For you not-yet-married Brides from us Already married Brides: What was the biggest waste of money involved in your wedding?
Just thought I'd voulunteer some advice to help along the planning:Honestly....Having my bridesmaids dye to match shoes..was useless. The dresses were FULL LENGTH and the shoes were only seen when we lifted our dresses a bit for a picture of THE SHOES!
Also, one maid just wore black shoes and nobody saw anyway...this pissed of the ones who spent $60-$70 on shoes that were supposed to match...and were not dyed exactly anyway!
DON'T BOTHER in my opinion...save them some money..and agree on a color that works otherwise. Dye to match is very 'bridesmaidsy' anyway...they will most likely never use them again.

thanks so much for starting this post, Im sure itll come in handy for the rest of us:) ITs funny you should mention the dying of shoes, because I just recently got rid of a pair of shoes that were dyed purple to match the dress I wore and they were only worn once.

Cocktail hour musician ... our CH was outside on the dock at Danford's and I just don't think it was necessary.

I just figure I coul dhave used some 'don't bother' advice when I was planning. If the dress is long...the shoes matter SO little...just my experience.
Cocktail length: I'd say it DOES matter....becasue the shoes will make the outfit.
Our BM dresses were Lazaro, VERY EXPENSIVE..and it was another big $$$ for shoes ...so it would have been helpful to say ' don't worry about shoes, just get what you like that matches'

The isotoner slippers I bought for the reception. We brought them to the reception and I have no idea what happened to them. I never even wore them. Also, I wish I didn't pay for my mom's and my sister's hair. They were over 2 hours late for their appointment.

Ditto on the slippers - mine are at home, still in the box. My shoes were nice and comfy.

I can't think of anything we wasted money on.But since we're giving advice, I guess I'll just say that too many brides-to-be lose sight of the bigger picture. Sure, we all want a beautiful wedding day, but it will not be ruined if your bridesmaids don't wear matching shoes, or your MIL wears a dress you don't like, or your menu font doesn't match your invitation font, or if the roses in your centerpiece are closed even though you specifically told the florist they had to be open, etc etc etc.
None of that really matters when you have just pledged your love to your husband and are surrounded by friends and family who have come from all over the world to spend your day with you.

IMO..If I am paying alot of $$$ for a BM dress,,I might as well splurge the extra bucks on my shoes...you have to complete the look,,having the wrong shoes can ruin the entire look...

I know for me, I wish I hadn't spent so much money on my BMs. Some of them turned out to be a real disappointment.

Thanks so much for the advice so far--please keep it coming! (I happen to agree about the shoes, but I'm an anti-shoes girl in general)

Maybe it depends on the dress - my BMs wore long dresses that never showed their feet, nor are their feet/shoes ever seen in our pictures. I am glad that I didn't ask them to buy a certain type or color shoe, especially since they were already spending enough $$ coming in from OOT.

My aisle runner. It got wrinkled after I walked down the aisle and looks like crap in the pictures. We added a scoop of sherbet to the menu. It was served between the salad and main course. Mom thought it was elegent. I thought it was a huge waste of $$$. They charged us $6 per scoop!!
That's all!

I wish that I hadn't wasted money on the rose petal toss. My hall told me they would make sure my guests got their petal cones, but when I walked back up the ails there were very few petals being thrown. I was kind of pissed since I love how it looks in pictures, yet I don't have a single picture of it.

Re: For you not-yet-married Brides from us Already married Brides: What was the biggest waste of money involved in your wedding?
That's all really good advice. I'm going toi ahve really dark red gowns, hopefully, so maybe the girls cna get away with silver shoes..at least they can wear those again! Also, the rose petals..i think that's hit or miss. My sister has a FABULOUS picture of everyone on the church steps, with she and her DH in front, tey're kissing and we're all throwing rose petals..it's GORGEOUS>
but we just got a plain white basket, covered it in tulle, and had people grab a handful of petals..
