I think you are right. Since I was engaged all of a sudden I am noticing more and more details and such.
I hope that my guest see these things and are excited for them as i am. LOL

i know before this id just look at an invite and just get the info...but now i appreciate all the little things a lot more just because i know the craziness that goes in to all of this

Deb i dont think you will make anyone mad! LOL. I do think I spent more than I wanted on invites but FH and I fell for an invite and that was that! LOL.

It is hard because you start looking at these extras and such and realize how much you are actually spending. Like on STAMPS!!!! UGH!

Is it too early to begin things like petal cones, programs and menus? I mean, I don't have all the info for the programs and menus yet, but should i start making the layout? And, also, for those of you making them on your computer, what program do you use...can you use Microsoft Word, or do you need something special? TIA..i'm freaking!

I am going to start making the programs and such.
We are waiting till after we go to the last showcase in August for our reception hall to pick some menu items. I think you can start on it . Why not? The end of the summer tends to be busier for me, so i am doing what I can now.

I don't have all my info yet, but I've already created the outlines and cover designs, etc...if you have the time for it now, definitely do it to save yourself the trouble later on.

I designed them on my computer...menus and direction cards using Word, table numbers using PowerPoint, and programs using MS Publisher (there's a template for a concert program on Publisher that I changed to fit my needs, but you can also create programs using Word)

I don't know what I'm going to do about printing yet...I'm tempted to print out a copy on a good printer and make copies at work rather than go to a real printing place since programs and direction cards will be in B&W.

As for petal cones...not sure...if you make them now, you'll have to store them for thenext 4 months and make sure they don't get squished.

We are not doing petal cones.. I am not sure what people are throwing as we leave the church... if anything. LOL

I'm going through the same thing with wedding planning, and my sister's pregnant and going through the same thing with baby stuff! I think once you become involved in something, you tend to notice more of the details than the average person.

i got mine at invitationsbydawn.com- simple square with just the rsvp spent around 350.00 (we are getting married at the RH) i am going to put the direction card in for the guest along with a note for the hotel that i blocked our rooms at- that is it- only people who may keep the invite is our parents and i am going to save one for our scrap book. i know this may make some girls mad but its just paper- i have seen sooooooo many beautiful invite and they are sooooooo much money i just could use the money in other places-

Those are BEAUTIFUL!!!! No, you didn't hurt my feelings I did the same thing, ordered our invitations from ExclusivelyWeddings.com for about $250 because we've budgeted more $$ in other places, like you said.

I've been off from school for 2 weeks now today, and I've been in planning mode ever since. My post count has gone up here too! Guess I'm spending too much time on here!!

More to check off the TO-DO list today:
• post office - weigh full invitation envelope & buy stamps
• number reception cards & match with guest list
• proof addresses to print envelopes
• get Hebrew names (from parents) for Ketubah
• make appt with florist
• my first dress fitting!!!

ETA: I have butterflies about the dress fitting.... can't figure out why!

just got back from my fav store acmoore

picked up my 'we DO' letters and paint

will work on those this weekend will post when done. and got some paper to try to see if i can make up some mock menus- i really dont want to use what the hall has- got there name and log all over it- keep you all posted on that too!!

i started my petal cones yesterday and will hopefully be done with the programs and menus by august. i don't think its too soon to start anything - just be careful and put it in a box so it doesn't get squished. i was able to stack them together so it made them sturdier...

working on addressing invites and hopefully mailed out by the end of this month!

You must be so excited!! For me, putting on my dress and getting the invitations made it all seem and feel real, like yes, this is really happening! Can you post a pic of your invitations? I'd love to see them!
