Wait!!! I have been away and now I can't find this nasty review of JT you guys are talking about...Maybe LIW deleted the post b/c it was negative? Can someone fill me in on the highlights?

Maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment, but I have this sick need to read every negative thing about every one of my wedding vendors...

Thanks!

I did not see it either!!!

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

I think the review is gone, because I searched for it and the name that it was posted under pulled up nothing, if I'm remembering the user name correctly.

ETA: it was a review of the whole wedding, and there were complaints about JT but also a lot of other things such as flowers, photographer, DJ, etc.

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

Some people just find things to complain about...I had a poster on The Knot ripping on the band that I booked b/c she said the band members were drinking all night and taking advantage of the open bar...Turns out they each had one or two beers....Give me a break! (To me it's a problem if they visibly sloshed and slurring their speech...2 beers? go ahead and have 'em!)

I guess you never know if someone has unrealistic standards when you read these things.

Lisa- I am paying for the chair covers (I am in the Dome Room also). I knew I wanted them, tried to get them thrown in, but kept hearing no, so we're paying for them.

MsKitty...Do you have any pictures of what the chair covers look like? or maybe a website? I am definitely doing something b/c I really don't care for the chairs at JT.

I was thinking of doing those gold chiviari ballroom chairs, but the cheapest quote I got was $7.50 a chair!!! I'm thinking chair covers would be cheaper (hoping!), and wanted to get an idea of what they'll look like on the JT chairs.

Thanks!

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

HI ladies Unfortunetly Im the one who wrote the review. I cant repost it because as explained in my review it was my brothers wedding and I didnt want to hurt anyones feelings because his wife reads but doesnt post. I used a fake name for the review for this reason and if you'd like the details please FM me. The wedding was not a total disaster and there were issues with each vendor our family was shocked at how much went wrong. Also as I stated in the review, I've been to plenty of parties at Jericho and they have all been wonderful and I think that's why we were so shocked and disappointed. As I explained to Glinda the basis for the review is to go over these things with your vendors so they take extra care in your day! Sorry if I stirred anything up

Holy sh!t - I wrote a whole lengthy response and the stupid computer crashed!

Sorry your brother's wedding wasn't great... It's never good when things don't go as planned.

About JT - my wedding was better than I imagined...I had very high expectations and they certainly went above and beyond. My review is posted on The Bride's Review board and without exageration, I can't think of one thing that went wrong at JT.

Negative reviews are helpful because they spotlight 'issues' to work on, but my best advice to all of you is the following: NEVER take anyone's word for fact. Be as organized as possible. Have everything down in your contract.

As wonderful as Mike was to us, there's no way I would have expected him to remember everything we discussed during our meetings (a LOT goes on), besides, your wedding day is run by the Maitre 'D, not the BM. They refer to the contract so make sure everything is there. My chair covers, the time to cut the cake (I wanted it early so that 2 hours were left for dancing and they did it effortlessly), the option of seconds for the guests (after dinner they passed entrees for those still hungry) - everything was done because everything was in the contract. Not to mention the chocolate fountain (I wanted it 1/2 hour before the end) and the extras at the CH - everything was there, beautifully displayed.

If you won't personally decorate and lay out your stuff (and no one has time to do that anyway) make lists (I did mine in Excel) and detail everything for the staff to do as you would want. They are not mind readers...tell them how you want it! I did that for my favors (needed a table), my cake (gave them a picture the week of), my cake topper, place cards, guestbook, table name cards, name card holders, menus...etc. Because I gave them a list and told them how to put everything there were no surprises when I walked in. It was beautiful!

About the chair covers - I was in the Oak Room and I paid for them. It was about $3 each, I think. They were totally worth it. As far as I know, no one ever gets them thrwon in - so those who claim they have are lucky. I didn't mind paying because I wanted them so bad...and they really made the room look so elegant.

Don't freak out about negative reviews...and don't go on super positive reviews either...remember that everything that can be controlled and organized needs to be done BEFORE the big day. That day, hopefully, you'll be so happy and relaxed that all you'll have time for is admiring your hard work and partying. Definitely be as organized as you possibly can...there's no other way to guarantee perfection.

Best wishes and good luck to all future JT brides!

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

I have a question: i have most things in my contract, but my banquet manager did promise certain things (like a bottle of champagne at every table) that I'm not sure is explicitly written in the contract. Do you think they can add that in writing after we have already started our payments, so that I have peace of mind?

ETA: actually I just looked at my contract and everything is there except the chair covers. Mike Closs said twice that we would have them included, so I need to call and see if I can have it added to the contract!

You need to have EVERYTHING promised and discussed in your contract. The day of, your BM does not work your wedding - the Maitre 'D does and you can't go by something that was discussed with the BM - it's unfair to expect everything to be remembered (they work an insane amount of weddings)...put it in the contract!
We had addendums the week of, when we went for the final payment and I gave them my cake picture I had them sign it and add it to my contract...also toward the end, make sure that everything in your contract gets transferred to the 'cheat sheet' that the Maitre 'D uses the day of. I can't tell you how many times I would call Mike and ask him about something and he would say 'is it in your contract?'. My answer was always 'yes' so he would say 'then don't worry about it, you will get it'.
Be thorough and organized...that is really the best advice I can give everyone.

About the chair covers - I don't know of anyone that got them thrown in...I bargained a LOT and all I could get was a discount (didn't care, I wanted them)...so if you got them thrown in - definitely put it in there.

Ummmm....yes! Like I said many times on this thread...EVERYTHING I requested and we agreed on was added to my contract. We even made addendums the week of. Confused about your question.

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

Ladies, I went to Jericho Terrace today to have the chair covers added into my contract, and I saw the new carpet!! It was put down for the bottom level, but not the rest, so I could see both carpets against each other. The new one is sooo much prettier than the old one. It is green with a gold rope design. Also, the flowers outside are sooo pretty for this season. Just thought I'd share Good luck to all who are getting married there this weekend! Have a wonderful time!!
