you are right espo....and rather than go back and forth on every issue... I simply say this

I am voting for myself. for the candidate who will help me and my family most in the long run and now. it may sound horrible to some...but i am not thinking of the poor and those on welfare and those who have too many kids that they cannot afford....I am thinking of my family and friends....those whose families came to this country in the true spirit of America...the right to freedom...Freedom to me is a privilege and an honor....and all the things that go with it should be worked for and deserved....done!

I respect your opinion ,an I agree about things should be worked for and deserved , just like my family did in the early 1900 's when they were kicked out of russia for being Jews and came here and worked hard so each generation can have a better life.

what about the millions of american's who don't fall under either catagory , ' rich' or 'poor' 250,00 and above ( which my friends , family DH and I fall under ) and the millons upon millions who are middle class who are affected by what is happening in this economy, in this country. I cannot just look at what will benefit ME and say scr*w the rest of society . I guess its the social worker in me who has been blessed with an upperclass upbringing, but has seen poverty and it is a cycle many cannot get out of for several different reasons and we should all be lucky that we don't have to walk a mile in their shoes .

i agree with you, but i also see a bit of what she is saying. Both are right, there are many people in poverty and its other things holding them back. My parents came to this country with $10 in their pockets, and it was a hard road to even get here. When my parents left their country, it was a communist country and for those that don't know, its VERy hard to be able to leave a communisty country, they dont really allow their citizens to leave. My dad really had to fight to get out of there, going every single day to the embassy and waiting outside for HOURS on a line with hundreds of people everyday. The process was long and hard, and then he had to go through a hearing and he pulled some crazy tactics which i wont even talk about lol. Even after that it wasnt easy at all. So i think its great how the US has opportunities for people to come here with nothing and find a way to make things work. There are single mothers who are struggling and work their A** off to put food on the table. There are those who were dealt unfortunate situations and do need need and deserve the help

HOWEVER, we all have to be honest here. There are those who abuse the system. I know people who are on welfare, paying almost nothing for their apartments and then driving expensive cars and dont want to do anything for themselves bc they prefer to be taken care of

so i see both sides and can agree with both. Because the truth is that you have people from both sides. Those who have a hard life, need our help and should get the help they deserve. But there are also people who dont deserve the help. So its on an individual basis

i never knew you were russian, ok i know so off topic hahaha

I like off topic especially with this subject ! I am Russian , but eveyone who meets me thinks I am Irish , they tell me I don't look Jewish , like that isn't the most offensive comment ever ..... W T F is looking Jewish ???? Its a religion not a race , that has many colors . OK rant over

so true but i guess some just think Jewish people are supposed to look a certain way meanwhile theres jewish people of so many nationalities which i think people forget haha

Just like the government didnt put regulations on mortgages and people took advantage, they need to put WAY more regulations on welfare. THAT I agree with. I was raised in a single parent household and my mother refused to go on welfare. So there are good people out there.

Im voting for Obama. I just dont think mccain has made a big enough effort to bring Obama down. And I just think that he should have picked someone else for the VP ticket, not Palin. Im al for a lady VP, dont get me wrong, but she was not the best choice. This is not meant to offend n e 1, its just IMO

'I just dont think mccain has made a big enough effort to bring Obama down' Is not a reason to vote for Obama! JMO

I was kinda thinking the same thing...

but i dont think its selfish to worry about the welfare of my family first! Why should i have to put other people before them? My father came here with NOTHING! his parents sold their cows and livestock LITERALLY to be able to come here and set up in a small apartment and went to work for their dreams. the saved every penny to get the things they wanted. Where has that pride gone today? People dont do that any more! People cant afford their rent..but the rims on their car cost $5000... Where have our values gone? Why should i have to pay the debts of the less careful...the carefree prehaps. My grandmother would have loved more kids...but she could afford them so she stopped at two....seems reasonable. I see on these boards how so many of us want kids now...want a house now...BUT we are smart...we say...rent now....save money....have kids when we can afford to give them what we deserve....why shouldnt we expect our nation to live like that?

thats what i think should be done too. I am not against welfare but i think it shouldn't just be given to just about anybody who wants it. There should be more regulations. I am not sure but isnt it that now you can only be on it for 2 years?

