Re: NWR: Who Will You Vote For?

I completely respect those who disagree.... but I am a proud supporter of John McCain for the following reasons:
On foreign issues - McCain has the experience and respect and in particular truly understands the costs of going to war from his own torture during his tour of duty. Obama wanting to sit down without preconditions with the leader of Iran is ridiculous to me. We shouldn't allow someone who speaks of Israel as a stinking corpse to have carte blanche with the leader of the free world. Obama didn't know how to react to Russia invading Georgia. McCain blasted them immediately and stood up for the Democratic Georgia.
On domestic issues - McCain believes in lower taxes for everyone to help our economy grow. I believe this is the right thing. Obama's plan is pure socialism and it is not the way this country was built. We were raised to believe we could comehere with nothing, work our hearts out, get ahead and then most of us give back to our communities once we become successful - by choice. The government taking my money to give to others is not American. What incentive is there for anyone if when you do reach the higher levels of your career they take your money away from you? I prefer to give to the charities and causes I choose. Choice is American.
On certain womens issues, McCain has stated he is not looking to overturn Roe v Wade. He believes it is a state issue.
Background - it absolutely bothers me that Obama supports ACORN (who has been charged with voter fraud across this country and strongarming people into doing what they feel is right regardless of what others believe in), has relationships with a convicted American Terrorist (Ayers), and has so little experience in ever accomplishing anything in office. McCain served his country, was tortured and refused to be released from that torture early on because it wasn't the right thing to do, and has consistently fought for what he believes is right, many times working bipartisan with Democrats to accomplish good pieces of legislations. I may not always agree with all he's done. But I 100% agree he is the most experienced and best person for the job.
I hope all of you will vote. It's a crucial time in our country and you deserve a say in our future.
One final word, the press is totally biased. MSNBC is blatantly left, CNN and the major networks lean left and Fox leans right. Listen to all of their sides before choosing. Don't let them force you into siding one way. Do the research on your own. And weight both sides. We have two very different choices this year.![]()
thankyou for that post..i dont have the strength to write those long ones anymore...lol

I am proud to say that i am voting McCain...I am not going to get into it like I have in the past because this is not political forum..but...for those who base their voting on the debates..I urge you not to do so.... Know the issues and what each politician wants to do..know what will happen to YOU and your family after the fact. i wont preach...at least I try no too...I apologize again when i have in the past...i just feel that with McCain...my future will be better..because of how much money I make...and Fh...and the company that I work for....because of the life that I have....this is how I think...the American dream started when my dad came to the US at age 11 and taught me right from wrong...taught met to WORK for my money...my healthcare...my possessions....I plan to pass those same values and beliefs to my children one day. Under Obama...many of those things would change...and to me...that is NOT acceptable. JMO....
BTW...not voting is not the answer. No one will ever agree with EVERYTHING any politician has to say...but not voting..especially women...when our ancestors fought so hard for our right to...well thats just awful in my opinion...
very nicely said and i agree with EVERY point you made.. ESPECIALLY the 'im not voting' aspect!

I am Blessed to be making well over $100K and I don't PERSONALLY benefit too much from Obama-Biden's policies....
But I believe that other little girls and boys in the ghetto's of this nation have the right to the same opportunities I did. I'm all for helping the working poor and anyone who wants to make a better life for their families. It's funny, people always complain about illegal immigrants....my parents were illegals and yes, they did not pay taxes. However, they raised 4 children who each earn and pay taxes on AT LEAST 3 times the average American salary.
See beyond yourself and see the bigger picture.
Obama all the way!
What you j ust wrote was amazing to me. I wish more people thought the way you did. I think I country would be a lot better off than it is right now.

well NY always votes democratic, well the winner in ny is usually democratic. But this all depends on electoral votes and depends which states vote democratic and which states vote republican, gotta look at who has a large number of electoral votes. But then again you can have a few states who vote one way with a large number and MANY voting with small amount voting differently which can also add up. California and NY is a safe bet it will be democratic which is a big thing since they have a large amount of electoral votes. Then you have texas which is also huge but usually republican and usually mid-west votes republican.

