Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

Mike is great - Mike Closs! We met with him and absolutely wanted to book on the spot. But we had to look at Chateau Briand and Russos first.

We are planning to go to the showcase on 9/8.

hey summer bride, that is so awesome!! I have heard great things about mike.... i wonder if i could change my BM

I want to change too

Summerbride:
As far as the Russian food goes that is awesome. When we first booked I told him I was hispanic and he added paella to our menu we had also requested calamari and they are doing it, but instead of picking 10 hor'deurves (sp?) we only picked 8. But we are still having SOOO Much food....MMM...Can't wait

I must have a different menu. It has 4 hors d'oeuvres? And host choice of 3 entrees not 7?

Thanks Pauls, Summer, and Treilly Bride.

Jeez there's a lot of drama on that North Ritz Post today!!!

I can't wait to go there!! I hope my work has something for me..You're lucky!!

Also, just so you guys know, here are some of the things I discussed with Mike. I am having roughly 240-250 guests at my wedding.
I told him:
I wanted one waitor per table.
All waiters MUST take drink orders.
Rolling bartenders should be ready to serve the second people start walking into the reception room.
Four rolling bars in the room.
Top shelf liquor and name brand sodas - heard complaints about this on LIW's.
Bottled water served and sparkling water (Pellegrino) on tables.

Am I a BRIDEZILLA or what???

No, not bridezilla at all. I was told that it was 1 waiter per table already though....so no need to worry about that.

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

I saw the same review. We MUST have chair covers if we go with JT.

I got tap water on purpose when we went on Sunday. It was fine though. I am not big on soda and neither is FI so we don't even know the popular brand....unless it's Coke mixed with rum. LOL

FI said wow - these women are really watcing everything if they noticed the green napkin for the bread and butter covers were not matching. LOL

JT BRIDES, HELP! Ok, FH and I LOVE the Dome Room, and LOVE everything about JT. FH even said as we pulled in the parking lot 'I like this place better already' (better than Leonards). However, does anyone know if they are flexible on the payments plan? I was told it's $500 depoist, and monthly payments for 1 yr until 1/2 of balance is paid. However, there is NO WAY FH and I can afford that. I have rent, car, insurance and 2 small credit card bills each month. FH has a loan, car, insurance and 2 cc bills each month. We love it, but are afraid we won't ba able to have it. We are afraid to commit to something we won't be able to afford! Thanks!
-Jill

They must change their policies all the time lol. Ours was 1000 deposit, and then 7 monthly pmts of 1500. That would make it half our minimum and then u dont have to pay after that. at first i was overwhelmed by that, but i have to say I am so happy now, 9 months after booking the hall that we have paid off so much. that helped us make somewhat of a 'budget' so we know we have to put x amount away each month to pay for that as well as other vendors. Our last contractual pmt was due in aug, and we have already sent in september. We will continue to do this until we meet w/ our full min. price. I think we will be over the minimum by about 40 people at least, so that will be paid by the dead line. Only do what you can do, tell them what you can do and leave it at that. I think they will accomodate you.
btw, what is your minimum? what day of the week, time etc. is your wedding? maybe that will give you bargaining power.

The payment plan seemed flexible. We were told $500 deposit and payments of at least $500 a month until 50% paid. Balance due 10 days before wedding.

I'm not sure why they didn't show it to you, but the 7 entree choices is the Deluxe Wedding Menu, which is what we're going with. Maybe you told them a specific budget you were going with? It's a bit more expensive, but my dad is paying for the reception, and he said we should go for it. The cocktail hour is better too, but it's really not a huge difference.

I just wish they would get new chairs!!!! Ugh. They ARE replacing the carpets by the time I get married though...don't know exactly when.

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

Hi Ladies,

I hope everyone had a long and restful weekend..

Kdrainey - Welcome..I also got the 7 choice entree. I've been working with Mike and he (so far) has been great and very flexible. Sounds like you already got a taste of that from him..let us know what hall you decide on.

Winterbride - your so lucky the carpets are changing..although I don't think they are that bad.. I've see a lot worse.

Paulsbride - are you getting excited?? Your day is creeping up behind you..I am sooo excited, yet nervous!!

