Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

I just wanted to let you girls know that I went to a wedding at WM last night and it was amazing!! I am soooo happy that I picked the WM!!! The food was excellent, the service was great, the Manor room looked amazing. Our waiter was the best! Nobody at our table had to get up to get a drink (unless they wanted to) we asked and he brought them. We told him that we were getting married there August 5 and he wrote down the date and said that he will make sure that he would be there for it. the only complaint that I have about it was that at cocktail hour they ran out of alot of items and you had to wait until thet refilled it which took some time. The fried calamari (sp?) was excellent! Any questions just ask.

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

Hi, I have a question as always...

Our wedding is coming up soon (!!), and we need to give the manor the final count of guests tomorrow.
Here's the problem - we're just not sure yet about a couple of them. So we will just give the 'final' number but *what if* one or two more people show up on the day of? Has this happened to anyone before?
If there are no-shows, I suppose we still pay for whatever number we gave them beforehand. But I just wasn't sure about how they handle it if there are more people for some reason.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

I think it's better to say less and then add on day of the wedding than to say more. If they don't show up, you will be asked to pay for them.
Can you call the people up and ask if they're coming or not?

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

I would say less than more. THey can always add a place setting. You should prepare an alternate seating arrangement and ask those guest to give you a call maybe the night before so you can go there prepared the day of. I wound up paying for 9 additional plates and I had a feeling that some of them weren't going to show. I should have trusted my gut.

I'm not a past bride, but I was told by WM they have an attendant and bathroom baskets. One bride posted beautiful pics of her tables and I recall seeing the table numbers in frames...nice frames. I'll see if I can find the link...

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

Thank you for your advice - we will give them the lower estimate :) We were supposed to do that today and left a message but they haven't called back.

It's so strange to have only about a week left before the wedding!

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

I had to look up the WBM brides today , since this weekend is our 1 year anniversary.

What I did with the numbers is I told them 5 less. I told them that I had a few family memebers who had a family emergency and that I would not know until day of if thery were commign or not. So what I did is put notes on the table maps statign whre these people would go if they were to come and when we walked in my mom told them that they were coming and they made all the necessary arrangements.

Good luck you are goign to be so happy with WBM.

Wishing you all the day that you all have dreamed of.

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

My first real payment is due to WM on June 1. I thought I was told that it could only be paid with a certified check or money order, but I got a 'bill' in the mail that says to mail in your check.

So can I just send in a regular check????

I dont remember seeing a bathroom basket. there is an attendant though, but I didnt do a bathroom basket b/c there is more than 1 affair going on, so I didnt know who would use the basket.

We didn't use a basket either...WM provided things in the bathroom that our guests could use. No complaints, the guests really liked how they were all in their 'Own' bathroom. Each stall had its own sink and mirror...very nice!

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

Another question to the past WM brides who got married during the day...

How long after the reception did you actually get to stay in the bridal suite?
My reception is until 6pm, and they told me I will have the bridal suite until...um, 6pm. It's not that I'm planning to stay until 7pm or anything, but some of my family members coming from the city want to change before leaving (I probably will want to change also). Do you think there will be time for that, or are they going to literally kick us out? We will also need some time for giving out tips and stuff I assume...

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

My reception is a Saturday evening and it begins at 6:30 so I imagine they want to straighten up the bridal suite for the next bride coming in. I would have your relatives change in the restrooms at the WM, or have them use the bridal suite a little before 6pm.
