Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??

oh yeah - 'why are you getting married so close to the 4th of July? You should move it' (thanks Grandpa!)

Also alot of 'I guess you guys like it hot - it is going to be a sauna' (yes I do, hence why I am having a day wedding in July!)

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??

1. Why are you waiting so long?

2. Why are you having such a big wedding?

3. Why March? A winter wedding?

Not rude questions, just the TONE I didn't like.

And my answers:

1. Cause I need time to save $$ and plan. If I could have gotten married in 6 months after being engaged without stressing myself out, I would have done it!

2. Um, you don't have to come if you don't want to....that will keep the guest list down.

3. Because we saved $60+ per head by having it in March and we're still haveing a Saturday night wedding!

GEEZ!

I have always since I was little dreamed of a winter wedding. That is what I wanted. Plus, I cannot handle heat. I am miserible once it gets over 70 degress. Yes, I'm a freak like that. I would be one cranky bride. I was a bridesmaid in a July wedding, and trust me, I was not pleasant to deal with Also, I'm having my wedding at DeSeversky and I went there on Friday to celebrate our one year mark and the mansion was decorated absolutely beautiful...not much for me to do at all. Perfect. Going to save me alot of money on flowers.

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??

I can't think of any yet for my own wedding. My brother got married recently though and his FMIL (now MIL) said 'You are getting your eyebrows done for their wedding right?' I started getting my eyebrows done because she made me feel like I had to. She's one to talk!!!

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??

'Oh, you're getting married in November because it's cheaper.'

And I always say, 'if you think it's cheaper, you can pay the bill.'

We only got a slight discount from ONE vendor and I have to listen to people assuming that I must be doing it cheaply.

And people assumed that we got some great discount for a November honeymoon--um, not exactly on THanksgiving week!!!!!

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??

I think the worst comments I've gotten are:

'OMG You're getting married on a Friday night!!'

or

'Is this your first marriage?' even better is 'Is this his first marriage?'

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??

My mother actually said early on

'It's not like I am blackmailing you, but if we are paying for some of the wedding, we should have some decision making abilities'

I couldnt beleive my mother actually used the word 'BLACKMAIL' to describe an aspect of my wedding. ARGGGGGGG!!!!!!!

ps- i told her not to bother giving me a penny if that was the case.

I have to invade on this post to answer it!

I was talking to a co-worker telling her that DH didnt like my choice in color for BM dresses. So I said to her 'I have a swatch, here it is' and she looks at it and goes 'Oh, I could see why he doesnt like it'

I wanted to smash her!

Why do people think they have a right to give their RUDE OPINIONS???

Its ok though... my comment back to her was.. 'where did you get married??'.... 'oh right.. you didnt have a wedding....... oh but your 'married' ...

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??

This thread is GREAT!! On Thanksgiving, I actually got in an argument with a friend of my parent's who was like 'Why would you get married in November? Its so cold besides it gets dark early. Why would you do that? Everyone will be freezing...' I wanted to smack the b*tch up FH had this 'frozen smile' type of thing going on as I proceeded to argue back, hehe

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??

All the rude comments come from his side.

At first his aunt told me (in April '05) not to have it in May '06 because of her son's bar mitzvah and 3 other bar mitzvahs she COULD not miss! When she found out it's in Smithtown she was like.. 'Why do you have to have it ALL the way out there?'

His father told me that it was a 'mistake' to not have a band..but it's funny since it's the ONLY thing he's paying for and I made it cheaper for him. That's probably why we didn't feel bad adding a Jazz Trio during cocktail hour.

Then he went on and on that it's MY day..yada yada.

10 minutes later he said a 11am start is too early and that I should keep the guests in mind. I'm 'not the only one who is going to be there.' Well, I bit my tongue because if the time was different, the price would be too..and he made it clear he's not helping to pay.

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??

my ring size is a 4, but my FH got 4 and 1/4, so I had to get it fitted. One of my coworkers was like , 'OH MY GOD he doesn't even know your ring size'???!!! I was so annoyed with her! She made me feel bad even though it was so ridiculous because the jeweler is the one who measured me in the first place.

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??

I have THREE:

1. Person/co-worker: Where are you getting married?
Me: The Swan Club.
Person with an attitude: Is that in Long Island???
Me: Yes
Person: Oh.

Sorry if I didn't take into consideration the fact that my co-workers work and live in brooklyn. I didn't know that my life had to revolve around making things convenient for people who don't do ish for me. If you really care about someone then you make the effort to show up if not, oh well.

2. Another person was like, 'Your inviting my son aren't you.' A family member was like, 'Yeah you have to invite her 10 year old son. She is liable to tell you that she'll pay for his plate.' I was like it's not about the money, I just don't want any kids other than the ones in the bp at the wedding.

3. Someone, told me that the they had been to the Swan Club and were considering it until they saw their place and basically it was no match. The person said this knowing where I was getting married at.
