but for a Nov. 1 wedding...
send out last week in JULY (arrive by the first week in AUG)
RSVP by oct. 1
Wow, you're going to send the invitations out 3 months before your wedding? Is it because you have an A & B list?
I'd be too scared to send invites out so early because people will inevitably wait until the last minute to RSVP, and when they receive it in early Aug and see the RSVP date is Oct 1, they'll put the invitation away and forget about it altogether...but maybe I'm just being a scardy-cat...
See, you bring up a good point too! I was thinking of the same thing, that the invitation will be put away for later and then forgotten.
The cutoff date that I got for booking hotel rooms in the block for OOT guests is October 1st, but if all the rooms are not booked by then, my guests will have to pay full price. There's no consequences for me, that I'd have to pay for rooms not taken, since I didn't go w/ our first hotel choice b/c they had that requirement too. But I don't want my guests to have to pay full price b/c not enough booked in time.
I don't have an A & B list, more like the opposite... only one list t b/c we're worried about making our minimum to begin with!
So if my wedding date is Nov 2, the hotel date for blocked room rate cutoff is Oct 1st, and I need time to get all missing RSVPs and give a final headcount to Fox Hollow, when would be the best time to send the invitations? Would the last week in August be good? I'm going to be addressing all the envelopes with calligraphy by hand by myself. I'm worried about having enough time to get it all done.

same here... since it is our post we are talking about... like i said this was off the TOP of my head.. BUT i DO have an A and B list.
i am worried about my family and his famiy... OOT and they (my sousins) are also in school and i want them to have ENOUGH time to plan and make proper arrangements.
additionally if ppl put the card aside then fine i woudl feel MORE comfortable with having more time to call ppl for RSVP's then no time at all...

I know the date you gave me was off the top of your head and I really do appreciate all the advice from everyone on this list!! I know that timelines are all based on rules of etiquette that have been around for years. Most of the books and websites I've looked at have the same timelines, with a few things tweaked here and there. Plus I figure everything is arbitrary because every couple's situation is different. So depending on situation, one couple might be able to plan a wedding in 6 months and another will take a year for a wedding of the same caliber.
Don't mind my musings.... I guess I'm trying to design a timeline for myself to get things done so I'm not rushing around to beat deadlines. My FH is extremely busy with his own business and he frequently travels for a week at at time, usually over weekends, so it makes it harder to scout out vendors together on our time off. His schedule is so booked up that I doubt he'll be home at all in April, May, and June!!!!!
I've done a lot of legwork and research myself, so we joke that it's going to be one of those clichés.... all he has to do is just show up on our wedding day!!
As for my obsessive time planning, I watched/helped my friend from work (one of my BMs) plan her wedding last year. She was still looking for major things in June for her July 22nd wedding!!!! She fully admits she's a last-minute girl, and assured me that she'll be good about getting her BM dress for my wedding on time b/c she knows I'm a 'give them a dummy deadline b/c I have to do it sooner than later girl.'
We're both teachers, and I saw her going nuts every day during our 35-minute lunch, on the phone w/ her FH & vendors, trying to find a rabbi who'd marry them during a 'blocked out' period of mourning day on the Jewish calendar (they weren't aware before they chose the date!), trying to find a florist on short notice, etc. and having to pay a bit more because of short notice. Most of this was done in May and June, when we were dealing with final report cards, cleaning/packing up our rooms, and moving to new classrooms. I tried to help her plan what we could do at lunch, and helped her research things online at home, but this year, we're on different grade levels, and no longer have any lunches or preps together at all. We barely see each other for more than 5 minutes a week!! And weekends are impossible to get together!! I miss her, and miss being able to share my planning with her!!
Anyway, sorry if I hijacked the thread with blabbering on and on!! I guess I'm just obsessing about keeping on schedule. Thanks for listening and helping me!!

Amy is in the afternoon and I am in the evening!
I freaked out as well the first time I saw her name and date and hall/room!
No need to worry! Hopefully we'll be able to take a pic together at the hall!
