Re: THE OFFICIAL Watermill Thread

JennyO - thanks for the mini review!
I am also having a martini bar - and would want Martini glasses! Im so surprised that they didnt have them/use them at the wedding you attended.

Abt the menu cards - they dont proved them - I asked already. I am going to be making them myself ... when I asked Brian - he sd that Samantha can provide them - i dont know how much she charges though.

The sorbet should have been soft, too .. that would bother me. .. i guess im a nitpicky bride also!

thanks again!

Re: THE OFFICIAL Watermill Thread

Posted by JennyO

I went to a wedding at the Watermill Friday night and it was wonderful! The weather held up and the cocktail hour was outside. It was so beautiful!
There was enough seating for everyone (there was at least 180 guests) The food and hors d voures were delicious. The drinks were great too.

The food at the reception was delicious. Everyone was raving about the filet mignon at my table. I had the chicken which was very good also. The staff was very attentive and they got us anything we needed. I really had a great time.

There were a couple of very minor things that I'm going to ask our BM about:

-No martini glasses- I'm having a martini bar so I would like the drinks served in martini glasses.
(I hope they have them)

-No menus at the table- The waiter was hard to hear and he didn't know exactly what was in the chicken dish.

-Sorbet- The raspberry sorbet they served was as hard as a rock, everyone was having a hard time eating it. I'm getting the raspberry sorbet at my wedding and the menu said it would have a splash of Chambord, but I didn't taste it.

These things wouldn't bother me at all if I wasn't having a wedding there next month. I'm just being a nitpicky bride. I want everything to be perfect.

The wedding was one of the best that I have ever been to and fellow Watermill brides, you have nothing to worry about. Hope my review helps!

thanks for the review!

Re: THE OFFICIAL Watermill Thread

There is a hotel that is a preferred vendor at the Watermill, I think it is a Best Western. They provide a shuttle from the hotel to the RH, no charge.

Does anyone know if you have to block off rooms to get the shuttle?

Re: THE OFFICIAL Watermill Thread

their vendor is actually Holiday Inn Express in Hauppauge. Go to Watermill.com and under wedding there is a list of their vendors. And they do shuttle from there. I didnt use them though.

I didn't use them either. We blocked rooms at the Radisson at Exit 63 off the LIE. It's closer to our church. We aren't providing transportation.

Re: THE OFFICIAL Watermill Thread

Hi everyone. I was overlooking the menu for the Watermill that the BM gave us. How many of you have gotten or are getting extras for your cocktail hour and reception? What are you getting?

We were given the 'Premier' Menu (I think that is what it is called). We have also decided to have the Venetian Hour, but I'm worried that the cocktail hour may be a little chincy.

Feedback is so very much appreciated.

Thanks

Re: THE OFFICIAL Watermill Thread

Our BM threw in an extra pasta/carving station and also gave us seat covers. He also offered the Vienesse hr at 10 per head, but we are not taking it. Our cocktail hour starts at 7:30PM which I find late as is and if we went with the VH it would run until 1:30PM!!!!

But if you got any add ons please let me know!! I am always up for bargaining!!!

they do offer a big upgraded menu besides the premier. it gives you a lot of stuff....but it can average at least $40 more a person from what i hear. speak to your BM about it. i know you can get extra items at the CH and the vienesse, and surf & turf items for dinner.

honestly--i don't think the CH with the premier menu is chincy at all. they really have a lot of stuff! but it's all a matter of personal choice.

i'm not using the recommended hotel either. we're using the Hilton Garden Inn at $109 a night for our guests...and they have a bar that will stay open late. (for a $100 fee)

instead of paying for transportation, we will be renting a van (like frm enterprise or something) and paying a family friend to bring guests back and forth.

Re: THE OFFICIAL Watermill Thread

I dont think it is chincey at all. 8 Hot choices, passed food, 2 pasta stations, 2 carving stations, Sushi trays, different displays of antipasta and fruits and vegetables and god knows what else.

It is slightly less food then Villa Lombardi's cocktail hour but you can always add on. I think it's enough food.

Re: THE OFFICIAL Watermill Thread

Our BM did not give us the sushi trays or the extra pasta. He gave us 2 meat carvings because I had mentioned that another hall offered it to us.

I know that I am going to end up adding something. I would really like the shellfish or at least shrimp cocktail.....it's my fav
