Hi girls Im new to this site but I am very seasoned in the banquet field. I would like to clarify that if a wedding hall calls it a 'service charge' then it is ok for them to tax it. If it is called 'gratuity' then they can not charge tax on it. It is perfectly legal, as much as we all dont like it. We cant report them because they are not doing anything illegal, believe me I know.![]()
exactly what I've found out!
I posted it a few pages back.
Tricky, tricky!!!

Re: Hey Ladies...Let's post reception halls and there prices for 07 as we go on our search?
I live (no joke) like 5 blocks away from Russo's on the Bay - and the food is amazingly good. I am there at least once a month - whether its a wedding, e-party, christening, bridal/baby shower, commumion, confirmation, sweet 16 - u get the picture.I have been in every single room, and have seen everything i couild possibly see. I refuse to have my wedding at Russos for this reason. (my e-party is going to be there). My whole family personally knows Frank Russo - and Frank Russo Jr - who is now in charge of Russos on the Bay - bc of all the parties weve had - and all the parties weve gone to. i feel like ive been to Russos sooo many times, that its not as exciting anymore - but - that just proves what a good place it is
Anyways, Russo's gives you food beyond food - and they make the best tortellini alfredo you will ever eat!!
The rooms are pretty - my fav - i think its called the Renessaince room(not sure on that) is the one where the band/dj splits up, and the stairs roll out, and then you see the shadow of the bride and groom ... it holds up to 500 people - my sister got married there - in that room - and was like the 2nd bride to get married in that room in Sept. of 1994(Russo's neice was the first)
If anyone has questions abt Russos - i'll be more than happy to answer them!

hey- my job holds an annual event at the bourne mansion- they set up a tent on the lawn and it's beautiful!! it could get pricey with the rental fee, but it's soo pretty there- bathrooms are small though since the mansion is older.

I went to 10 halls in 2 days and the best price and the most offered and now my hall is the Chateau La Mer. Friday and Sunday - $72.00pp
This includes: 4 maybe 5 choices for dinner
Boat ride on the bay to take pics
Amazing Food
Really caring non-sale pitches
Great location..on the water with a patio and a water fall to take pics
The lobby has a piano and is all marble so pics can be taken there as well
There are 2 weddings at once but they are completely seperate from one another...seperate bridal sweets, seperate guest bathrooms etc...so you are treated like the only bride there
Good luck ladies!!![]()
YEP Amazing and you can get pics like this....

Re: Hey Ladies...Let's post reception halls and there prices for 07 as we go on our search?
I booked the fox hollow for 5/27/07 which is memorial day weekend on a sunday night for $75.00 pp. We liked that date because most people we know would have a 3 day weekend from work. So we still feel like we have the saturday but got a sunday rate. We also got an ice sculpture and choc. fountain added in for free. An extra 1/2 hr was added on to our cocktail hour so we have a 1hr 1/2 for cocktail then the reception is 4 hours. We got 7 entrees and 2 carving stations. Not to bad a deal. They also give you a free bridal suite at the fox hollow inn the night of your wedding and give discounts for out of town guests. We fell in love with the reception room, it has a waterfall in the room...and the outside is just as beautiful...check it out...

Hi everyone, relatively new to the board. Getting married in May 2007 at the SandCastle at 90 pp + tax & grat. Their Menu is outstanding, the offerings at the cocktail hour are fabulous then they serve a seven course meal with the choice of up to 6 entree's. They even threw in honeymoon accommodations in Greece for 10 days!
We just have to pick up the airfare.

Hi, yes it's true we're going to Greece! The resort is called the Aegean Palace, http://www.aegean-palace.gr/ in case you would like to see for yourself. The only hook was that you had to book with them at the initial consultation. I believe breakfast is included. It is not a huge resort, but we plan on doing much sightseeing, so we won't be there for the majority of the time. The adventure of a lifetime...

Re: Hey Ladies...Let's post reception halls and there prices for 07 as we go on our search?
Recently booked the Royalton at Roslyn CC,a beautifull mansion from the 20's.
Their prices in 2006 were:
Fri 125 min-$125+tax+service
Sat Aft 125 min-$120+tax+service
Sat Eve 150 min-$165+tax+service
Sun Aft or Eve 125 min-$130+tax+service
The place is a perfect combination of Carltun on the Park and the Bourne Mansion! We love it!
Also the owner told me you can't tax a tip or any service, whether a charge or even valet parking!

I booked Floral Terrace, which is owned by the same ppl. as Sandcastle and I too am getting the 10 night stay in Greece but we didn't have to book w/them at the consult. The resort is only open from May - Oct and as you said, you have to pay your airfare. They give you a standard room but you can upgrade and pay the difference. Being that we are getting married in Nov. we are going to take a very short honeymoon right after the wedding and then we're going to tour Europe for a couple of weeks in June 2008. We arent going to stay in Crete (where the resort is) for the entire time - we're going to tour around.

Re: Hey Ladies...Let's post reception halls and there prices for 07 as we go on our search?
The only place I went to on that list was Fox Hollow - I didnt even get to talk to anyone. When I called - they said don't make an appointment just come in. When I tried to go two times, both times I was told it was going to be 45 minutes to speak with someone (this is a tuesday at 2pm, I took a day off from work) - when I just said I wanted to look at the rooms - only one room was available, and it would have been a tight fit. I think they are pretty reasonable though.
