Re: NWR: Who Will You Vote For?

here are the facts about the mortgage thing. Like i said, this is ALREADY being done. It was talked about alot in regards to the bail out plan.

McCain made what he claimed was a new proposal to rescue over-mortgaged homeowners:

McCain: As president of the United States. ... I would order the secretary of the treasury to immediately buy up the bad home loan mortgages in America and renegotiate at the new value of those homes – at the diminished value of those homes and let people be able to make those – be able to make those payments and stay in their homes.

McCain added: 'It's my proposal, it's not Sen. Obama's proposal, it's not President Bush's proposal. But I know how to get America working again...'

But in fact, the recently passed $700 billion rescue package already grants the treasury secretary authority to undertake just such a program. It requires the secretary to buy up troubled mortgages while taking into consideration “the need to help families keep their homes and to stabilize communities.” It also says “the Secretary shall consent, where appropriate (to) loss mitigation measures, including term extensions, rate reductions (or) principal write downs.'

Obama himself had urged this as the package was being considered. He said on Sept. 23 that 'we should consider giving the government the authority to purchase mortgages directly instead of simply purchasing mortgage-backed securities.'

Re: NWR: Who Will You Vote For?

I am not going to go back and forth on either side, yes I am voting for Obama -
It does not matter what either candidate proposes to do while they are running for president. They do not pass these laws so if people have issues with the taxes from either contacts it is time to start contacting your senators as they are the one's that will vote. Obama or McCain can bring up any law that they want BUT it HAS to be approved by the Senate for the laws to pass.
Just because either of them might want something to happen does not mean that the senate will pass. It's politics my dears. Right now both sides are saying what they think their group will want to hear to get the votes in.

Im voting for Obama. I just dont think mccain has made a big enough effort to bring Obama down. And I just think that he should have picked someone else for the VP ticket, not Palin. Im al for a lady VP, dont get me wrong, but she was not the best choice. This is not meant to offend n e 1, its just IMO

'I just dont think mccain has made a big enough effort to bring Obama down' Is not a reason to vote for Obama! JMO

Very true! and not only that but some candidates talk alot about what they want to do while running but then after they are in office, they dont even try to do some of those things.

you are right espo....and rather than go back and forth on every issue... I simply say this

I am voting for myself. for the candidate who will help me and my family most in the long run and now. it may sound horrible to some...but i am not thinking of the poor and those on welfare and those who have too many kids that they cannot afford....I am thinking of my family and friends....those whose families came to this country in the true spirit of America...the right to freedom...Freedom to me is a privilege and an honor....and all the things that go with it should be worked for and deserved....done!

I respect your opinion ,an I agree about things should be worked for and deserved , just like my family did in the early 1900 's when they were kicked out of russia for being Jews and came here and worked hard so each generation can have a better life.

what about the millions of american's who don't fall under either catagory , ' rich' or 'poor' 250,00 and above ( which my friends , family DH and I fall under ) and the millons upon millions who are middle class who are affected by what is happening in this economy, in this country. I cannot just look at what will benefit ME and say scr*w the rest of society . I guess its the social worker in me who has been blessed with an upperclass upbringing, but has seen poverty and it is a cycle many cannot get out of for several different reasons and we should all be lucky that we don't have to walk a mile in their shoes .

Unfortunately its the ME mentality that is bringing this country down. And this comment isnt meant to be offensive to anyone, Im just noticing how selfish our country has become. or maybe it has always been that way and Im JUST noticing.

I am proud to say that i am voting McCain...I am not going to get into it like I have in the past because this is not political forum..but...for those who base their voting on the debates..I urge you not to do so.... Know the issues and what each politician wants to do..know what will happen to YOU and your family after the fact. i wont preach...at least I try no too...I apologize again when i have in the past...i just feel that with McCain...my future will be better..because of how much money I make...and Fh...and the company that I work for....because of the life that I have....this is how I think...the American dream started when my dad came to the US at age 11 and taught me right from wrong...taught met to WORK for my money...my healthcare...my possessions....I plan to pass those same values and beliefs to my children one day. Under Obama...many of those things would change...and to me...that is NOT acceptable. JMO....
BTW...not voting is not the answer. No one will ever agree with EVERYTHING any politician has to say...but not voting..especially women...when our ancestors fought so hard for our right to...well thats just awful in my opinion...

Of course, I'm not going to get into it either, but I do agree, 100%...I think it's important to read through where each candidate stands on the issues and I feel that McCain has a vested, compassionate interest in helping this country survive. I mean, with all the money him and his wife have, he doesn't have to do anything! And after surviving 5 years of torture...if it was me I would say I put enough in for helping my country...I just think he's really in this to help the country and he'll do what it takes...

but i dont think its selfish to worry about the welfare of my family first! Why should i have to put other people before them? My father came here with NOTHING! his parents sold their cows and livestock LITERALLY to be able to come here and set up in a small apartment and went to work for their dreams. the saved every penny to get the things they wanted. Where has that pride gone today? People dont do that any more! People cant afford their rent..but the rims on their car cost $5000... Where have our values gone? Why should i have to pay the debts of the less careful...the carefree prehaps. My grandmother would have loved more kids...but she could afford them so she stopped at two....seems reasonable. I see on these boards how so many of us want kids now...want a house now...BUT we are smart...we say...rent now....save money....have kids when we can afford to give them what we deserve....why shouldnt we expect our nation to live like that?