That's pretty funny about ordering the tap water and what FI said...I'm paying an arm and a leg for this wedding and def want the most I can get...I am sooo anal when it comes to certain things too, so that doesn't help me.

Re: 'Official Jericho Terrace Thread'!

jozieb0925, thanks for asking! I can't believe it. I have 6 days of work left (not including today) and I CANNOT concentrate for the life of me. And of course my boss brought in a huge tub of caramel popcorn from his vacation and put it on MY desk so I keep smelling it....I can't take it!!

We got a lot done this weekend. We did the seating chart, programs, wrapped all the bridal party gifts, started packing (we're moving this weekend to our new apartment), started writing our vows and made our OOT gift bags to give to the hotel next week. Whew! Not really a vacation weekend...

Question for you girls in the Penthouse room - we have round tables. When we were making our seating chart, we ended up with most tables having either 9 or 10, but two or three tables only have 7 (for example, we only wanted the 2 sets of parents and grandparents at the main table which equals 7) - will this look strange???? let me know what you girls think.

We have our final final appt on Thursday night so I will let you know how that goes. We have to pay and give in our seating chart, as well as take everything for the ceremony/reception including centerpieces (they are silk).

Hope everyone else is doing well!! jozieb0925, you're not far behind me!! What else do you have left to do?

Julestrd, you are right, it does look like a simple cake (it is stunning! Our cake is very simple as well) My only thought on why Anna is giving you a hard time may be the size of it?? I know all of the cakes they show you there only have three layers. Are you willing to go with one less layer? Then I would say you have a very strong argument that it is not any more extravegant than the cakes they offer.

Hope this helps....

Ok, totally not JT related, but I just made my appointment at Completely Bare for bikini wax before HM - and I'm nervous!! I've never had this done before. Any thoughts?? Ouch!!

GOOD POINT. I didn't think of that. I believe all of the cakes were 3 layers at JT..so def. mention that to Anna, if you really love it.
I'm bad. I'm too scared to get a wax down there too..You're brave for making an apptment. I need to grow some and do it myself...where is completely bare? are they good?

J Sisters is pretty good. I go there. I use Giselle. It hurts like hell the first time but if you keep it up every 5 - 6 weeks you really do get used to it. Weird but it does not hurt as much after a while. Don't get me wrong, it is still a little painful and I take advil about an hour before.

I would be the same way at work..I am already not focusing..

As far as the seating arrangements go, I still have to work on mine, but I don't think I am going to be able to seat 10 or less per table. I will most likely be having 12 per table (guest list is approx 230 right now)..we might fall into the same situation where I will have to seat less than 12 per table depending on who's left after we make final seating arrangements(does that make sense?) ..But, I def don't think there is anything wrong with 7 per table especially if you have tables of 9 or 10. I wish I could have a smaller count per table. I feel the more room the better.

I have a few more things to do as well..like make the OOT bags, print placecards, make church programs, pack for HM...I have lots of little things to do...

Let us know how your meeting goes on thursday!! Good luck!!

Nope, we never discussed a budget, only the time of year. We said February afternoon since most of the halls gave us the best price for that time of year. I will ask Mike about the Deluxe Menu. So far we are at $55 pp with 150 guarantee.

If we go with JT, I am asking for chair covers. Or I would want to use the ones from the cocktail hour with the gold tone backs. I like them much better than that flower pattern.

Hmmm. Silk flowers are probably much cheaper, huh? If you don't mind, how much did they run.

We are thinking flowers will be like $1700 - assuming 15 centerpieces, some rose petals for the place card table, dais, bouquets for bridesmaids (plus mine) and bouts for the guys as well as some bathroom pieces. Someone on this site used Burtons and she got about that plus a few other items for $1700.

Yeah, he is happy I found the site though. It helped to narrow down our choices a lot. He did not want to go to 20 halls and we did not want to hike out to Suffolk County either since we live in BK.

You ladies are really on top of things.

That sounds silly since you are already paying for 170. I'm pretty sure Mike told me they would throw in extras if we did not hit the minimum. I do not have my notes with me at work though but I definitley asked that question.
