Search fucntion is not the greatest![]()
I agree! the Search function bugs me...
Yeah me too, I agree the search function needs help.
Would you ladies be so kind as to elaborate on what you dislike about the search feature? It's kinda hard to improve something when you don't know what the problem with it is

Re: LIW Pet Peeves
My pet peeve is one vendor who obviously reads BHB board and then FM's me her responses!! I know she is trying to be helpful but it bothers me esp since it's like she's being sneaky because she KNOWS she get screamed at if she answered on our board - so i get FMs!! from a vendor - about not vendor things - this has happened from this vendor numberous times - wonder if she'll FM me when she sees this!!

Here's an example. If I search for hair in the Bride's review, I get no responses.
And I know there are tons of reviews on ahir stylist on that board.

I completely agree and I will try to elaborate. Many times I enter a word that I know was in the subject line of a post and the thread I am looking for does not come up. (for instance try searching for 'ultimate' to find the to-do list I posted once)
Another pet peeve: vendors (or relatives/friends/associates of vendors, ahem) who pose as real brides OR maybe are real brides but ONLY post about THAT vendor, or only recommend vendors and 'gently' bash others. It's so blantantly obvious sometimes that it makes me ill. A REAL BRIDE has questions, concerns, shares her joys & milestones and even frazzles every once in a while.... she doesn't ONLY REPLY to posts asking about vendors. DUH. How dumb do you think we are anyway?
Sorry got a little excited there.
Anyway the other pet peeve is that you can't go back and INSERT emoticons in your post. For instance. That smiley up there, if I wanted to add it as an afterthought, I have to either type it out or click the icon, then copy and paste it into where I want it.
But I still love you LIW!

I DONT LIKE WHEN PEOPLE YELL FOR NO GOOD REASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING EXCITING TO SAY, BY ALL MEANS SHOUT IT OUT, but for everyday talk lets keep it at a normal tone.

another thing that bothers me is when posters only post about themselves. Or when they respond to your topics with 'oh, well I'm doing ----', when you asked for suggestion/tips. I don't when people are self-involved.
Related to this is when someone posts asking either about feedback for a specific vendor and people respond telling her either 1) she's spending too much money (when she didn't ask their opinion on that) or 2) they say 'I don't know anything about X, but you should try my photographer, florist, hair stylist, etc.' This hasn't really happened to me, but when someone has already done the leg work and narrowed her choices, I don't think these kinds of comments are necessarily what she's looking for even though I'm sure the other person is just trying to be helpful. JMHO.

'How do you like my....?' and then they don't really want your opinion, just want people to tell them the look beautiful (which is usually the case anyway). And when people can't make decisions for themselves on even the tinist thing.
Those are my pet peeves -- you asked, you got it.

yes yes yes.
And people that are purposely MEAN to others. No need. If you do not like something it's OK to voice it but to be purposely mean and nasty and condesending even just bugs me.
Or the posters that know 'everything' about 'everything' ...

I can't stand when people put someone's name in the subject line and then carry on a private conversation with them. Isn't that what FM is for?

Exactly - I will never forget when I posted a pic of my wedding shoes - and yes - I was looking for opinions - but one poster was so nasty and was using words like 'cheap' - eww - no need to be a rude be-atch!!

I hate when you post something and then one someone responds - someone else says hi to her - and then the entire post goes back and forth between those couple of posters and it's not about your post anymore!

Re: LIW Pet Peeves
When there is a really long post but only one paragraph - they are hard to read on the computer. When people say it's going to be a long post and it's something like 8 sentences (it's not really annoying, but I think it's funny b/c it's really not long at all).
Not specific to LIW but when people use abbreviations like 2 for to and r for are - I doubt the poster is saving so much time by eliminating a key stroke here or there.
When someone discovers a fake bride and then goes on and on about it. Call them out if you have to and then let it go, I never understood creating a big thread about it.
But I love the interaction, the ideas, suggestions that you get from LIW and that it has become a LI community not just about weddings.

I have learned that the search is an exact keyword search. So to get results your search words have to be exactly as it appears in the thread. It some what defeats the purpose for the search.
For example, let's say I wanted the 'hair style thread', if I type hair styles or hairstyles it won't come up. I have to type exactly as it is in the thread - hair style.
