okay i have another stupid situation :(FH and his family want to make their baraat entrance together since they will be coming in with a whole bunch of people. I will be gettting to RH with my family like an hour early for pictures with family and of myself. my concern is, when the hell will i be able to take pics with FH???
photographer said not to worry and that he would whisk us away when dinner is being served and take our shots. it doesnt sound bad to me. i wanted to know all ur valued opinions! hehe

Hey girls..I have more questions!
Who is everyone using for their DJ? My fiance wants to use DJ Kucha cus hes in our budget and he does some special things like write our name with lights on the ceiling and confetti and things like that. but peopel are complaining that he plays the same music over and over. Who are you going with. My budget is 900!!!
Also, centerpieces. My budget is 1000 for 45 tables. Thats only 22 a table. I dont want to do floating candles or anything like that. any ideas?

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
dulhan.. we're doing pics before the wedding and then during cocktail as well..soni.. we're using kucha and i've been to weddings where he's great and kept the crowd going.. also depends on what you ask a dj to play, some people want to stick with specific a genre... but either way whoever you pick.. will ask you for a list of songs you like.. g'luck

hi ladies,
Sorry i been MIA but i moved to cali after the honeymoon and i am living with the inlaw's. Things been a bit crazy but so far so good. I am living out of boxes. My wedding was amazing and I had a blast in Cancun for the honeymoon. I am trying to get photos from family and friends so i can post them. My professional proofs arent ready yet.
I saw a few previous post and totally recommend you girls gettting facials. Check out spaweek.org they are running a promotion right now for facials, massages, etc for only $50.00. This is so worth it. I gone a few times to red door spa on fifth avenue and the one in long island. They are pretty good.
Girls, good luck with all your planning and trust me dont stress over the details.
I will try to post some pics soon.
How is it in Cali? Are you homesick yet? NY misses you
yeah, at times i get homesick. I miss my room and my house. I miss my car and friends too. Sometimes i cry but at times i tell myself change is good. I think once i get a job i will feel a bit better and hopefully in two month we will get our own place.

at my cousin's wedding they did a huge open rose in a fish bowl. The rose was sitting in like gel or something icy. It looked elegant and seems sort of cheap.

GT...welcome back and congratulations!!Dulhan: We're actually missing our whole cocktail hour because we'll be taking pictures (first with family at the church right after the reception, then quickly with the bridal party at rh, and then me and fh)
SONI: Do you only need centerpieces? No bridal/bm's bouquets, bouts, etc? Try pedestals.....we're getting 50 low centerpieces...roses, with candles around it + bridal + bm bouquets + bouts + corsages + fg's bouquets......for around $3500....I don't remember how much just the cp's are, but they might work with you a bit?

yeahh....thats not going to work in my case.
FH and in laws dont want to come in separate ahead of time. they want to come in as the 'baraat' like a big huge entrance. If it was just FH and immediate family coming, it wouldnt be a problem. But they are coming with like 30 people. so what are those 30 people supposed to do while we take pics?? u know what i mean?? it will just have to be during dinner. I'll be there early with my family so i'll get as many pics of myself as i want

You'll def. feel better when you get your own place and start living on your own. In the mean time.....go shopping, get a mani/pedi treat yourself and spend your hubbies $$ hehe.
I'm trying to mentally prepare myself to leave as well - it's almost a year away and I'm so scared - can't image what i'll do

Hey guysI was wondering if any of you are wearing red lipstick on your wedding. I did a make up trial on friday and first I was thinking no red but i didnt look like a brde at all. Once she put the red I looked more like a bride but not meself. I was just wondering what others were doing. And what kind of lipstick/lipgloss you guys were using.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
soni.. most of the time when you are all dressed up on the big day, the red would look great.. did you take your dupatta or something with you?? many people change their minds until the last minute.. so no worries..i see you point about looking like a bride.. most traditional desi outfits look spectacular with bright lipstick.. so play around with it..

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
I got my mehndi lady. went to see her designs and i liked them, so thats done.i went to check out cakes at buttercooky. I asked pricing for a cake serving about 125 ppl since i will also be having other desserts as well. She quoted me around 400. Is that good??
im going for my makeup trial tonight at habibs.. She better do an awesome job bc i really didnt look at anyone else since she does makeup really well from pictures i've seen.
i met with my decorator finally!!! we got to discuss ideas and what we are doing. we are meeting up next week at the RH to plan it all out.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Hey Girls,Hope wedding planning is going well.
How many rings are you giving the boy?
I'm confused since there's the engagement ring (the indian style) but what about the wedding band? Is the engagement ring supposed to be the wedding band?
TIA.
