Re: UGH! Look at this house!
when DH and I were there last year, we toured some new housing developments and they ALL look like this one inside. the layouts differ, but they all have these dramatic entrances and so many rooms that you can easily get lost!

I happen to really like the outside...the roof is on of my faves, it means lots of vaulted ceilings!Thank you for posting htough because I went back and saw the inside pictures...Dina, these are better than the outside! Why are you here still?

Re: UGH! Look at this house!
Hi Girls! I was born and raised in TX and recently moved back to Tx last month. I was living in LI for about 8 years. When I moved to NY, i was so disappointed with the Real Estate. We moved to Houston because my DH works for the Airlines and he wanted to move to Texas for me. But, now we are contemplating staying here. I could adjust fine......but, not too sure about DH. And since he works for the airlines, we could pick up and go.I guess he would rather live in a shack. We live in apt. but I want to start looking for a house here inHouston. Maybe, he will have second thoughts when he sees what we can get for our money!!!
The homes here are brand new with swimming pools!!!!!!

I think I found my dream home!
it's a real bargain at only $290K!! 2 whole beds and 1 bathroom, and such a lovely bathroom!
but this is by FAR my most favorite room in the house!

Re: UGH! Look at this house!
personally, and i'm probably in the minority, but i don't like the house. it's a mcmansion. i think that all the other houses in the development probably look exactly like it which takes away from the regality it is supposed to have. with that said, i wouldn't mind the lap pool
but not at the expense of texas. dh's best friend just moved to austin and found a scorpion in their house.

So, Dina, thanks!
I showed DH the house yesterday and the inside pictures and he said empathetically 'LET'S MOVE TO TEXAS!' Um, dude, we're moving already...not to Texas!
So thanks for posting the nice house...and making me show it to him!

Re: UGH! Look at this house!
I'll be leaving NYC in 2007 to move to Texas. Can't wait. I'll miss my parents, but NY is too expensive. I'm ready to be selfish for a little bit and not have to sacrifice the little luxuries just to live here.

Not a good enough reason!

Oh, and for the record, I've had a 50% salary increase since leaving New York.
The other night, I was looking at real estate listings down here. There are fantastic listings starting around $250, and good ones starting in the low $100,000. So then, I thought I'd compare. I looked up DH's hometown - Merrick. I found a shack similar to the ones you guys have posted for upwards of $350,000 in North Merrick. One bedroom, on less than .1 acre, built in 1920 or so. Continuing on, I saw another similar house for $409,000, but it was in SOUTH Merrick.
When I told DH, he explained to me that the reason for the high price of the first house is that the price includes ownership of a duck. But not just ANY duck, one that lays golden eggs. So I then asked about the rationale for the more expensive, South Merrick house. He replied 'You know the rules of Real Estate - Location, Location, Duck.'

Re: UGH! Look at this house!
I have yet to see a house I like on LI for under $1.5 Million dollars- and that wasn't for anything to specialI just don't like the homes they build here so much- not my style- especially after seeing houses like that and the ones you see on TV
We talk about moving to Florida- I love those style of houses- I can already here my heels clicking on my tile entry way
I hope we really do move- I hate the winter
