I -1 DJ
-1 MC
-Music for ceremony, CH, reception
(about 6 hours total + they arrive about 2 hrs. before ceremony to set up)
-Computerized Light Show for Grand Entrance and Dancing [basically lots of color lights and shows to coordinate with the music being played]
the price: $2375 (tax included)
how's this sound to you ladies?
For the lighting you are getting, plus 6 hrs and Ceremony, I think the price is good. To me music is so important, and I am paying more with no Ceremony or CH music. I hear Elegancia is really good also. Have you priced other DJs

Re: Paging all Latin Brides
Hi Latin ladies,I'm fairly new to this site and I had no idea that they were so many Latin brides on here. This is wonderful. I am in desperate need of some ideas to incorporate my family heritage into the wedding. My name is Alma and my mom is from El Salvador and my dad is from Chile. My FH is italian. We're trying to incorporate both of our cultures into the wedding. it is going to be quite a challenge.

Hello, I need some help! I am not a Latin Bride but my FH is a Latin Groom. He is Ecuadorian and he wants his Mother/Son Dance to be in Spanish. I speak very little spanish so I am clueless to a song and if I leave it up to him he'll pick a song the night before!
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!!

why don't you ask his mom, maybe she had a favorite song or something.

Bahamas is gorgeous....i loved it when i went as a teenager.we were considering P.R.--but we both have so much family there--we'd feel obligated to visit them and it wouldn't feel like a HM!

I posted this with a poll on the board, but wanted to get some latina opinions.
this is DJ related:
we got a price quote from Elegancia, and i'm loving the company but not happy about the price as it's over the budget we intended to spend. i know you ladies all know how darn hard it is to get a reputable and/or 'high end' latin DJ here in Long Island! so this is what we were quoted:
-1 DJ
-1 MC
-Music for ceremony, CH, reception
(about 6 hours total + they arrive about 2 hrs. before ceremony to set up)
-Computerized Light Show for Grand Entrance and Dancing [basically lots of color lights and shows to coordinate with the music being played]
the price: $2375 (tax included)
how's this sound to you ladies?
Music was our #1 priority! We paid a little more than this for the same coverage plus a percussionist from Diamond Productions. If price is an issue I would speak with Jose and Lucy...I'm sure they could help. But I would not budge on the company...something about an All Latin company with a great reputation pretty much assures your guests will be up and moving!

This is the same reason we are ruling out PR!

Re: Paging all Latin Brides
Actually, I have a question...I'm half Dominican (mom 100%) and the other half American Jewish. My fiance is Italian so we have a bit of a mix. I wanted to respect every side of our family. I was wondering what do Latins traditionally do at weddings? Songs, dances, etc.

i could suggest some things in the ceremony. like the Lasso and 13 Monedas (Arras)
if you go to this site:
Wedding Arras if gives you details and information on the history of the Lasso & Arras
here is something i found on a website:
Latin American
Pre-wedding tradition: A party to celebrate the engagement is common. The couple may be blessed at home by their parents before the wedding.
Wedding attire and jewelry: The Spanish mantilla, or veil, completely covers the face and shoulders. Brides in many Latin-American countries wear a light blue slip beneath their dresses. The flower girls and ring bearer may be dressed as miniature versions of the bride and groom.
Ceremony: Godparents or sponsors of the wedding (padrinos and madrinos) place pillows for the couple to kneel, present the couple with a bible and present coins in a treasure box. A cord, el lazo, is placed around the couple to show that they are bound together for life. The groom gives the bride 13 coins, called 'Arras', as a sign of sharing his wealth with her. In some Latin American cultures only the couple's parents stand with them at the altar.
Reception and food: A money dance is sometimes performed to collect dollars from guests. Special favors, called capias, are displayed on a doll dressed like the bride. The capias have the couple's names and wedding date inscribed on them, and are given as favors to the guests. Food may include chili, soups, tamales, fajitas, paella, cake, flan and sopapillas.
