Has anyone done (or thinking of doing) the motu private picnic in Bora Bora? It seems like that 'once in a lifetime' type of thing, but it is btw. $800 - $1000! Not sure if it is really worth it.

i wanted to do that......![]()
Was thinking about going but not sure...
Where's everyone staying? How long are you girls going for?
Yeah. It is serious $$$ and those are the best prices I found. I'm staying at Hilton Bora Bora Nui in an OWB. We'll be there for 6 days and 1 day in Tahiti.
when are you going? We're going the next day after our wedding. So we'll be sleeping on the plane. We're staying at the nui as well for 3 nights. 1 night in tahiti - manava, than 5 nights in moorea hilton...3 nights in bora bora nui...Did you get any honeymoon amenties? I think our travel agent included a few items in each place.
What are you plans to do?
We're waiting a few days and then leaving on the Saturday after our wedding. Only amenities is breakfast is included each day. I didn't really want to plan for anything.

How much should I realistically be willing to spend for airfare/hotel/food/etc for a week in this area? Need to start major budgeting for this!

It really all depends on what you want: 3 star vs. 5 star hotel? Meals included or not? Excursions? Overwater bungalow or garden?
I spent FOREVER looking for a deal. When all is said and done it came out to $6100 for both of us - 4 star hotel in Bora Bora in an overwater bungalow, breakfast included for 5 nights (and 1 night in Tahiti). That doesn't include the $$$ we'll spend on food while there or excursions. Start with tripology.com and three travel agents will contact you. Also look at Islands in the Sun and GoTahiti.

It's about 10k for the two of us - 1 night in a 4 Star hotel in Tahiti, 5 nights in a 4 Star hotel in Mooera (with breakfast), 3 nights in a 5 Star hotel in Bora Bora (with breakfast) and some extra goodies.
FM if you want other details - I did a pretty detailed search before booking...

AirTahiti is part of the One World Alliance with American Airlines. So, you can use AAdvantage miles. However, I ended up not using them because the deal I got was better than using the miles.

Ha! I haven't been on this board in a while!!!
You could also use the points for the airfare to Cali. I saved points and flew round trip for free to cali. there's no direct flights from NY to Tahiti... you have to fly to cali regardless. So that's another option.
and HAVE FUN ON THE HM GIRL!!!!

I would recomend both of those hotels!!! THey are both VERY nice!!!
I think the Sofitel is a little more expensive.
A friend stayed there in Moorea and said there were A LOT of French there. She also stayed there in Bora Bora. It seemed like a LOVELY hotel though... and we did visit it!
I stayed at the Pearl in Moorea and it was great!!! The one in Bora Bora is really awesome too!!
Those are 2 great hotel picks!!!

Re: Bora Bora Thread
Well, I have been COMPLETELY consumed by researching our Honeymoon. We've decided on ONE night in Tahiti InterContinental (Lagoon View)
From there, we'd like to take the ferry to Moorea (as I am not a fan of tiny planes, or flying at all for that matter).
7 nights in Moorea - InterContinental Moorea
6 nights in Bora Bora InterContinental Thalasso.
We've obviously been looking into InterContinental Hotels since they are offering multi-island discounts as well as including breakfast, some dinners in Moorea and ALL dinners in Bora Bora.
We are open to suggestions for any island if someone thinks they have a better idea for us or if you have had any good/bad experiences.
We have received quotes around $12,500 for just the barebones of the trip: hotel, airfare, and transfers (with the meals mentioned above included.)
And a quote of $14,000 that included 3 additional dinners in Moorea, 4x4 tours of Bora Bora & Moorea, and a Dolphin Experience in Moorea.
Does anyone have any opinions on this trip/these prices/these hotels?????
We need to make a decision tomorrow.
This is such an expensive trip and I don't want to make the wrong decision. I am getting more confused with the more reviews I am reading!
Please help!

hmmm im not sure about the quotes. hard to compare, but heres our:
we are paying about 10K for 11 nights 12 days, 4 nights moorea (intercontinental) and 7 nights bora bora (interconinental for 2 days and pearl for 5) we are getting breakfast only in Moorea. we didnt sign up for a meal plan for dinner because we wanted to explore the restaurants on the island. Edit- i should add that both hotels on Bora Bora we are staying in an over water bungalow (not sure if you guys are or not, but price wise, just letting you know)
when are you going? our wedding is the 20th and we are leaving on the 22, our first night is the 23!
also- you should sign up for the ambasador club, since you are staying at all intercontinental hotels. Its 150 for the membership, but any ambasador club hotel you stay at, you get upgraded.

Re: Bora Bora Thread
Also, has anyone stayed at the Four Seasons? The travel agent I am working with just suggested this itinerary:*1 Night InterContinental Tahiti (Lagoon View)
*6 Nights Intercontinental Moorea (Beach Suite Bungalow)
*4 Nights Intercontinental Bora Bora Thalasso (Over Water Sapphire Bungalow)
*3 Nights FOUR SEASONS -Bora Bora (Over water Beach View Bungalow)
it was only a couple hundred dollars more to switch the IC to the Four Seasons... and it's the FOURS SEASONS! (With a jetski tour, 3 dinners, and 2 massages.)
IS IT WORTH IT??? Or would anyone say that the Thalasso is better?
SOOOOO CONFUSED!!!!
This trip (with ALL interisland flights/transfers, and flights from JFK to PPT) is just under $13,000.00 for the 2 of us. We are getting ALL breakfasts at every hotel, and 7 dinners (while in Bora Bora).
Is this a good price? How much addtional do you think we'll spend while we are actually there?!
(Shark Excursions, whale tours, ATVs and the other 7 nights of dinner)

Re: Bora Bora Thread
posting here as well as BHB.can you let me know of your experience with air tahiti nui? was your flight on time? early? late?
Our flight from LA to home was just rescheduled, and now we arent sure if we are gonna make the flight home. we now have an hour and 15 mnutes inbetween... and we have to go through customs, and then get to a different terminal and check our bags again....
Continental isnt being nice about it either. and the only flights they offer have stops and wont get us home until midnight. (we had a direct flight)
thanks
