Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)
What would you recommend doing if you knew you wanted seat covers from the beginning and already have it in your contract? They charge $5.00 around a chair and this is making me so mad!
When we had signed with the WM we were also lookin @ Fox Hollow. FH gave lots more bonuses in their cocktail hour and we liked that but ultimately decided to go with WM.
I want to call them and say that something has to give here...
Did anyone ask Jerry what EXACTLY he's updating there? I can't wait till the spring to know. I need to know now

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)
Well, I booked WM before the chair covers were ever announced. I only learned about it on one of my trips there to make a payment. One of the BM tolds me about it herself! I was talking to her about how they are under new mgmt and asked if I should worry, and she said that 'the new mgmt is good for something b/c of the chair covers' I was thrilled to hear about the chair covers. It's not in my written contract yet, but if they give me problem, I will just raise hell.
I'm going in a few weeks to inquire about rehearsals.I'm not sure if the new mgmt is all that great, they still spell my name wrong and sent me the wrong invoice recently, overcharging by $3000!!! Stupid.
Anyways, does anyone know what color the tulips will be in the ceremony aisle area in late August? I saw some older pictures and am praying to dear God that it won't be yellow!

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)
I'm new to this chat - so please excuse me as I am still learning all the chat lingo !I am getting married on 12/3/05 at the Westbury Manor. We are having our cocktail hour in the room w/all the windows on the first floor (off of the library) and then our reception will be in the Garden Room. To my understanding, the Library is ours during the reception. Mel, our BM, told us that. He was awesome ... old, but awesome!
The Garden Room definitely does not have a bar in it - although I am not sure if they roll one in or not?
We are having a day wedding - 12:30-1:30 will be the cocktail hour and 1:30-5:30 reception.
is anyone using pedestals florist? if so, what kinds of things are you doing for the room? b/c it is so dark, i am looking to do something with light colors. if anyone has pic's of simple centerpieces for the tables, please post them!
thanks girls!

Hi LM903! We also booked the Garden Room. It's so beautiful! With the GR you get the Library also. So the bar in the Library is the bar that goes with the Garden Room. I love it! It's perfect for anyone who wants to 'get away' for a little bit. We're using the in-house florist. Christopher is wonderful! (We're also having our ceremony there.) I didn't meet with Pedistals, but I hear only good things about them.

To all: According to Jerry Scotto, all brides after April 2005 gets the chair covers. So, even if you booked in July 2004 (like we did) our wedding is in Oct, so we get 'em too! Whoo hoo!!!
I'm a little upset about the management changes...we booked with Gennaro. We loved him, but Jerry assures he'll take good care of us! We meet with him on Thursday - put a face to the voice... My FI called, because I was too upset, he apparently mentioned all girls are calling-reading chat on LIWeddings. We've made our mark!!!
It'll all work out!

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)
LM903-I also have the Garden Room- they do not bring a bar into the room- each table has a waiter and they order the drinks for your guests, or they could go into the bar in the library and get them themselves!
to answer other questions about changes.. I spoke in person to Jerry Scotto in November, and he told me that they will be offering frozen drinks during the cocktail hour and the reception. That is the one new thing I heard about.
We are coming up next month to meet with him and hopefully do a walk through before a wedding so I can see how everything is set up.
I will keep everyone updated!

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)
i believe friday nights at WM were comparable to paying for a Sat night wedding - it will range. the bride who booked her wedding before me, paid $109 p/p (including tax and gratuity) for a sat night affair in october.word of advice - the later in the year you go, the cheaper it is. also, having a day wedding saved me $30 p/p. something to think about...

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)
Hi All WM Brides....I just came from WM with my mom and we are ALL lucky because the changes they made are all wonderful.
First...the menu. There are now 7 choices for your guest to choose from. They even provide menus for everyone. We don't have to type them up.
Second...they have new linen tablecloths (ivory) that are embroided and look so beautiful and elegant. The chair covers (also ivory) are now included. They told us they clean them right downstairs and have their own people press all the linens. That's why they can offer it to us FREE of charge. You don't have to demand it. I had her write it down on my contact, just to be sure.
They say this new chef is so much better and the presentation is excellent. They got all new staff waiters that are very polished and professional right down to the shined shoes.
They have two blenders on the bar for frozen mixed drinks and a champagne station (whatever that is).
The BM that was helping us son is getting married there this weekend and she is not worried at all.
I am even more excited than before.

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)
does anyone know if in the Garden Room you have a choice of doing Round tables vs. oblongs?? I was told by one of the Matre D's that they couldn't do rounds in the Garden Room- but I don't know if he was just saying that! I could have sworn that when we booked it, the room was set up w/rounds. I think we'll have approx. 120 guests.

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)
From what I know oblong only. I was also told that 120 is perfect for the room. 12 tables max and 10 per table sits comfortably. After that, they add more people per table, not more tables. (That's actually what we're doing...keeping it around 120 so everyone is comfortable when eating...then they better be on the floor dancing!)

Thanks for the info. So the 7 menu choices are they different than what they were before? When I booked there were 7 choices for dinner and a menu card was provided for the guests.
I'm happy about the frozen drinks and the new linens.
I know they included champagne and strawberries, during cocktail, but I don't know if that is actually a champagne station. I guess it is the samething. right?

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)
When we booked August of 2003, they only had a choice of 4 dinner items. We watched the changes since then, but the menu was the best change.I forgot to mention that they will have bottles of red and white wine on the tables. That's new since we booked.
The champagne station I guess is where the guests can pick up the drink...I should have asked her to clarify. If anyone knows, please share.
I am so excited.

Did you ask for the bottles of wine for the tables? They never mentioned anything like that to me and I booked them in November of 04.
Thanks
