Re: My Reception Site Short List!! Opinions?

Posted by craigshunny

Okay, thanks to you lovely ladies and a lot of phone work, I've narrowed down my list of possible reception sites to the follow:

Giorgio's
Beach Club Estate
Crest Hollow CC
West Sayville CC
Smithtown Landing CC
Milleridge Carriage House
Jericho Terrace
Venetian Yacht Club
Watermill
Majestic Gardens
Venetian Yacht Club

Okay...maybe it's still a long list! Anyway, I've seen Giorgio's and Majestic. Between tonight and next Wednesday, I'll be visiting the rest on the list. ANY insight that you can give me on the rest of the places would be great (prices, experiences, service, etc). We're looking at March, May and November 2006 as possibilities; Sunday wedding; 75 minimum.

Thanks in advance!!!!

Theresa

I'm having my wedding in Feb. 2008 with around 200 people.

Crest Hollow is very nice and give you A LOT of food. They quoted me 54/pp. the place is really pretty and the halls are really nice. the driveway heading down to the hall is really impressive, at least to me anyway..lol

Jericho Terrace is pretty and have good food and a lot of it. They quoted me 90/pp. The only thing with this hall is that its right on the busiest part of jericho tpke. the place reminds me of an italian villa or something but its nice and the people are uber friendly.

Milleridge Carriage House..I didn't look at but I looked at the Cottage and although it was very pretty, it was too small for my wedding and i wasn't thrilled with the food choices or the prices, i don't remember the prices though unfortunately. the lady i met with wasn't all that nice but i'm sure there are other people there who are nice.

The others I don't know about but I hope I was able to help in a small way.

Re: My Reception Site Short List!! Opinions?

I loved Majestic Gardens. I think that their hall is georgeous and so are their grounds. I went to a tasting there, and food was superb! The room is nice and big, and I really like that it is only one wedding at a time. I also thought that the cocktail hour room was extremely unique.

The only reason we didn't book is because 98% of our guests do not live in Nassau or Suffolk, and although we live close to it, we wanted to accomodate the guests so we chose somewhere in the middle.

Also their parking lot is huge!

Off of your list, Watermill would be my second choice. Only because again, I enjoy one wedding at a time, and Watermill does more than one.

I don't know where you live, but Georgio's is just so far out there. I think if you do May it would be nice to be able to go out to the water for pics, but I can see it being very cold in March and Nov.

Re: My Reception Site Short List!! Opinions?

I think Giorgio's is absolutely gorgeous (obviously - I'm booked there). I loved it the moment I stepped inside - basically I loved everything about it.

Some people had mentioned the West Sayville Country Club - I was just there looking to book my engagement party. It is a beautiful place and more importantly the staff is incredible. Steve is a pleasure to work with. I reccomend it for a smaller wedding

We've now updated our list to 4 choices.

Giorgio's
Majestic Gardens
East Wind Country Gardens
West Sayville CC

Bringing FH to see them over the next couple of weeks so hopefully we'll have it booked very soon. Looking for reception sites is just exhausting! I had NO idea!

There are actually two fireplaces in the reception room; both are toward the front. The cocktail hour room is right off of the reception room. It's a beautiful glass enclosed patio (heated and air conditioned depending on your needs) with a view of the Great South Bay and Fire Island. You can have your ceremony there, either outdoors or inside. They recently went through renovations so the colors are very warm tones. I think it would be appropriate for a Saturday night wedding but black tie only if you provide decorations. We're planning a Sunday wedding so it's perfect for that. Good luck!

I don't remember her name (that's says a lot about her) but I know she was thin, on the short side, and blonde. She rushed us through the tour and just seemed very uninterested and sounded like she was just reciting things from memory and was just very cold, it totally turned me off, and I had really liked the place at first too, but i LOVE LOVE LOVE Fox Hollow and I'm so happy I booked them.

Re: My Reception Site Short List!! Opinions?

WSCC Be aware that you have to pay 5.00 per person if you want bottled beer! Valet parking is extra..(I think 4.00 pp)... You have to pay extra if you want a decent CH.

The base price is 80 ++pp on a Saturday night and then you can go from there.

I found that if you kept adding to what a reception hall usually offers it is more $.
BTW: It is Lessings Caterers.

Captain Bill's in Bayshore! The food is awesome and everyone there is so nice. You can have a reception in the bayview house which is gorgeous or in one of the smaller rooms the restaurant has.

Re: My Reception Site Short List!! Opinions?

I chose Majestic Gardens for my November Wedding next year.

I considered:
Swan Club
Giorgios
Watermill
Jericho Terrace
Floral Terrace
East Wind Caterers
Westbury Manor

Majestic offered the best prices for the Saturday night, with a reasonable headcount. Also the place is beautiful and the main highway isn't all that busy anyhow (not like the highway by Jericho And Floral Terrace - way too busy!).

Majestic also has amazing service, my mom and a several people I've talked to remarked on how good the service and food has been.

The BM was really great with me when I met her and each time i go to make a payment, they greet me by name (I don't call ahead and they don't retreive a file first).

Plus I love the fact that they're one affair at a time.
