Re: Official Floral Terrace Thread!

I don't know if this sounds cheesey but I am really into how it was a movie theatre and the history.

I think I want to insert a whole '1940's, NYC, Broadway' Glamour into my wedding.

Thinking of menu cards that look like old playbills, place seatings that resemble either the martha stewart seats or a old movie projector (FH's idea), lush flowers reminicent of that era, and the girls in long flowing satin dresses.

Anyone else thinking of inserting any of that old time stuff? If not, got any ideas for me?

TIA...

PS. Here is a pic that I would love to do - it would look great with the three layers of candles I think...

Re: Official Floral Terrace Thread!

this is the dress I am thinking of - in that color - very '40's' with the slinky feeling...

ps my bridesmaids are all skinny b*tches and would look awesome in them.

Re: Official Floral Terrace Thread!

I think that is a great idea to insert a movie theme into the wedding...I am not planning on doing anything to that extent...FH would not be to keen on it! He is very old fashion when it comes to a wedding....I think the playbill menu is a great idea! People would really see that as a 'different' theme!

I love the dresses that you picked...Color would be very beautiful for March! The picture you posted is definately possible & would look great in that room!

has anyone decided what type of centerpieces to have?? I am considering low ones because of my budget...Do you think they would look good in the ballroom?

Re: Official Floral Terrace Thread!

hey kissy!

i was there with low centerpieces and i thought they were nice.

i would suggest, tho, having ones with color.

very funny but the last time we were there, people used wine holders and wine as their centerpieces...very different...i'll post a pic if i can find it.

are you still goin to the showcase? i think FI will be attending!

Re: Official Floral Terrace Thread!

HI Kristen, thanks for asking! Things are going good.

I book the DJ and tonight we are checking out the photographer/ video (Sherwood). But after reading all the reviews on Duet I want to look into them also.

I went to try on dresses for the first time Right before Christmas..O M G it was so fun but very stressful...LOL I loved everything! I went to Liletts (sp) in Baldwin they were very nice people. How is your planning going?

Happy New Year to all!

Denise

Re: Official Floral Terrace Thread!

Hi Denise,

We are doing pretty well with the planning..we booked ADA Studios for photo/video back in November...We are going to a band/dj showcase at the Marriott in Uniondale on the 9th so that FH can decide what he wants to do...He wants a band & I want a DJ...I have to meet with the florist(Pedestals) to sign the contract

i ordered my dress in November along with the girls dresses...I had so much fun trying on dresses! It was stressful though & I ended up back with the 2nd dress I tried on. I got mine at Bridal Garden in Bethpage! They are really warm & helpful people!

Have a wonderful New Year! Any plans???

Kristen

Re: Official Floral Terrace Thread!

K-

Sorry my replys take so long..I am at work and i have to keep hiding my screen.... Because if they only knew how much I am on weddings sites my butt would be out the door!

Anyway, I would have loved a band but we just could not fit it in the budget ya know. We booked Spin Around Sound. I really liked them and 2 of my friends used them and they had everyone dancing all night!

Are you using any vendors from the FT?

Where is your Florist?

This is one of my top three dress picks.

No plans for New Years my FH is a Police Officer so he will be in the city with all the nuts!

If you write back I may not be able to answer right away...

Re: Official Floral Terrace Thread!

Denise-

Don't worry about not answering quickly..I am in the same boat...I am at work & it is crazy trying to get everything done bc it is our last day before the weekend!

I know that once we look at bands, my FH will realize it is too much $$ & that we could use that $$ for furniture!!! I have a DJ that did my brother's wedding & he was amazing!

I am using Pedestal's in Mineola...Ask for Robert...He is great plus he is my cousin Supposedly they just became a house vendor...Other then them, we are not using any house vendors.

ADA studios did my FBIL wedding & the pictures & video were amazing...I could not pass it up!

Where is your FH a cop? My ex is one too in Manhattan...I don't think we are doing very much this New Years either...FBIL just found out they are expecting, so it might be a quiet one with them!

Re: Official Floral Terrace Thread!

Hey Girls!

At least you can get on at work - I can't! I need to change jobs!!!

Anyways, I still haven't gotten anything yet but Marianne did tell me it would be like 7ish on the 24th.

I hope to meet/see you there.

I have to get on the ball and start posting some pics of floral for this thread since I wanted to keep it for the future!

Kissy-great to know you have a contact at Pedestals...I have heard great things about them! They WERE on my new vendor list from Marianne.

I have not done anything else for the wedding - at all. When do you HAVE to get a dress? I think I might start looking in the springtime.

What about other vendors? Can I wait until February?

Kissy - i wish there were somethings that we could share since we are SOOOO close in time - like something that you usually buy and never use and we could split the cost.... i'll be thinking about that!

Happy New Year - FI is a cop in Jersey so I am going to my friend's house. I blew up a picture of him to put next to me in all our shots! I included quotes that he says to me all the time...hilarious!

Wow, leese you really did a lot of photographing when you went there! I didn't even think to bring the camera with me!

I still haven't heard anything about the showcase & have been looking on the website & nothing is there! Maybe with the holidays & all, it might be delayed in the mail!

Re: Official Floral Terrace Thread!

leese, you asked about the dress...I ordered mine in November but that was bc I found something that I absolutely loved...I thought I was going to have a hard time finding something, bc I am usually particular about those things...It just so happens that i found my dress pretty early on & just decided to order...It will in right around the 1 year mark! You can definately wait til spring though!

on the other vendors, I would book photo/video as soon as possible especially if you have someone in mind...The popular photographer's usually book fast. I booked ADA back in November & I know they were pretty booked for 2006 already & had some 2007 dates booked....

Florist, I don't think it is a necessity to get done so early on but again, if there is someone in particular you want & have an idea of what you want for the day, I think it is alright to book that too!

My philosophy on the vendors was, the more I do in 2004-2005 early on, the less stress of searching & determining the right vendor later on...I want to be completely booked with everything by the 1 year mark so I can enjoy that year before getting married & concentrate more on the house hunting!

I really can't wait to meet you at the showcase...You said, FH might be coming?? I know mine will not be there bc he works late on Monday & Tuesday nights!
