yup i have 1...and shes my MOH!
I have others who can swear up and down we are the best of friends...but hmmm funny i move out of state and ive heard from them maybe 1 time a month if that!! That proved to me what I needed to know all along. I also have a friend who we've been friends forever...she also in in my wedding but we go weeks w/o talking but its how life is and we totally are fine with that but yet still close!

If you can't laugh about it...well, what's the point? Life happens. we're in a crazy overstressed society and it's hard to make new friends b/c it's hard to build up any momentum in a new person's schedule. If we want to make friends, we're going to have to make the time for it, just like we make the time for our FH's and wedding plans.

Real friends that I see often and hang out with?? One - and she is someone I met here on LIW.

My two BM both live OOT. I believe if either one of them currently lived on Long Island and I had an issue they would drop everything and come running - hence the reason I asked them to be a part of my wedding - but the distance between us makes things much different. I also believe my MOH/sister would come running for me, but she is now married with an infant and we just don't spend any quality time together anymore.

I count my real friends (aside from DH...he is my BEST friend...on one hand...also not including my sister/SIL, we're talking friends, right?)

I probably have 3 really good friends and then a few others that are fair weather friends.

I have ONE best friend and we've known each other since we're 5 yrs old....I have many friends at work.....I also consider my FH my best friend of all.....

I have 1 good female friend, others that are just okay and 1 very good guy friend who lives in NC. I have worked at three jobs in five years, and I always make good friends at these places but then I leave or they move, etc. It is so hard to make friends and sometimes I feel like the only one. I am glad that I am not. My FH has four really good guy friends that he keeps in contact with and then a bunch that he sees when they all get together and then a couple of good 'girl' friends but not 'girlfriends'!!!! It's hard trying to keep up a relationship with your
FH start a career and maintain plus I work an extra job for income. Sometimes I am just too tired.

My best friend knows me inside and out and is more like a sister. She really is my closest friend and confidant and has been since we were 15, despite the fact she's lived in Chicago for the past 13 years! (Thank God for email and phones) I have 3 other friends I'm very close to (my FSIL, a fellow LIW bride, and a wild & crazy friend). I do have a couple of other friends who I think I really have the potential of becoming closer to but that takes time.

Superclose or not, I really have learned to appreciate and cherish every one of my friends.

I was just thinking about this not too long ago. It's sad how things change as time passes... sometimes for the better, sometimes not.

I think as we get older we get wrapped up in our day-to-day lives and distance grows between those we used to be close with.

I remember being in college and having conversations about this exact topic and saying 'we definitely have to stay in touch.' It's weird because time passes so quickly what seems like 2 weeks ago when I said 'I really have to call so and so' turns into 2 years.

I don't know if anyone ever really means for it to happen, it just sort of does. Sometimes I miss the sense of comradery that once was.

My dad, who is sooo old skool Italian used to always tell me...

You should be able to count your true friends on one hand...and still have fingers left over.

I can count my true friends on one hand. IMO, I would rather have 1 true friend than 100 'empty' friendships
