Re: Hey Ladies...Let's post reception halls and there prices for 07 as we go on our search?

Hello!

So I went to Vanderbilt Mansion on Dowling College, and it was really really pretty... The price wasn't bad, and it seems like they give you a lot of food!!!

BUT... I really didn't like the entrance that the guest would come in... It was a little weird looking... And it didn't look like a Mansion, b/c you enter the back part, and really don't go to the front...

I am really really torn... My FH didn't like that it looked a little too much like a College, as Deseversky is on a college but is no where near the campus...

I just don't know!! I fell like I have no other options... I have looked everywhere!!!

Hey Prinses...
Glad you liked Vanderbilt Mansion... I had cancelled my appt with the Woodlands so I can't really give you an opinion on it... We decided on The Carltun so that is why I didn't bother going there. I heard it was nice though.. but judging from your posts, it seems you & your fiance really love DeSeversky... Go with your gut! Good luck

since you like mansion type places... did you look at the Harrison House is Glen Cove? Thats really nice.. and it has the hotel attached so you don't even have to leave after. Has a lot of ammenities too.. pub upstairs w/ games & card tables etc, small/old bowling alley in t he basement & a lot more. My sister got married there last fall.. it was very nice. It may require more people than you are having though... Another place to maybe to confuse you even more.. hehe

Hi,

I saw your posting and I wanted to know if you booked Russo's on the Bay or if you visited them. We're really interested in them.

Thanks much

Re: Hey Ladies...Let's post reception halls and there prices for 07 as we go on our search?

Does anyone know of a place in Nassau, where we can have 100 people, be the only wedding and not spend more than $100/per person?

Any suggestion is appreciated!

Re: Hey Ladies...Let's post reception halls and there prices for 07 as we go on our search?

OK!!!! So, I went to the Harrison House... and I LOVED IT!!!!

but... I would need to get married on a SAT afternoon b/c I only want 125ppl... The quoted me $150, I really really liked it...

But then I think, so much money... with the band, and the dress, and flowers,... I also want a house.... HUMMMMMMMMMM......

maybe I should just go to city hall... my mom thinks I am crazy... shes like 'its just money' you won't have the memories of a beautiful wedding if you don't do what you dream ... but I can dream in a beautiful house!!!

I am confused...

Re: Hey Ladies...Let's post reception halls and there prices for 07 as we go on our search?

You will have a BEAUTIFUL affair at the Harrison House.... The food is very good too!! And you cannot beat the pub upstairs... my sister had the afternoon there & i think its better in the afternoon for the Harrison House... You will be able to see the beautiful grounds it has and also afterwards you can make use of all the ammentities there. The pub i think is open until 1 or 2am.. so you'll be able to stay up there from when your wedding ends until closing... while the night wedding by the time everyone changes and everything probably will only have an hour or so up there. They have a really nice brunch the next day too. We ordered finger foods and played cards in the pub all night.. it was awesome!! So don't have any doubts about this place... its fantastic! My friend is also getting married there next sept... and try negotiating the price a little.. they dropped it a little for my sister & also for my friend.

Re: Hey Ladies...Let's post reception halls and there prices for 07 as we go on our search?

Yes I thought there was plenty of food... and it is good, quality food. I wouldn't say there was a HUGE amount of food but it is comparable to other places. somehow my friend got them to throw in the seafood boat into her cocktail hour with no extra charge. I think the cocktail hour had 4-5 stations and 10 passed hor d'vores... & it was all really good. I thinnk the coconut shrimp were a big hit. & the meal is 4 courses---appetizer, salad, entree, & then dessert--cake w/ i think 2 other desserts on the plate w/ platters of stuff on the tables. Unless they took stuff away but that is what my sister had. She actually got married in Italy! & then when we got back a week later we had her reception at HH. The next morning we saw a wedding ceremony being set up outside & that looked pretty.. i have no idea where it would be if it was indoors. She worked with Bill there but i hear the woman (not sure of her name) is really good. The only really thing i disliked there was the size of the dance floor.. it is a portable dance floor so i kept tripping! lol & it was a little small. Everything else was great. Hope this helps.
