update!NWR: so this girl in the office got carnations from this guy...

and she has been dating him for 4 months.. she got mad, called the florist to see how much they were, and then said she can not believe it!!!!

She is very upset.. she didn't even call him to thank him..........

what are your thoughts... should she be mad? do you think she should have gotten roses??????

So she calls him and tells him thank you but she doesn't really like carnations and would have prefered roses.. . and he's like well there was a fortune cokie thing that I could've wrote a message in and I thought you'd like these better...

he now feels bad and she feels alittle bad.. I don;t think this relationship will work.... maybe we shoud have a running bet on this one.... she's always entertainment for our office... the only single one left and not too smart

It is not the gift that counts but rather the thought and time this young man put into it. Alot of people get fancy gifts and there is no true meaning and love behind it. This girl should be grateful for what he gave her.

I hate carnations, but if FH got them for me I would love them none-the-less (does that make sense? ). I think it is a bit lame that she is upset - he remembered the occasion and got her a lovely gift to show his affection. Isn't it the thought and not the $$$ value that counts? (she obviously has lost sight of what V-day should really be about - taking one day to show a loved one how much you really care - not breaking the bank!)

That is a tricky one....4 months is enough time to get roses but maybe he couldn't afford them. They are expensive on this day. I would be happy with anything. It is the thought that counts and the thought was there for sure.

i don't like carnations, but a gift is a gift, and she should be happy to even have someone in her life that thought about her.

that's really messed up. i think getting flowers is great, but i have a rule that FH is never to send me flowers on Vday when they are ridiculously jacked up in prices. That poor guy, wasting his time!

if you ask me and i'm sure i'll probably be the only one to say this... but getting roses (especially red) on valentine's day is just so cliche. Me personally... i'd like a little more thought into it than that.

IMO you should be happy when someone gives you a gift and that they though of you period!

PS: I really dislike roses, especially red roses, so I would be really happy with carnations

She should be happy with whateve she got. I feel bad for that guy. How horrible for her to call the florist and ask how much they were! Its the thought that counts! Roses are so ridiculously expensive on valentines day anyway.
You know he's going to feel her wrath when she gets home. Poor guy, maybe he should rethink that relationship.

She should be grateful she got anything!!! Maybe the florist ran out of roses and had to send carnations!!

I got red carnations one year from my ex fiancee and I was happy!!! I personally hate red roses on Valentine's Day. It's very cliche and typical!! She should have been happy to get ANYTHING, let alone flowers delivered to the office!! Especially after only 4 months of dating!! Tell her she needs a reality check, and that if she wants to keep the guy, she should keep her trap shut and say thanks!! (Although it looks like she doesn't deserve him anyway!!)

She should not be mad at all, she should thank her lucky stars that a guy cares enough about her to acknowledge Valentine's. Do I think he should have gotten roses? NO!! He got what he could afford, what he thought was appropriate, what he thought was nice.

Personally, I really really dislike roses. FH bought me two dozen for our first Valentine's. I considered myself to be a very lucky lady that he bought one of the most expensive flowers available for Valentine's after 17 days of dating.

I can't even believe it. what a jerk?! It's like these chicks I saw at Michael C. Fina the other day looking at the e-rings (ALL single, btw) saying which ring they would 'SETTLE': for I feel bad for the guy that 'settles' for them!
