they can't push it back because there's a mass starting at 8pm. i can't believe that the Church has all of these things going on in such a short period of time. 1 wedding, 2 rehearsals, and 1 Mass all in 3 hours! FH was asking me last night, 'what the heck are we paying them $ for? they haven't helped us in anyway.'

Seriously, there is no need for a 'donation' from you for the church. You should speak to someone in the Arch Diocese. This is ridiculous.

THe church really screwed up, what they should have did was called the girl and said they messed up and scheduled a wedding for 6pm and give her the dilemma of having it at 5pm. Im mean honestly moving your rehearsal an hr is not a big deal like a wedding.

I agree. They should have never given her the choice to change her rehearsal time or not. The wedding is significantly more important and she should've been forced to schedule her rehearsal around that!

What about the possiblity of going to a different church!? Then maybe you could just send out a new direction card, the time is what people really care about at first on the invitation anyway.

This definetely STINKS and the money that you have to spend to fix the invites is awful. But, just remember the whole point of that day is to marry your FI. I know it sounds mushy, but nothing really matters but the two of you exchanging vows and living happily ever after. We all want the perfect wedding day (that is why we are obsessed with this website right!? haha), but we sometimes just have to stop and realize that we are lucky to have found the person we want to spend the rest of our lives with and even if nothing goes right, it will still be an amazing day that you will hold dear to you forever.

But in some cultures rain on the wedding day is a sign of good luck, and I'm not sure you really wanted to wish her that.

When FH and I booked the Church, we told them it would be 5pm or 6pm Mass and she said that was fine because no one else would be getting married after us. I have everything set for a 6pm Mass, I just called to confirm our officiant and low and behold she has us down for 5pm and cant change it because there's a rehearsal after us! I'm freaking out because we just had the invitations completed and they all say 6pm!!!! FH is freaking out on me now and screaming that we will have to pay another $500 for the new invites! I just called the woman at the rectory again to see if there's any way they could change the time because the invites are done already! I'm waiting for a call back. I need prayers and hugs girls!

ETA: I spoke to the Church lady this morning and she said that she called the other bride to see if she is willing to move her rehearsal time but made sure she added that it was 'a huge inconvenience for the other bride because she may have OOT guests that will now have to leave earlier to be here'. She can bite me! I'm still waiting to see if it can be done. If not, I'm stuck with either invites with a crappy correction insert or having to spend another $500 on new invites!!!

Are you kidding me??? If you don't mind my asking, what type of congregation is this? If it's Catholic, I highly recommend you take your case to the Diocese in Rockville Centre. Explain the situation that you were given the wrong information and perhaps they can pursuade that evil excuse for person, a.k.a. the other 'bride' (if you can call her that), to change her time...by 1 hour!!! I'm so sorry Sweetie!!

That stinks! I can't believe the other bride wouldn't change the rehearsal time. I wonder if the church explained your situation to her. Too bad you couldn't get in touch with her and have a bride-to-bride heart to heart talk!

I've come to grips with reality and I'm actually slowly becoming okay with everything. I've called my vendors and they have no problem with the time change. And Kathy at Follow Your Heart is being absolutely amazing and understanding of my situation with the invitations. In all the madness, it never dawned on me that all I needed changed was the invite itself (not the envelopes, reception card, and rsvp) and she's going to have them reprinted at cost! That made me feel so much better!

On a lighter note, I just called my Mom and told her the bad news and she is calling the Church right now to give them a piece of her mind.

The Church should absolutely waive the donation, or at least the cost of the reprint, even if it's at cost. That is their screw up and they should eat it, as any good business person who made a mistake would offer to do.

I'm sorry that you're going through this...and I would be freaking out too!! But, and this has been my saving grace as of late, everything happens for a reason. So while you may not see it now, perhaps it'll make sense for you later. Maybe you're meant to get married at 5pm!

Since there's nothing you can do, try to breathe, have a little humor and think about the day that awaits you. Let the other bride deal with karma. You wish her a beautiful day...
