Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??
My one co-worker tells me on an almost daily basis how I should just elope and get a simple silver band as my wedding ring and save all the money we're spending.....um, how about no! If I wanted to elope and I wanted to get a simple ring, that is what I would have done! But I want to have a 'big' wedding, and I want a pretty sparkly wedding ring. Not that she should be giving me advice becuse she is always saaaing how annoying her husband is and how much she can't stand him!!

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??
I have two favorites that will forever stand out in my mind:1. Just got engaged, co-worker says to me 'congratulations, beautiful ring but you know a good cubic can fool anyone'
Can you believe someone had the nerve to say something like this? Sorry there you bitter nasty woman, it's real.2. Called a photographer..conversation goes like this:
Photographer: what time is the ceremony
Me: 11:00am
Photographer: oh, an early daytime wedding
Photographer: where's the reception
Me: i tell her the place
Photographer: oh so you're not having a REAL wedding
Me: Okay, conversation over
Mind you, this person came very highly recommended. People make me sick

my mom told me she thought my 1940s caddy was stupid!
I flipped on her!
I was like did I ask u what u thought
she asked me 'did u book the limos?'
I said 'yes'
she asked 'o what did you get'
I replied 'a 1940s caddy and an escalade'
BTW I LOVE caddies!
she was like 'that is stupid, why not a rolls?'
UGH!
I was like well good thing you arent paying for it!
That's funny. My FMIL had the same reaction to FH's choosing the caddy. She was really rude and then caught herself in the moment and was like, oh, pick whatever you like. I was like, yeah, we intend to, thanks.

Some older guy that works in my building was standing outside smoking and as I was walking in, we said hello and he heard about me getting maried. He asks me when I tell him it's the Saturday after Thanksgiving and he replies 'OH that's risky, isn't it?' I felt like slapping him bu tmy response was 'No, it's not actually'.

i walked into work today and after having a week off with FH (who he (my boss) calls my FH by the wrong name), my boss said to me 'so is the wedding still on?' i guess he thought since i picked up FH from the airport after his long flight from Australia that i would change my mind about getting married.i said no, why would i not get married? he said 'you know sometimes things happen and you want to call it off'.

I've had a couple.
Co-worker: So when is your shower?
Me: September 9th
Co-worker: Where is it?
Me: Smithtown
Co-worker: Well that is my daughter's birthday weekend so I'm not certain I'll be able to make it. It's also kind of far for me.
Me: Do you think I should ask them to move the date and place?
Co-worker: *pause* You'd really do that?
Me: No. (D'uh!)
Also I've had someone tell me that Disney is a stupid place to HM because only children go there. Really? I could have sworn I've seen plenty of adults there as well.![]()
Well by you offering to change the date was very thoughtfut. NOT everyone would be willing to do that. So I can understand why she wasn't sure.
But Disney land is a great place! I only went once, BUT I really would love to go back. My FH has been there a bunch of times when he was a kid and doesn't see the point of going back. But I know I would love it!!
My co-manager sits behind me and he choked when he heard the conversation. Obviously she's not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I've been to Disneyland in CA but never to DisneyWorld in FL. That's where we're doing and I cannot WAIT!![]()
I love Disney World and you will have a great time - esp since the time of year you're going, kids are in school for the most part and the lines are going to be short. I went once in October - it was incredible! Are you staying in Disney?

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??
this thread is great. people are so rude!so far the only super rude thing said to me was when some people saw my ring:
idiots: 'WOW thats some rock! what does your FH do?'
Me: 'he's a teacher'
idiots: 'well how did he afford THAT then???'
Me: 'he robbed a bank. I told him i wanted a big rock or I wouldnt marry him
'I just prove that people will say stuff to you know matter what - big ring, little ring, not a diamond, etc.

Oh I recieved hell the last month of my wedding! I almost B*tch slapped my DH BM. After knowing we are getting married and being reminded of the date over and over and that its on a Friday, he waits for the last min to flip out on me that its a friday wedding! Needless to say I understand why brides become Bridezillas!

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??
I heard from someone that my catering hall is not good (and he has said that more than once). He does not have anything terrible to say about the hall except that he just does not like the way the hall looks inside. So I just keep telling him that everyone likes different things and not everyone is going to love the hall the way FH & I do.

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??
From My MIL: 'Well in MY country we don't have weddings at 9:30' after we had the wedding in a greek church to please her and had to take what time we could get since we planned a summer wedding in <10 months to make it easier for her family to travel here from greeceMIL (and her friends): Whispering in Greek talking about the distance from the church to the reception hall right in front of my mom (with enough english words that we could totally understand what they were saying) 'It's so far, how will anyone find it...gasp/head shake' Um, (a)they'll follow the direction cards (b)you're not paying so SHUT UP and (c)it's not any less rude just cause it's in a different language!!!!!

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??
My MOH said to me 'You realize that by getting married on a Sunday, you are making it hard for everyone to be there'Also, I had a lot of OOT guests (including me!) who were traveling to NY for the wedding. My MOH complained 'I am not going to have time to go site seeing because you have too many things planned for the weekend of the wedding'.
She had NUMEROUS rude comments. That is probably why I haven't spoken to her since my wedding.
