it rained 15 days in December, I think this is from 2008 though. I posted some weather info on page 1 of this thread.
I went in November. Moorea weather was great!! actually the week I was in Moorea the weather was great on all Islands. Bora Bora had great weather for 2 of the 5 days we were there... all the Islands got rain on those days though. I was in the French Polynesian area for a little over 2 weeks... of those days about 3 were rain rain rain... all day long.

we're staying at the HIlton Bora Bora also! What type of overwater bungalow did you get?
IT IS AWESOME! Had room 105 and it was perfect. Got an amazing view of the mountain. My new camera wire is coming in soon. As soon as I get it, I will post pics and give a review. Hilton Bora Bora Nui is great!

We are BOOKED!!
We actually changed things up a bit and decided on this itinerary:
*Leaving JFK on Oct 17 and going to LAX
*LAX to PPT overnight flight and arrive Oct 18th 5:30am
*Puddle jumper to Moorea
*7 Nights Intercontinental Moorea Beach Suite Bungalow (w/ Breakfast included).
*Flight to Bora Bora
*4 NightsBora Bora Intercontinental Resort and Thalasso Spa, Sapphire Overwater Upgraded to Diamond Bungalow, 4 nights (Breakfast and Dinner Included Daily)
*3 Nights FOUR SEASONS Bora Bora (Breakfast and Dinner Included Daily) Overwater Bungalow Beach View
All inter-island flights and transfers from airport to hotel.
We are so so so so so excited! We'll be gone for a total of 16 nights, but only 14 nights in the hotel.
Does anyone have any suggestions of activities to do in Moorea or Bora Bora... or specific room numbers to request?

awesome- try to make rsvps at villa mahanna - it's in bora bora...a lot of people raved about the place and see if they would let you be seated upstairs instead. what activities are you planning on doing? We're going this month - we booked the Dr. Poole Excurison, Shark & Whale watching, Jetski adventure, renting a car in Moorea, and some other tours. I wished we could go for 14 nights. We're going for 10 days 9 nights. You're going when it's not as busy and it's a little less expensive. We're going towards HIGH Season. Did you book thru travel agent? If so you should ask them about tours and such. FM if you have any questions.

that sounds amazing!!! and much like our honeymoon! hahahahah!!!! i thought we were going during the same time frame, but we arent! bummer!!!
we are staying at the intercontinental moorea for 4 nights, and then the thalasso for 2, and then the pearl for 5!!
def make reservations at villa mohana, like the above poster said. and ask for the VIP table at the top. there are only like 6-7 tables at the restaurant, so you want to make sure you make reservations. Bloody marys is good too i heard... trying to think of the other restaurants! my mind is going blank today!
do you golf? cause theres a course on Moorea.
we heard swimming with the stingrays and sharks is a must. and theres some snorkling thing with a private BBQ on a motu, forget the actual name of it. umm, on moorea theres the 4WD drive tour of the inner island, which is supposed to be AMAZING, cuase they take up up top the mountain, and theres sick views! ummm im trying to think of the other things we are loking into... do you like deep sea fishing?? cause thats supposed to be awesome! and i think really good at your time of year, not so much during our stay
have an amazing time!!!!!!

Re: Bora Bora Thread
We are about to book our hm! Let me know your thoughts...JFK to LAX to Papeete arrive 9:30pm
1 night Manava Suites Tahiti
Ferry to Moorea
5 nights Hilton Moorea Deluxe Garden Bungalow w/ private pool (incl bkfst)
champagne on arrival
4x4 Jeep tour Moorea
Flight to Bora Bora
6 nights St,. Regis Bora Bora overwater bungalow (incl bkfst)
champagne on arrival
Dinner at Bloody Mary's incl

With insurance it will be about $12,500....is that good? normal? bad? I negotiated with two agents and had them basically compete.

thanks! soo exciting you're lving soon! you must FM me when you get back!
ok, so don't worry abt the luggage thing. i was in panic mode and my travel agent assured me it would be fine. each person is allowed to check 2 bags, 44 lbs each! plus if you're like under 10 lbs over they dont bother you. if you're more than that you pay per lb over, but it probably wouldnt come to that.
besides US restrictions are 50lbs anyway...

Re: Bora Bora Thread
This is from our TA's 'need to know before you go'Baggage Allowance:
The allowance is two checked bags per person with total dimension not to exceed 106 inches, with no individual bag to exceed 62 inches. If traveling between the islands in FP, free checked baggage allowance on Air Tahiti is two bags (combined weight not to exceed 44 pounds) per person. Also, each passenger may take one carry on bag in addition to the checked bags. Ait Tahiti may charge you a one time excess baggage fee if your checked baggage exceeds 44 pounds per person.

yes it's 44lbs per person.
but you can upgrade to class Z for a fee and that raises the weight limit to 90 something lbs each i think. i forget the exact number but it should be listed on this thread someplace.
talk to your TA about it for the specifics. You also upgrade to class Z weight through the TA.
HTH!!
Have a GREAT TIME LADIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's an amazing place to be!!!