Re: NWR: Who Will You Vote For?
I completely respect those who disagree.... but I am a proud supporter of John McCain for the following reasons:To lauraandrob2009,
I'm glad you're voting, and I can't fathom why people plan not to. To those of you who plan to abstain, you are abrogating your responsibilities as a citizen. Please vote. If you're not into politics, pick one issue that is MOST important to you, and vote on that.
Back to Lauraandrob2009,
I don't have the energy for a long post, and I could go on for hours, but I had to respond to some of your points.
FIRST OF ALL, TO ALL POSTERS PLANNING ON VOTING MCCAIN, I WILL ENCOURAGE YOU TO READ THIS MONTH'S ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE. Apparently Mr. McCain's military service is not as stellar as he would have us believe. Three crashed planes, using his daddy and grandfather to pull strings for him, graduating at the bottom of his class, carousing with women at every opportunity even with a wife and children at home.
It's hard to bash a POW, and that's what he's counting on. I just ask you to read the articles before you engage in the pile-on which I'm sure is coming. First hand accounts from his peers in the service, AS WELL AS FELLOW POW’S, indicate that he did not conduct himself as bravely as he has portrayed. Certainly more bravely than I would have, but there were guys there who never gave the Vietnamese any information whatsoever. McCain gave them quite a lot. PLEASE DON’T THINK FOR A MINUTE THAT I DON’T RESPECT THE SOLDIERS AND WHAT THEY DO- I HAVE SOLDIERS IN MY FAMILY. But if you are going to hold your POW tenure out there as proof of your presidential mettle, then you have to be prepared to have it scrutinized. Please read the article and others quoting his fellow soldiers from that time. I applaud his service. I do not think it automatically qualifies him as Presidential Timbre.
Your comment about sitting down without preconditions being ridiculous is interesting. You’re letting them make an issue out of nothing. Since when is diplomacy ridiculous?? I think you may not understand what ‘without preconditions’ means. It means, sit down and talk. And no, it doesn’t mean Obama will sit down with Ahmadinejad and chew the fat, it means that lesser members of his cabinet will meet with Iranian government officials in order to try to ameliorate this mess instead of just jumping into war. If you think immediate nuclear war is preferable to trying to talk it out, I don’t understand your reasoning. Look at Iraq. Do you think it worked there? Bush has now sent envoys to try to talk to the Iraqi government. Seems to be, if he had done that BEFORE the war, we’d be $3 trillion richer (the estimated total cost of the war). Not to mention the almost 4200 American soldiers who would be returning to their families.
And that’s not the only human cost. The gravely injured are numbering almost 100,000. The mental health capacity of the Veterans administration is completely taxed, and soldiers are returning with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. And no one thinks of the Iraqi civilian casualties. NO ONE suggests that 9/11 was enabled by the civilian population of Iraq. However, at this point, over 800,000 Iraqi civilians have been KILLED due to this war. Not all by us, but many by insurgents, who we empowered by removing Saddam Hussein from power. We were born in America because we won the genetic lottery. We could just have easily been born in the desert around the world. These people love, have families and dreams just like us. Do you not realize that by having a hand in killing almost a million people over there, we are sowing the seeds of future terrorists?? We have occupied their land. When Bush ran, he SPECIFICALLY said he wouldn’t participate in Nation Building. Well, we went into a sovereign nation, killed their president, and installed our own. I don’t think that’s a recipe for future good relations. It’s our children who will pay. We can cry ‘close to victory’ all we want, but victory over what???
But we would have looked weak if we spoke to them first. Sometimes, pride and ego are the destroyers of worlds. Get over it and sit the F down and talk. Do you punch someone before you try to talk it out??
And by the way, Obama spoke out early and AGAINST public opinion and opposed going to war, saying it would be a protracted war and there was no exit strategy. The experienced McCain got it completely wrong. McCain also said he would stay in Iraq for 100 years, and is looking forward to bombing Iran. Are you willing to give Iran and Iraq your sons and daughters in the future? Because that’s how long these wars and the resulting unrest will go on. And I mean years beyond even that.
It’s so funny to hear McCain talk about the surge. You wouldn’t have needed the surge if we hadn’t gone to war in the first place. He simply will not admit that going to war was a mistake. Why? Because he’s a hawk, and that’s all they know. Maybe THAT’s also why he doesn’t want to try diplomacy. Why, when you can send young men and women to do your talking for you, with guns and bombs? Further, and slightly off-topic, there is a well-reasoned argument that if we hadn’t gotten into the war in the first place, we wouldn’t be in the economic predicament that we are in now.
On domestic issues, I don’t know if you have studied economics, but cutting taxes in a time of war is just nonsensical. Let me ask you, just from common sense:
We are fighting 2 wars.
We are bailing out every industry and then some.
We are bailing out banks at every turn.
They are going to start asking the govt to take over student loans and auto loans next, just wait.
Where do you think the money comes from to pay for stuff like that?? One of two places. Either taxes, or they print more money.
If they print that much more money, inflation will reach levels never before seen in this country.
I don’t want these pigs taking any of my money either-I work hard for it. But taxes pay for things we don’t even see. You see this economic mess we’re in right now?? I know we’re all bitter about the bailout. If it didn’t happen, there would be an imminent depression. No, it’s not about bailing out fat cats. Do you have any idea how many people those companies employ? Do you have any ideas how many loans are out in our economy that are tied up in that mess?? Do nothing to support fixing it, and the disaster would be like nothing we have ever seen. Thank god it passed. Do I like it?? No. But some things are necessary evils.
Like my next point, abortion.
McCain has stated he’s not looking to overturn Roe v. Wade. Of course he said that! To say otherwise would be extremely politically tricky. What he will do is try to fill vacant Supreme Court seats with anti-choice judges.
And remember, this man is 72 with a HISTORY OF CANCER. His imbecile VP pick is even against abortion IN CASES OF RAPE AND INCEST. How, HOW can you put someone like that in reach of the white house?? WHO CHARGED WOMEN FOR RAPE KITS?? Perhaps McCain doesn’t share the same religious zealotry, but his choosing her as VP certainly evidences tacit approval of her stance. Apparently, he’s not that opposed to it if the person he’s trusting with the country in the event of his demise has gone on record stating her heinous position. I don’t care how you feel about abortion- it’s necessary to keep it legal. Why? Because if you make it illegal, then the only people you are hurting are the poor, because the rich will go anywhere (I mean every other civilized nation on EARTH) to get one. But the poor will be sh** out of luck. You know what that means?? The welfare system will be strained for the entire foreseeable future, and conservatives love THAT (actually, as a hardcore Dem, I’m not even thrilled about shelling out for welfare. You want to make it even more?). Women will die trying to get back-alley abortions. How you can support that is beyond my comprehension.
And about ACORN, did you know McCain was a keynote speaker at an ACORN event a few years ago? I’m sure you didn’t. Because they don’t tell you that on Fox News. And for you to say Fox News ‘leans right’…are you serious? I mean, as hard as MSNBC slants “blatantly left” (except of course for their Flagship morning show Scarborough Country- hosted by Joe Scarborough, a former REPUBLICAN Congressman) (although admittedly, Olbermann is a liberal stormtrooper to the nth degree), are you unable to admit that Fox may as well be a paid infomercial for the Republicans?? Or do you truly believe they are fair and unbiased?
I hope at no time did I sound disrespectful. I typed this very fast and don’t have a chance to re-read it. I admit, I get really carried away with this stuff.
I think that’s because after the stolen election in 2000, I expected Bush to lose in a landslide in 2004. After the swiftboat politics of that year, Bush arrogantly told the world in his speech that he had ‘Earned political capital, and now he’s going to spend it.’ Well, that fool is overdrawn, and will go down in history as perhaps the biggest presidential failure of all time.
And, as I mention that 2000 Election, perhaps you remember how McCain got drummed out of it?? It was because Bush hired the Architect Rove and the disgusting wave of Rovian politics ensued.
Do you remember the whisper campaign that turned into a shouting match? Rove/Bush Co. spread the rumor that McCain had fathered a black baby out of wedlock. What he had done, was to ADOPT a Bangladeshi child. I can’t imagine a more disgusting and revolting political move. Either could McCain, who at the time was so incensed that he decried that sort of politics, and the divisiveness of Rovian politics.
Guess what? For his current campaign, he has hired Rove’s protégé, Steve Schmidt. It is also now confirmed that Rove has a position in McCain’s campaign as well. Wonder why you’re hearing about Ayers? Their tactic is to take a non-issue and blow it up so big that you won’t even care for the real issues.
McCain has flipflopped on major issues. HE VOTED AGAINST THE BUSH TAX CUTS. When did he embrace them? When he decided to run for President and needed to embrace the conservative base. HE HAS BEEN HISTORICALLY AGAINST DRILLING IN ANWAR.
But don’t trust me, I’m a Democrat. Trust Lincoln Chafee, former GOP senator, who has been appalled at McCain’s readiness to sacrifice principle for power. “Forget all that Country First sloganeering. McCain is putting himself first. He’s putting himself first in blinking neon lights.”
Please vote. I’m so sorry if I have offended anyone. I feel personally involved in this election, as should we all. If my passion or words have offended, I truly apologize, and I respect you for having an opinion and backing it up.
Please vote. I’m sorry for being a windbag jerk, but please vote. Even if only to shut people like me up!
All that said, I love you ladies, and I still haven’t found a damn DJ.

