what is everyones thoughts on a tiered cake? I know the FH puts the cake on the dance floor all night, and i wasnt sure if open bar + tiered cake = disaster

In the WGP, the cake is near the fireplace, against the wall. I guess that's technically the dance floor, but it's not really in any one's way - unless they are dancing with the wall. :) It shouldn't be a problem.

I emailed Jen but in case I don't hear from her maybe one of you can help me.

I call tomorrow with my final headcount but I'm not sure how to break it down...
Including FH, myself, and 4 children under 12 we have 127 people attending.
Our minimum is 125
We also have 11 vendors
Do the children count towards the minimum? and if so do we pay full price for them or do they still get counted as the child's price?

In the end I guess that doesn't matter b/c the kids and vendors cost the same plate wise right?

I fell 2 people under my minimum and was charged full price for kids and vendors because the only time they discount them is when you are over your minimum.

Kerri, they will probably just take two kids or two cendors and apply those two people to your minimum, and everyone else will be 1/3 off.

OH NO! Is it in your contract? I did think that he charged something ... I thought it was $250 though. Do you pay fox hollow? Or Rev Nick? If it's him, can you call him and find out what the deal is? Can they accept this payment right after the wedding, so you can pay with some wedding money?? Or, can you charge it? I hate to offer that as a plan, but it might be the only solution ...

I am so sorry about this!!!!!

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

Hi! I'm new to this site- I can't access it at work, so I haven't been able to read too much, but I just (mostly) caught up on this fox hollow thread. I'm getting married there on 9/14/08- we have the Garden Terrace room booked and are hoping to have the ceremony & cocktail hour outside. It's a daytime wedding (11am invite, 11:30 ceremony, 12-1 cocktail hour, 1-5 reception). We got a great deal and I'm so excited about the venue.

Reading some of this is making me kind of nervous since we only booked this the first weekend of March- we're six months out. I want to reserve a few extra rooms at the Inn, but don't think i'll have enough to have a block, as most people are local. But I'm thinking that if I need to be there early for pictures, I probably want to be at the site as early as possible, and it might just be best to stay at the inn the night before. I live in Manhattan, have family on the island (grew up there) but there's a chance my mom will be selling her apt on LI (where she only lives part time anyway) the month before the wedding- so i'm really nervous about a comfortable place to stay the night before. They're throwing in a room for us the night of the wedding, and my brother, SIL & their kids will have a room the night before- but I'd also like to be able to have a room available during the day of the wedding- in case my 4 year old niece and nephew need another place to hang out if they can't hack the whole day.. (their nanny will be coming to help out- so i figure they could go back and watch a dvd if necessary). Can anyone help me figure out how to work the needed rooms without too much added expense? Do I just pay for my brother's room for an extra night (even though they don't need to stay the night of the wedding?) Does anyone know what check out/in times are- or if they have extended check in?

Sorry for the length- wasn't sure how to make that question any shorter!!

Thanks!!

In our contract there is a dash next to clergy and when we booked they said the ceremony fee includes Fox Hollow recommended clergy. Thats why we asked for the recommended peoples names when it was time to book someone! Im happy I booked with him, but i think it is unfair for Fox Hollow to all of a sudden say we owe more money 8 days befre the wedding and have this as a hidden fee! Im so livid/upset/sick about it! Its just so much more to stress me out!!

ETA: and when I emailed them a couple days ago asking about tipping him since we dont pay him, they didn't disagree with me! Maybe that would have beena good tie for them to clairfy that they do charge, they just dont tell you!

Hi and Welcome!! As far as I know, the inn is supposed to be very nice! I also got myself a oom there night night before my wedding. i figure the extra expense is worth the conveniance. When I did a block of rooms, I believe I had to have a minimum of 10 on the block and I had to guarentee 70%. Hope this helps!

When I booked they included a $350 fee in my contract for the clergy fee. FH told me if I didn't end up using the recommended clergy they would take that $350 off when they calculated my final payment. I would love at you contract and see if it says anywhere that the clergy fee is included in the contract. FH might have made a mistake when booking and if that's the case they should pay Rev Nick and not charge you extra.

Check in is 3 pm and check out is noon. I was able to check in at 1 pm on the day of my wedding, but it really depends on how booked the hotel is. Unfortunately they can't tell you that until the night before. But I think that between a late check out and an early check in you should be OK that you don't need to book extra rooms.

I'm sorry that this is happening so close to your wedding. I would let Rev. Nick know of the issue if he doesn't yet. Of course he is going to want to be paid, but maybe between the FH and Rev Nick something can be worked out. In the meantime:

Ya FH and I were saying at this point we would rather directly pay rev. nick and not Fox Hollow. Cus now we wonder if he would even get the whole $350. Its all so shady to me.

hi there!! my reception was in the Briar Fox.. everything was absolutely perfect! we did make sure that the DJ set up his speakers right by the doors.. this way it would be more comfortable for the guests!

you will fall in love with that room when you are having your reception.. the way it looks all set up!
its so romantic and intimate..

Thanks so much. Yea, we have been talking to DJs to make sure they can set their speakers up by the door. I was also concerned about how many people fit in there. We want round tables and he said he can only fit 14 tables of 10 (comfortably). I'm also concerned if the dance floor is too small???

We are thinking of doing only candle centerpieces, I think with the fireplace and all candles it will look amazing.
