Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??
The post I put out a while back about me crying when a woman told me' I thought brides were supposed to be very thin!'
Oh - and the comments about people asking if they stil have to dress up since its an afternoon wedding, or whenever I mentioned something being fancy - they would say - you dont have to do that- its an afternoon wedding!
i would tell them - its still my wedding, and its still important no matter what time of day it is!!!!

From DH's drug addict, gross uncleDH: 'The wedding is on Long Island'
Uncle: 'You should get a bus from Brooklyn or no one will come'
We thought about telling that there was a bus and his an his HO wife should just wait on their corner....but no, they came.
Not to mention, we had people coming from other countries who didn't say anything like that! But from Brooklyn, they complain!!

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??
I had someone ask me if I got my birthstone (Peridot - green - favorite color - anyone who knows ME knows why I picked it) because we couldn't afford a diamond. When I said no, I actually had it custom made for my taste and personality, they asked how much it cost.
That was the worst I heard. Besides our families asking us at every turn if we were nervous or having second thoughts.

I had another bride asked me where we were getting married...When I told her Glen Island, she rolled her eyes and said 'We looked there, but ughhhh, didn't like it'

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??
I've had a couple.Co-worker: So when is your shower?
Me: September 9th
Co-worker: Where is it?
Me: Smithtown
Co-worker: Well that is my daughter's birthday weekend so I'm not certain I'll be able to make it. It's also kind of far for me.
Me: Do you think I should ask them to move the date and place?
Co-worker: *pause* You'd really do that?
Me: No. (D'uh!)
Also I've had someone tell me that Disney is a stupid place to HM because only children go there. Really? I could have sworn I've seen plenty of adults there as well.

Oh my mom gave me a great one 'why are you wasting your time and money on something so stupid. Just go to vegas, I don't want to bothered with all this!' Needless to say we don't talk too much.

Well by you offering to change the date was very thoughtfut. NOT everyone would be willing to do that. So I can understand why she wasn't sure.
But Disney land is a great place! I only went once, BUT I really would love to go back. My FH has been there a bunch of times when he was a kid and doesn't see the point of going back. But I know I would love it!!

My co-manager sits behind me and he choked when he heard the conversation. Obviously she's not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I've been to Disneyland in CA but never to DisneyWorld in FL. That's where we're doing and I cannot WAIT!

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??
Lets see where do I begin?1- When I was starting to look for photographers, I checked one out in my neighborhood. As we were talking, I told the woman that my FH was in the military and if he has to be deployed, can we reschedule without any penalty written into our contract. She refused to do it, then she had the balls to ask me if it was such a smart idea to set a wedding date??? Well when the hell am I supposed to get married, Jackass????????? Oh well she lost business from me, because I absolutely love my photographer.
2- My MOH asked me if my BM were planning a bachlorette party and I said I have no idea. Not even knowing if there was one or not or even a date, she tells me that she can't go because she can't leave her DH alone with 3 kids.
3- FMIL has been on my case about FH and I going to Disney for our HM. She's like its not romantic, you should go to an island or go to Europe. I explained to her that FH does not want to fly long because he doesn't like flying and not to mention when he comes home from Iraq, it will take him 3 days to come home. I also told her that I didn't want to go to an island because its still hurricane season and I didn't want to be stuck on some strange island. A friend of mine went to Mexico after she got engaged and was stuck there during Hurricane Wilma. She was in a shelter for days and said that it got really scary there. If Florida got it by a hurricane while I'm there at least I know that state will be taken care of. Besides FH and I can't wait to go to Disney.

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??
after I keep saying how excited I am for a hummer limo.. FMIL says 'oh i was hoping you would have changed your mind about that'Of course the normal 'why are you waiting so long' & 'you have so much time' (people have no clue)
When talking about my gown (before i ordered one).. FMIL says 'I don't think you will be able to top your sister's gown' and 'oh god.. you don't like beading do you?' ..'You will look like a chandelier walking down the aisle' (I was sooo annoyed with these comments)
When looking at a DJ--when all I simply asked was about ONE group dance only because my mom enjoys them..he responds 'um...why would you do that... I think that is REALLY CHEESY' --needless to say we DID NOT book them.
I have also had just maybe 1 or 2 comments about a Friday night wedding and how people will be 'pissed off' about it.... ummm... no i don't think so... PLEASE!
I'm sure there will be many more to come......

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??
People are so rude. This is why I liking saying less about my wedding and move the conversation elsewhere. No matter what people have their opinion and it likely will not coincide with your own.I hate it when people ask the cost of things This year numerous people have asked me the cost of
MY RING
MY DRESS
Per plate cost
Our house
Our furniture
our honeymoon
I would NEVER ask
BTW: I hate it when people say 'You'll see, one day , you'll understand when you are married, have kids have to do ALL the housework' etc'

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??
when i first booked JT, my brothers girlfriend looked it up online and goes, ' that looks like a place where the bride like,,wants all eyes on her,,heh.then went we went to the JT bridalshowcase my materialistic mother was too busy checking out the couches that she wanted for her new room in the extension, and then told me that she didnt like the walls in the dome room!! *** She didnt make one comment about the place,, meanwhile my FMIL called me the next morning telling me how she couldnt sleep bc the place is soo beatiful and shes soo excited and cant wait!
about 2 years ago,,when I told my mother that FH and I were looking for rings,,she goes,,Oh no ,,he's too short and I dont want short grandchildren. (im 5'7 and he's 5'6)! Meanwhile weve been together since we were 13! She is rediculous!
