I'm planning for about 225 in the Vanderbuilt. What about anyone else?

Re: THE OFFICIAL Watermill Thread

I have 285 on my invitee list, but a lot are from out of town. I have to guarantee 175. But I am afraid that it wont be enough people to fill the room. But then again, I can't take the Astor room because if everyone comes, it will be too small.

I am a mess!

Re: THE OFFICIAL Watermill Thread

i'm so glad we're having a 'smallish' wedding! i'd have such a headache with a guest list of 285 or 250!! good luck to you ladies!!!

we will probably wind up with about 110-120 in the astor suite, and they will fit just nicely. yipee!!

I think you'll be okay!!!! I guaranteed 175 for the vanderbuilt too...I expect to have anywhere from 175-225. we are inviting about 265-270 but have so many oot guests it could really go either way. it's a beautiful room!

Re: THE OFFICIAL Watermill Thread

I'm just worried that the room will look empty with only 175 people in it. It's such a big room. My friend had a reception in that room with around 350 guests.

I think I just have to stop thinking about this. Otherwise, I will make myself crazy.

you will be FINE!!!
they are ways to hide it - but when you have alot of guests , and a little guests.

if you have 175 ppl - they will prob give you round tables - instead of oval- and spread them apart, so that the room will look like its all filled up - and rem - the less you have - the comfty your guests will feel!!!

btw - how did it look/feel with 300 ppl in the vanderbuilt room (that will be MY case!) TIA!

Re: THE OFFICIAL Watermill Thread

Hi everyone..

I am a watermill bride myself!! Here is my info:

September 9th 2007
Astor Suite
Sat nite

I haven't booked a DJ yet, but I met with Body Rock yesterday and I have an interview with Tommy Tunes today!! I was impressed with Body Rock, but I thought they were pretty pricey....interesting to see what TT is like. I am on the fence with lighting.....I know the Astor suite has no windows, so I am assuming that it will be pretty dark in that room. What do you think?? Is it necessary?? It is about 850 bucks more.........

Re: THE OFFICIAL Watermill Thread

I am using Starlight express and I have 4 lights on upright stands that light up. I am in the downstairs room.

I could have done 2 but I like alot of lights. The dj company will usually tell you what you need. I met with body rock also and he told me it would be up to the dj and technicians when they get there how many lights they set up.

Is anyone going to take pics before the ceremony or reception only at the watermill? or are you going to take pics somewhere else?

I'm taking my pics at Old Westbury Gardens before my ceremony at the Watermill. Since we have a 12 O'clock ceremony we have to be at OWG for 9am...which means my hair and makeup will probably be started at like 5 in the morning

Re: THE OFFICIAL Watermill Thread

I went to a wedding at the Watermill Friday night and it was wonderful! The weather held up and the cocktail hour was outside. It was so beautiful!
There was enough seating for everyone (there was at least 180 guests) The food and hors d voures were delicious. The drinks were great too.

The food at the reception was delicious. Everyone was raving about the filet mignon at my table. I had the chicken which was very good also. The staff was very attentive and they got us anything we needed. I really had a great time.

There were a couple of very minor things that I'm going to ask our BM about:

-No martini glasses- I'm having a martini bar so I would like the drinks served in martini glasses.
(I hope they have them)

-No menus at the table- The waiter was hard to hear and he didn't know exactly what was in the chicken dish.

-Sorbet- The raspberry sorbet they served was as hard as a rock, everyone was having a hard time eating it. I'm getting the raspberry sorbet at my wedding and the menu said it would have a splash of Chambord, but I didn't taste it.

These things wouldn't bother me at all if I wasn't having a wedding there next month. I'm just being a nitpicky bride. I want everything to be perfect.

The wedding was one of the best that I have ever been to and fellow Watermill brides, you have nothing to worry about. Hope my review helps!