i read what you wrote and you are an educated voter and respect your views. My only thing is that either way I dont see this ear ending. Maybe in Iraq but whether its Mccain or Obama seems like Afghanistan is next. Obama is against the iraqi war but wants to start in Afghanistan. I am not for either president to tell you the truth, not crazy about either or which is sad. I was always strongly for one candidate but not this time.
Which can i just say that its insane how they haven't found this guy, has anyone seen reports on delta force and knowing where he is. The guy in charge of the operation spoke out about it and was on 60 mins, the guy even had to have plastic surgery to change his face its crazy. He said how they had radio's and found out where he was, they were able to track it down. They even had someone as an informant that the government paid MILLIONS of dollars to for his information. One night they were ready to attack going by what this informant told them. The informant took the money and screwed them in the end. But they still bombed the caves in a certain area, they found out through the radios they used to pick up other radios and hearing osama speaking, that they did infact bomb one of his caves that he was in and he injured his shoulder. But Osama's men were able to carry him out of there and took him elsewhere. They say now he has set up camp right by this al qaieda grave. They showed live footage the army shot of the soldiers going through all of the caves, and here is the crazy part, they thought for 6 months that they actually killed Osama, but after 6 months they picked up radio signals and thats when they found out he was still alive and just hurt his shoulder from the explosion.
So if we know the area in which he is in, even if not exact location but a couple miles radius, then why the F*CK is it so difficult

in what ad did mccain call obama a 'terrorist'? obama does have ties to a terrorist (which is a HUGE red flag in my book!) and i have seen that stated in an ad, but i havent ever seen mccain call obama a terrorist.
no one is right to yell those kinds of things about the candidates at these rallies, unfort it happens on both sides (ive seen mccain being called a murderer, for one). its just wrong for anyone to pull those nasty punches.
