Re: Diet time!! post here for support

I had pistachios last night at about 11 during Seinfeld. Is that bad? I know its not good to eat after 8 pm but aren't nuts healthy fat? That was how I justified putting them in my mouth!

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

OK ladies, I joined WW last night, and went to my first meeting! I am hoping that writing down everything will help keep me in check when its snack time I am not sure how I am going to keep track of points though, I eat out a lot for lunch and dinner, and dont know how to track those points! The main thing that I learned last night is that I dont eat enough during the day- I usually eat only 2times a day. The leader told us to eat 3 meals, plus 2 snacks! I am all set today w. my raisins, lowfat cheese and an orange.

I keep reminding myself that this will all be worth it when I am rocking the bikini on my HM

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

Most nuts are the good fat, yes. That's the fat that raises the good cholesterol. When I was on WW my main problem was that I ate almost all starch/carbs. Now I'm much more careful with eating more lean protein, good fat, and not so many white carbs and more whole grain.

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

My mother gave me a diet tip this morning, from Oprah!

Cut out all WHITE carbs - rice, white bread, pasta, etc. (I guess they are the bad ones)

AND - NEVER eat past 7:30pm! Which kinda stinks for me considering I get home at 7!!!

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

OctBride03:
Totally agree about not eating late at night (even though I did it last night - bad girl). You shouldn't eat less than 4 hrs before bedtime, b/c that's how long it takes for the food to be digested and if you eat before bedtime, it all goes to the love handles (or any other problem area). I too get home late, and on weekdays, I don't eat dinner. Basically, I have a normal breakfast, bigger than average lunch, a snack around 3-4pm, and then another snack when I get home (a fruit/yogurt or a slice of bread with peanut butter).
I eat no breakfast on weekends, but do eat dinner, as I usually stay up pretty late then.

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

I thought potatoes were good carbs? I can't cut out all carbs b/c I don't eat meat and I need to get my energy from something. Beans and hmm just beans alone doesn't look good to me w/o rice.

I think that as long as you do cardio and lift weights, you can eat what you want but in moderation. Muscles burn fat faster and the cardio burns the calories.

Now if you do what I have been doing: 4 days a week during dinner having pasta AND not working out than that is a different story. No wonder I gained 10 pds!

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

Yes, this is great maybe we can post recipes and more tips throughout the year to keep us all motivated.
I need to lose at 15lbs. Before I start dress shopping. I did WW and it does work if you stick to it. Obviously I didn't but I plan on starting again.
Good Luck to all!!

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

Ok I'm joining this chat too! I need to loose about 60 pounds before my wedding in 2004. I was hoping to loose about 30 or 40 by like July or August when I start to look for dresses. I'm not going to even announce how much I weigh now! But let's just say 60 pounds would make me a nice size. Anyway I'm starting Sunday, January 5th. I am going food shopping this weekend and I'm going to do the low carb thing. I tryed that WW thing and it doesn't work for me. Low Carbs is easier and you can eat more theoretically. I know I need to loose weight my engagement ring is tight.

So all support will be appreciated ladies.

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

Damn Stacey I am jealous!!

Guys I am soooo sore today!!

Maybe I overdid it working out yesterday but I can barely walk lol

But I want to work out again so maybe I will just take an anti-inflammatory.

I have to agree about the carbs, even though atkins is a bad diet it does work and has no carbs, also in WW fruits and veggies are free or very little points but carbs are lots of points, I think limiting the carbs is a key to losing weight, its just so hard...

I am a carboholic !!!

Okay, I had to have lunch a little early... I will be in a closed meeting later today....
For lunch I had, egg white salad-
hardboiled egg- 2 points
1 tbsp lite mayo-1 point
3 hardboiled egg whites- 1 point
altogether....
plus what I had for breakfast: 2 points
so altogether I had: 6 points....
I will have up the points for later.... big dinner tonight. Yum!

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

I think that I'm going to start working out tomorrow. I had done some before X-Mas and it felt really good and then I started slacking. If I carry my gym clothes to work everyday I will go. It's just getting those gym clothes to work with me.

And I really have no excuse there is a gym right next door to my job.

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

Well, I went to steak restaurant and except for the Martinis did pretty good. I went to the bathroom during dessert to resist the temptation. I just tasted it and ran away from the table!
I need to start working out more! That idea about not eating after 7:30 stinks, b.c thats when my train arrives at the station! SHould I bring dinner to work with me or something?

Re: Diet time!! post here for support

You should try and bring a light dinner to work with you and eat around 5 or 6. If you find yourself hungry later on eat some carrots or broccoli with dip or something small.

Just to satisfy the need to eat and then drink lots of water at least that's what I've heard.
