Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

How are the cakes they provide you with? I wasnt planning on going with another supplier due to budget issues, but I'm afraid it wont be good enough. Past brides- can you post a picture of your cakes?

Also, a few questions....

How do they taste?

Are they really plain looking without flowers/decoration?

Who would be in charge of decorating the cake if I requested a cascading row of flowers?

To be honest - i have no recollection of what the cake tasted like. I think it was good - but i don't remember getting more than half a bite of it...just because of time...

They can be whatever you want them to be - fancy, plain, etc....

No idea who would be 'in charge' of flowers...my guess would be the bakery - but i have no idea...

The only things i didn't like about my cake was the stars - i wanted, nice, puffy stars and they gave me starfish (in my opinion)... Also - we were supposed to just have box shaped cakes - we didn't want the flourishes (hard to explain what i mean - but i know what i mean)...

Has anyone used their in house florist? If so, how was your experience w/ them, and did you find that their prices were less than other florists you looked at? Also, were you given any kind of credit for using their in house florist?

Thanks :)

I used PWP florist. I really loved Richard's work and he understood exactly what I was looking for. As for prices, they were right in the range of everywhere else I looked. Maybe a couple of bucks higher, but I loved that they were onsite and could bring anything over in a minute's notice.

Q: Did any of you use any PWP services? Which ones? Why? Was it 'cost efficient'? I am going to the PWP tea party at the Fox Hollow with my mom tomorrow... what should I expect?

I did not end up using any of the PWP services but I did go to a tea party with my mom and had a lot of fun. I ended up meeting a girl and sitting with her and her mother who was getting married the day before me in my very same room. They set up appts for you so I went to the floral appts. I ended up cancelling the photo appts. The girls were very sweet and helpful. You will have a good time.

I used Richard. He was WONDERFUL! i thought his price was very comparable to other florists I had met with and he got my vision with very little guidance from me. He knew what I wanted and that's what I loved about him. Everyone commented on my CP's and especially my BoK. I would def recommend him.

ETA: DH's bout was crushed by people hugging him outside of the church. When we arrived at Fox Hollow, Richard had been notified and had a new one for him by the time we started pictures. Definitely a perk of having him on site!!

Did you ask Fox Hollow to put the flowers on? How much did they charge for that? It looks really nice so I was wondering who did it.

I used PWP for invitations, flowers and DOC. My flowers were beautiful! My DOC's were incredible!! My invitations came out great...though I did have an ordering issue. I would highly recommend them!

When does FH require you to give the final headcount? After looking at another post, I am afraid I didn't give myself enough time to call people who didn't RFSVP. My wedding is the 19th and our RSVP is the 1st of Oct!! what do I do??

Richard at PWP did the flowers on the cake. He included it in my price, but in talking to other florists they can decorate the cake for a little extra.

For cakes - they have a book available, actually, several books available for you to pick - but if you can supply a picture, that is a great idea too!

they showed me a book with 8 cakes and told me I had to pick one of those....should i be making a phone call about this??....

I went with the design I want straight to their bakery... and the woman in charge of wedding cakes said she can make it.. just have the fox hollow fax it over a week before..

I want to say it's 2 weeks before and the day you call in with your number, you make your FINAL appointment....your drop off, FINAL appointment :)

just wanted to add that this appointment is the best one EVER. Dropping everything off, seeing how meticulous the Fox Hollow is with labelling gave me 110% confidence in the way the day would go! It also gave both of us a HUGE sigh of relief, knowing it's not in our hands anymore....our worries were DONE!

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

That is really good to know. As I start thinking of things I need for the FH, like the card box, place cards, etc etc etc, I am making a list and getting nervous.

What i did was start making a pile somewhere. Put things in bags with labels on them and just keep adding. I probably re-labeled everything 5-6 times and when we got to the FH, they labeled everything too....

If you do it slowly, it's less overwhelming!

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread

For those of you who booked rooms at the Exec Inn .. did you use their insert cards for your invites? Or did you have an accomodations card made up by the printer? Or make them yourself? I kinda like the idea of everything in the invite looking the same - I don't like the look of all different prints, fonts, etc.

(I am putting the Fox Hollow direction cards in there though, not sure why I care about the Exec Inn cards but not these .... )

Well, I do know - I am not a big fan of the Exec Inn cards, I think they look a little cheap. Plus, I want to list other accomodations nearby if people don't want to stay at the exec inn ....

long post, sorry!
