Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

For all Garden Terrace brides...

Is the bridal suite accessible from anywhere but inside the room??

For some reason I just thought of this now...I guess I can't go in there to freshen up before our reception entrance. Is there somewhere else to go??

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

Hello everyone, we just booked at FH this past week and are soooo excited. My sister got married there and I had a blast, but ours will be different so that will be good. We are getting married outside (hopefully) and then having the CH in the Petite Garden and forget the other room's name. Our reception will be in the WGP, I love that room so much. We have been reading all of your threads and love all of the advice everyone has given. I lived in Long Island for 25 years of my life but then moved to Florida last year. I ended up meeting my 'Fee' there and knew I had to get married in Long Island. I knew FH was the place. Anyway, I live in Florida now so can take all the advice we can get. We have our DJ already and I found my dress. Can't wait to join the fun convo's.....

Soooo excited couple,
Wendy and Mario

Does anyone have any good suggestions on who to use for uplighting, or has anyone used uplighting at their wedding? How did it look?

TIA

I have the same question too. Which room are you using? I was thinking about getting uplighting from my florist or DJ whomever I finally choose :)

They will bring you into the bridal suite before the guests enter the reception room because that is where you enter the receptionm from. Also, there is a backdoor to the suite from the back of the gardens.

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

Hello Ladies,

I am back from my honeymoon and am now a Mrs.! Wanted to let you know how amazing the FH was, so this will be a long one. If there is anything specific you want to know feel free to contact me.

Everyone raved about the food and decor. The staff was amazing!! It turned out that we were the only wedding on our big day so we had the whole place to ourselves. It had rained the night before so we couldn't use the gardens near the Garden Terrace room for our ceremony because of lots of mud. Instead, we used the outdoor garden area that is usually reserved for Winter Garden brides. It was beautiful, the only negative was that since the Winter Garden is the smaller room, the outdoor area was set for less people and many guests ended up standing. My DH and bridesmaid OKed the switch so none of us thought about the chair situation.

The cocktail hour was held on the patio and it was wonderful, from what I hear lol. We did attend the cocktail hour but we did not eat, my bridal attendent did hand me a huge glass of champagne though! w\We spent the whole time greeting guests. The good part was that one person gae us their card and then everyone else followed suit, in the end we ended up greeting everyone in that hour so we didn't go to tables at the recepetion. About 10 minutes before the e4nd of cockatil hour they took us to the bridal suite until our entrance. Alexandra and Harry made sure we didn't want for anything all night! My DH, bridesmaids, and i all had thermoses and drink containers with straws (we all spill) and the staff kept taking them and refilling them for us all night.

The dinks flowed all night for everyone without any problems. Just a reminder in case you do not know, shots are not allowed unless the guest is with you or your DH. At one point my DH went to the bar and had the DJ call people to the bar to do shots, almost everyone lined up for one lol. A negative, my bridal party told me yesterday that the dinner orders were taken while we were all waiting to do our reception entrance, since my bridal party was sitting at different tables they waiters/waitresses didnt return to get their orders so they had to find their waiters/waitresses to order or luckily a date ordered for them.

Everyone raved about out food, the only thing they didn't enjoy was the shrimp/salad duet. They also said the cake was yummy which I was glad to hear since we had a little issue 3 days before the wedding. Erga, the bakery that makes the cake, called me and said that to do what I wated they needed to use fondant instead of buttercream, which of course meant more money. I was so angry. I had been in touch with the bakery at least 5 times (including 5 days before the wedding after we had already dropped off the riboon and brouches to be placed on the cake) with photos and materials for the cake-Lily never said there was an issue until she called 3 days before the wedding to ask for more money. I was very clear about that point too, so she lowered the price. I called FH and told them I was very angry. I also told them that since I paid 5 people have cancelled so could we use that money towards the cake and I was told no, that aggrivated me. We had been told by friends to give a lower number than our actual so when people cancel you do not waste money, problem is that when you go they count all the people on the tables and add them together to be sure it equals the number you gave. So, we gave our real number so everyone would have a place to sit and a placecard. In the end we lost money on 12 people that we know of, so pissed about that!

Reverend Nick was fantastic, as were all my vendors. We used Photography by Paul Marino (Long Island, NY) and Paul did an amazing job on our photos. I highly recommed him to all of you. You can see our photos here:

Harry was our Maitre'd, everyone raved about him and they were SO right! Alexandra was our bridal attendent and she was good as well. We used Halo Video, (Queens, NY) Dyker Heights Florist (Brooklyn, NY), and E Squared DJs/Entertainment (Staten Island, NY). Elena of The Bridal Touch (Long Island, NY) did hair for 9 of my girls,, Alison Biondo Luciano (Brooklyn, NY) did myself plus 4 others. Make-up by Lisa Mooney and her sister (Staten Island, NY). Our rehersal was at Cherrywood Pizza & Restaraunt in Wantagh, NY and it was delicious!! The staff was fantastic as well. If you are interested in any of these vendors or the FH feel free to contatct me. Everyone was very professional and did a great job!

We stayed at the Inn at Fox Hollow the night before and the night of our wedding, this was top notch! Everyone there was great and the hotel is beautiful! Many of our other guests stayed at the Executive Inn, the staff is terrible, but the hotel served its purpose of a place to hang out, sleep, and apparently drink lol. We had shuttles from the Executive to the FH which ran fine BUT be sure to reconfirm that the week of your wedding. We had Gabby's Deli (down the street from the FH) deliver food to the Inn at FH the morning of wedding since we began getting ready so early, the earliest delivery is 6am. The food was good, but expensive and we had a TON leftover. I wanted a Continental Breakfast and the minimum was 15 people which was way too much food.

We honeymooned in Mexico at the Aventura Spa Palace and then in Vegas at THEhotel at Mandalay Bay. I highly recommend both!! When we arrived home yesterday our marriage license was here, WARNING, we were told to check everything before signing, we were so consumed checking our address, birthdate/location, etc. that we didn't notice my first name is spelt wrong. I will be going to the courthouse tomorrow to see what I need to do now, what a bummer!

Here are some of the pics our friends took.
Good luck to all of you!!!

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

Has anyone ever done lighting other than uplighting around the perimeter of a room? I want to do something with white Christmas lights to get a twinkle/star effect but not sure how to go about doing it. TIA

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

Hi everyone! First, I just wanted to say that this board is awesome and has answered many of my questions. I came across one post that had all the questions and answers listed and saw that you can do a tasting to choose the food for the cocktail hour? How does one go about doing so? Who do I speak to about this? I have my 2 month appointment with Jennifer on August 6th. Is it too late for me to try to schedule something? I would love to try to sample the food before making my decision. Thanks.

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

They do not do any tastings. The only thing that they might do is offer some free stuff when you eat at the restaurant.
