gracie... please go back and meet w/ Mike C. infact, call to speak to him and tell him what happened! He is just so awesome and will do whatever is in his power for you! $5 per chair cover???!!!! I was quoted $4 with the bow. I did not get a tour of the kitchen, but it never even occured to me to ask about it and my then BM didnt offer. they can definitely work with you on the cake, and just about anything else. I booked over a year ago so I am sure some things have changed, but not that much! HTH and i am sorry for your experience!

I agree. Mike Closs has been AMAZING!! I booked in Sept 04, and am getting chair covers w/ bows for $4 per chair. When I went just to get info and look around (w/o FH), Mike took me into the kitchen. Do you know who you met with?

Hi Jericho Terrace girls!
I'm getting married there June 17, 2006. The ceremony is in the skylight room, cocktail hour in terrace room, and reception in the oak room. I'm estimating about 140 for guests, and I was wondering if anyone had their reception in the oak room already. How many people did you have, and was it roomy enough for everyone to be comfortable?
Thanks!

Hello and Welcome!! I know SometingBlu is getting married in the Oak Room this May!!

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

Hi girls, my date is march 17, 2006, they offered to see the kitchen, but i wanted to wait to go w/my mother, who else should tour the kitchen but mother hen?? robert stevenson the gm met w/me originally and fr. what i know we can choose the cakes fr. the menu and add to it (my florist will add flowers and fruit to go w/my caribbean motif) who did you see??

Does anyone know if they change the price of the chair covers based on time of year?? maybe that explains the discrepancies.

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

Welcome newbies!

amazon_gracie - I am so sorry, it sounds like your BM was an a*hole. Please speak to Mike, even if it means waiting - he is worth it. Althouogh at this point you may not feel like it. I'm sorry!

Ourdestiny06 - I am also paying $4 per chair cover, with bow...and that is for a Spring wedding (almost summer) so there is no price discrepancy...just that some BM apparently want to make money off you. Mike Closs is their boss, hence why he's able to work with couples.

glinda_goodwitch - as far as the Oak Room...yes, it SO wasn't my personal fave. I loved the Penthouse Room the most, but I am only guaranteeing 100 people, so the Oak was my only option. We are having between 120-130 guests and I saw it set-up for that many (Mike set it up for us not too long ago) and it seemed fine! 10 people per table, 13 tables...6 on one side, 7 on the other...and there was room for a few more tables. My concerns were dispersed after that. I'll let you know in about 49 days how it goes!
As far as the waiter to guest ratio, that was also a concern for me since service is my #1 concern...I was guaranteed that it will be 1 waiter per table, in fact, it's in my contract!

Here are some pics that the lovely LadyPrincess took of the Oak Room during a showcase, as well as others from the awesome MsKitty1274...enjoy!

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

thanks everyone... for your advice! well, i would try to contact mike again but i forgot to mention the worst part. from the beginning the BM told us that there would be another event going on but at a different time so we would have nothing to worry about. at the end, he went to give us our quotes and came back telling us that our cocktail hour would have to be earlier (cutting into our ceremony) since it's taken during our requested time. i told him changing the ceremony time was not an option so... unless we want to forgo the cocktail hour, it's a no go.

btw, our BM was Tino (?).

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

Thanks, Somethingblu. That makes me feel better. I actually really like the oak room. I love the ceilings! And I didn't even think to ask about how many waiters there will be. But Michael Closs is my banquet manager, so I'm sure if I mention that I'd like one per table, he will try to accomodate that.

Thanks for all the welcomes to the board, everyone!

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

Hi again, girls!
I was wondering if any of you were using either of the JT recommended DJs Body Rock or Starlight Express. We are looking for something classic and fun, with a little excitement but not overly club or disco.

Thanks!

You're very welcome!

About the DJ, I can only comment on Starlight Express since I saw them at a showcase. They are definitely fun and very lively, but clubby. That's actually what we wanted - for the reception to feel like a party at a club - but we went with a company that's Latin owned and specializes in Latin weddings. Sorry I can't help you further.

Gracie - I am so sorry! It just seems like it was bad all around. If interested in Suffolk, we saw Majestic Gardens and absolutely LOVED it...it was a tough choice between them and JT. They are reasonable, willing to work with you and only do one affair at a time. I that's not for you, there are many other places...you'll find the one!
Good luck!

I saw both perform at showcases, and met with Starlight Express (not using them tho). First, Body Rock is good, but they contract out their DJs, so you don't know who your DJ/MC are until very shortly before your wedding. I was not thrilled with this. Starlight, I had a good meeting with, but were a little too pricey.

I have booked Cassarino Studios (Photo/Video) and Pedestals which are JT vendors.

We are using Starlight Express...they did FSIL's wedding and we liked them. We didn't think they were clubby at all!! I think it all depends onthe type of music you ask for.
Good luck!

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

Are you planning on using lights with your DJ package? We are debating this. I'm originally from boston (FI from NY), and I've never been to a wedding with lights before.

We are definitely using lights...our package is for the computerized lights, so they'll be high tech and will hopefully contribute to the party/club feel we want.

I'm getting married at JT on May 21. When I went to plan my menu last week, they told me that the new carpet won't be installed by the time of my wedding.
