funny enough, for me, the only rude comments were the non-existent comments, meaning someone who I thought was nice ended up not having one nice thing to say about my wedding (obviously jealous). She even attended my wedding and did not take one picture of me or anything to do with my wedding. She took all pics of herself. You wouldn't even know that they took place at my wedding.

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??
My stepfather's stepmother (LOTS of divorice in my family) was rude to me during the actual reception of the wedding, but thank God I was floating on Cloud 9 because NOTHING BOTHERED ME.First, as DH and I were walking from the cocktail hour down towards the bay to take our last prof pix together, we were just elated and couldn't contain our happiness. My stepdad's stepmom (I'll call her Stella) came up to us from across the parking lot to tell me, 'It's a shame you've let your dress get so dirty. You should take better care of your things.' I said, 'Hi, it's nice to see you, so glad you came.' Her next words, 'It's a shame you've let your dress get so dirty. Why are you so lazy to not pick up the train?'....I kept walking.
Later that night, at the reception I almost asked her to leave:
I had gone through a tough time for first year I got out of school (depression, lost my job, sleeping pills, anxiety pills, lots of therpay ---- bad bad time in my life) and I know it was a hard time for my entire family as well. So this horrible Stella comes up to me at the reception, 'My husband and I are so happy for you. There were so many times we cried for your situation and we prayed for your soul. It's nice for us to see when our prayers have paid off. We were really worried this day wouldn't come after all the stuff you did.'
***?? I've heard her say these things to me before, but I swear I felt like I was watching a segment from a Lifetime network movie? ***? I politely thanked her for the prayers and walked away - and I don't plan on inviting her to any other functions.

MY DH's bosses wife said to me 'wedding are so stupid and such a waste of money'I later found out that they didn't have a wedding b/c they couldn't afford it at the time.

this thread is great. people are so rude!
so far the only super rude thing said to me was when some people saw my ring:
idiots: 'WOW thats some rock! what does your FH do?'
Me: 'he's a teacher'
idiots: 'well how did he afford THAT then???'
Me: 'he robbed a bank. I told him i wanted a big rock or I wouldnt marry him![]()
![]()
'
I just prove that people will say stuff to you know matter what - big ring, little ring, not a diamond, etc.
The above happens to me all the time or something close to it like....'wow does he come from money??' or my favorite.....'is that real because i know QVC has gorgeous Diamonique's' >>>>>>>>>>>>>>LOLOL
people are insane, my response to all of the above is always YES and people look at me like im crazy...........they can't bear to think if someone works hard and saves they can do anything they want.....and if thats buy their Fiance a big ring who cares, let him!!!!!!!!!!! it certainly was Not like i demanded it, he did it all on his own! :)

When I went on a job interview, the girl interviewing me mentioned my engagement ring and asked me when the big day was. When I told her June 2008 she asked me 'why are you waiting so long?!?'This was someone INTERVIEWING me!! I don't even KNOW you!!!!!
Side note: I didn't get the job....I think it was for the best.

I love when people say...'Why are you wasting your money on a wedding...you could use the money to buy a house.'

Re: What is the rudest thing someone has said to you as you have been planning your wedding??
The best for me was when someone (who I knew has no manners and not tactful at all) asked me what my wedding song was (first dance). I told him 'Now and Forever' by Richard Marx.He commented 'that's a dumb@$$ song. Why would you pick something like that? it's so cheesy...yech.'
I started remarking on his wedding song, but I refrained from further comment, b/c I am good friends with his wife. We were casually standing around a kitchen with a group of friends, and everyone saw how LIVID I was.

So far the funniest response to telling people we were engaged was 'Oh, I remember my first marriage....'Welcome New Vendors