This goes with what i said above. There are those who truly need the help and should get the help. Then there are those who abuse the system. You cant say to deny everybody or give it to just anybody. It has to be on an individual basis to determine who should get it and who should not.

It is the governments responsibility to make sure this type of fraud does not happen . The welfare system, along with the foster care system needs some serious re-vamping and regulations.

There are people who abuse EVERY system. for example, all the CEO's and companies that scammed the morgage crisis and the sh!t hit the fan and we will bail them out so they can stay rich but F the children who didn't ask to be born who live in shelters , or the women who are domestic violence victims and have children and ask the government for help , or the family who's home just went into forclosure.

ok, im off the soap box

YES!!!! the foster care system seriously needs to fix things up. Even just the other day, i watch this show called 'lock up' it shows different prisons around the country and films them. This time they showed a juvenile jail. There was one kid i did not think belonged in there. He had mental issues and needed that to be taken care of. It was obvious and also he didnt harm others or was a threat in jail. All the nurses and other people in the jail all said how he was the sweetest boy, the problem was that he was constantly hurting himself. He would go nuts all of a sudden and take it out on himself by cutting himself and many other things. He was abused by his dad and his dad is in jail for trying to kill him. Since he was a boy he has been in the foster care system and they just moved him from one home to another bc nobody wanted him. He has been on his own. The saddest part is at the end of the show, he did his time and was released but he didnt go and they didnt let him leave bc he had NOWHERE to go, they were trying to find something for him. Now the others all needed to do their time. But putting a kid with all the conditions he had in jail wasnt the way it should be done, its going to make it worse. There are mental health hospitals that will keep those in jail, and give them the treatment they need. I was crying watching the show

ITA I was having this conversation with the GOP delegates from my job (they all might as well be) and I was explaining to them that there just has to be more research on the current welfare/medicaid process. Give help to those that need it not those that abuse it. Evaluate them every 2 years and see what they have done to improve their situation. I want to see more families having the opportunity to send their children to Ivy Leagues and not worry about money. How many of us owe huge amounts in student loans bc our families couldnt afford to shell out 20K a year for college tuition. Change has to come into this country. Unfortunately until we get out of the ME mentality and start thinking about ALL change will not occur.

I think some people look at a few of the negative cases and dont realize there are many many positive cases out there. Seriously, yea were getting taxed to help people, and who are we talking about mostly minorities right?? So what category do the AIG people fall under, the ones were being taxed to help because they abused the system? Wait they were rich werent they?? Unfortunately, I feel like different situations means different things to different people. Like if my money is going to immigrants or minorities who come here and dont work Im pissed, but bailing out a huge corporation with my money is okay.

Crap I know I am going to start controversy now but fugg it I will say it.
AIG is the perfect example: After they were bailed out they went on a company outing to spend 433K!!! But because they are rich it was an 'abuse to the system' if they were poor 'they are thiefs'. My tax money which is helping the company who's executives were getting 20 Million in Bonuses bc they 'abused the system' thats B.S. why cant they pay that money back? But offer help to the poor and middle class-- God forbid

I think some people look at a few of the negative cases and dont realize there are many many positive cases out there. Seriously, yea were getting taxed to help people, and who are we talking about mostly minorities right?? So what category do the AIG people fall under, the ones were being taces to help because they abused the system?

Its insane how people choose to see what they want to see. Another argument I have is the 'socialism' crap. You see all these people calling Obama a socialist at the McCain rallies (Among other hateful and ridiculous things) but they dont sit back and think 'HMMMM what did the government just do to bail out this huge corporation, oh they made a socialist move and took command of our money!) No because like Ive said a million and one times, socialism is not okay when its helping the little guy. Just the way the world works. Hypocritical in every way.

BTW,I just saw a video of what these people say at the McCain rallies and this one guy said women should pay DOUBLE for rape kits. Its insane.

Re: NWR: Who Will You Vote For?

Here are some websites that give you facts about each candidate. Im assuming most of you like to research them before deciding and I know it is hard to find solid facts! So frustrating!

compare This site also lists people that are nolonger running obv. But it is still helpful.

And this site is the best I have found so far for getting info.

On the Issues

Hope this helps some of you!!
