a staff and a BM and all these other people the night of your wedding to assure that things like the place going on fire doesnt happen??!!! the matches thing was a really cute idea too though! maybe come up with some poem and put it on the table about lighting the candle.....

bridegirl: i felt totally the same way about MOST of their vendors! I am using royalty for limos, tommy's tunes for dj, duet for photo and video. i booked the honeymoon through dawn from crusie one (vendor on here and an absolute amazing person!). i know i wont be using gina for invites, i mean i am sure she is great but i know i can find it elsewhere for cheaper. I am using jack and rose for flowers. i have heard some disheartening things lately, and i was most excited about this vendor too i really really just loved jack when we met, so i can only hope that my experience is a good one and that my intuition with him was on. who are you using?? let me know if i forgot anyone!

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

I was just thinking (regarding the fire hazard) that people walking around with lit candles (at JT they set up a table outside of your reception room with the placecards, not inside, I believe) and possibly not paying that much attention to people with long hair or small children milling around could cause problems. In a VERY rare instance. But you know how these banquet managers, etc. think....they think of the very rare.

Hi ladies! I just wanted to tell you that I called JT today and spoke with the infamous Anna. I was kind of iffy on the phone call. She started off nice, then was rude and condescending, then was nice again. Anyway, I was wanted to ask about the votive placecard holders. According to her they have never seen them before and she basically told me (after a lengthy discussion) that if we wanted them we could do them but it is a potential fire hazard. I think she is making a bigger deal out of it then it is. Then we talked about maybe having them put out and lit just before the guests moved to the dome room for the reception and she basically said she didn't think that was a good idea because then it would be like 'a herd of cattle' trying to get the votives. I don't know what to do...I really want to do them. She seemed to think it was a bad idea. What do you ladies think?

Have you decided on anything?

I honestly thing they're all beautiful. The Dome Room and Skylight Room have the beautiful glass ceilings. The Penthouse and Oak Rooms have the beautiful al fresco paintings and chandeliers. You can't go wrong with any of them.

Just wanted to share that the ONE (and only) time I had the 'joy' of talking to Anna was by phone and she was the EXACT sameway to me. I then had to go in (to amend contract) and she (per Mike's instructions) helped me and she said 'Oh I remember speaking with you the other day' I just replied with a very waterver-ish 'uh-huh'. When we left (FH was with me) FH said 'That's the one you don't like, right' I said 'How'd you guess?'

Does anyone have a pic of the place cards or menus that they supply??

Hi Jill, the menu is a standard menu, is not personalized, and is for the 'Deluxe' menu package. I plan on printing my own. As far as the place cards, I'll try to scan them, if not, I'll show them to you Sunday. Remind me to bring them.

Re: disappointing visit to JT

I was so excited to visit Jericho Terrace after reading all the positive things everyone had to say. I called in advance and spoke to Mike Closs since everyone seemed to rave about him. I told him I wanted to meet with him specifically and he assured me that he would show me around when I got there for my appointment. Alas, Mike was busy when we arrived and so the lady at the front desk assigned another BM to us.

My FH and I were not happy with the Oak Room which is the only option, considering the size of our party (around 125). It was nice but just wasn't our style. It was set up for a party with 10 place settings at each table. He said, for our party, we'd have 10-12 people per table but it was SO tight with just 10 settings already! When I asked about the waiter to guest ratio he said 1: 14. That's less than one waiter per table! On the brighter side, I really liked the cocktail room but everything after that went downhill. He quoted me $5 for chair covers! I told him I didn't want the ribbon but he said that was the only option... take it or leave it. I was so shocked that I asked if they recently upgraded their chair covers and he said no. I remember hearing ladies who had their cake designed differently, to their personal taste, but this BM said that I have no option. I have to pick from the choices in the menu. Also, I've heard of people being shown the kitchen on their tour but we weren't.

Has JT changed their policy/quotes on a lot of things or was it just my BM? I was pretty bummed with the whole visit but I'll be seeing 3 more places in the next two weeks so hopefully things will turn up.

gracie... please go back and meet w/ Mike C. infact, call to speak to him and tell him what happened! He is just so awesome and will do whatever is in his power for you! $5 per chair cover???!!!! I was quoted $4 with the bow. I did not get a tour of the kitchen, but it never even occured to me to ask about it and my then BM didnt offer. they can definitely work with you on the cake, and just about anything else. I booked over a year ago so I am sure some things have changed, but not that much! HTH and i am sorry for your experience!

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

Hi Jericho Terrace girls!
I'm getting married there June 17, 2006. The ceremony is in the skylight room, cocktail hour in terrace room, and reception in the oak room. I'm estimating about 140 for guests, and I was wondering if anyone had their reception in the oak room already. How many people did you have, and was it roomy enough for everyone to be comfortable?
Thanks!
