Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??

I'm 34 and a perfect stranger told me I was going to regret waiting so long to get married!!!

I told her I'm glad I waited. I would rather have waited and made sure that married the right man than rushed into marriage, just because people think you should be married by 30, and have made a terrible mistake.

my ring size is a 4, but my FH got 4 and 1/4, so I had to get it fitted. One of my coworkers was like , 'OH MY GOD he doesn't even know your ring size'???!!! I was so annoyed with her! She made me feel bad even though it was so ridiculous because the jeweler is the one who measured me in the first place.

My cousin who was engaged first and is getting married a few months before me said to my SISTER, 'I'm the reason that your sister got engaged anyway and I was the last person to see the ring' Can you imagine??!!!

That person who made the ring size comment has to be totally stupid. I did not even know my OWN ring size before!

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??

Wow!!! These are just unbelievable!!!!

I have a few....

1- Mom-Why do you have to do everything opposite of your sister??? Oh, my younger sister got married before me, and used alot of my ideas

2- my parents- Why are you getting married on a Thursday for????
Oh, did I mention they are retired... And we're paying for the wedding...

3- Why don't you just wear your sister's dress, tiara, etc.....

4- Someone from work which won't be invited- 'So, who will I be dancing with at your wedding???
I was like.. What !!!!

5- FSIL's friend- I told her at turkey day that i hope to see her soon b/c we only see each other at holidays... She responded' Well if anything I'll see you at the wedding.' I asked, Oh yeah.. Whose wedding??? She said,' Yours silly!!!!'.. I didn't know she was going to be invited...

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??

My FMIL : 'I want you to know now, I'm not buying you any China. I think it's stupid and a waste of money! And I'm not buying you anything off your registry either. I don't believe in registries!!!'

When did I ask you for a gift?

'Is this your first marriage?'

These are strangers asking me this!! Numerous times!

I'm the first girl in my family to actually graduate from college and not be married with kids by 20. (Not that there is anything wrong with that, it's just not for me.)

That's sooo funny. Someone at work just asked me that yesterday. Geeze, I'm not that friggin old

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??

I've been lucky so far. People haven't been TOO rude.

I did have one friend say 'Don't register at Fortunoff's. Everything's too expensive!'

Oh and supposedly people that work with my mom told her, 'She (meaning me) can't have that color bridesmaids dresses [dark blue] for a morning wedding.'

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??

I've gotten everything from 'He took long enough to propose, at this point, just book SOMETHING! Who cares where?' btw......I've only been w/my FH for < 3 & a half years. And I'm only 28 yrs old. I don't think that's so ridiculously long.

Then there's 'oh no...You're not going to have 7 bridesmaids. Your wedding is gonna look like a zoo!'

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??

When FH said he was considering wearing his police dress uniform for the ceremony, his brother said that he thinks that's rediculous and if he does he will wear sweatpants to our wedding (he was going to be the BM at the time).

ETA: When people ask me when we got engaged and I tell them, they always ask the most inappropriate questions and I wind up having to explain our financial situation to them.

Also, FMIL said she was never planning on buying us a wedding gift (uh, their not helping us w/ the wedding either).

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??

1. My FH's co-worker knew I wanted my wedding at the Swan Club and she told him not to have it there b/c the food is nasty (for lack of better words). I've been there before and didn't think so...

I already had wanted it there b/c I had my prom there and loved it, plus when we went to see it my decision was solidified..when she said that, it completely burst my bubble.

2. My FMIL told me the BM dress colors were ugly and that I shouldn't have them strapless.

Hmm I'm 35 and if I would have married the guy I THOUGHT I was going to marry ten years ago, I'd be divorced with two kids and possibly on public assistance. I am sure she would appreciate feeding my kids!

Same story with me. I was going to marry my college sweatheart. I would definitely be divorced by now.

I thought this was a fun repost - and it will make us all feel better about the insensitive comments we've all gotten!

I had someone give me her spring break schedule when i announced my engagement so i could plan my wedding when she was off.

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??

FFIL brought up the bachelor party and asked if I was worried about FH with strippers. I said no and he proceeds to say 'You might be able to trust him normally, but he will be really drunk and have no control of what he does'

Who says that?

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??

I told someone I had my ring cleaned by the jeweler and this was her response: 'I noticed it looked different. The diamond looks a lot bigger now because when I first saw it, it looked kinda small'

How can people be so rude? I wanna see what kind of ring her FH gives her when and if he ever proposes!
