Malverne has parking restrictions too, but I dont think its as bad as Lynbrook
coming from suffolk i was like 'um are they kidding me?'.. some nights we just left the car on the street (got a ticket no less) but oh well lol.

what is Lynbrook like?
lol my DH grew up there.
Like she said the parking KILLS ME lol hehehehehehe.
its ok though. he never complained
My DH grew up there too..I think it's kind of an older town, IMO but defintitely quiet. The good restaurants/bars are in Rockville Centre, which isn't too far. Rockville Centre has some nice houses as well.
DH and I looked for houses over a year before we found one in Massapequa. I was hesitant to move that far bc I'm from Staten Island . I know it's been said in previous posts, but I really like Massapequa, and I feel the other towns near it are great too - Bellmore, Wantagh, Seaford, Planview, Oyster Bay. I also commute to Manhattan - its not terrible, considering the commute from Staten Island to Manhattan was awful. But like anything else, you get used to it.
Good luck to everyone looking!

Re: NWR: Where is a good place to live on LI?
lynbrook is a really nice area and you are close to everything! the trains are like right there, so many resturants and bars and everything.. but yes the only down fall of the town could be the parking but honestly if your going to rent a condo or co-op i dont think you need to worry about that because the condos and co-ops in lynbrook especially they have their own parking lot and garages even! lynbrook has great beautiful condos to rent and or even co-ops and town houses! :)the 2 places you found that you like in that town are where? are they condos?

i only had to deal with lynbrook parking for work. I worked in an office above a bank. Bank customers would park in our spots or people going to teh local stores/restaurants would park in our spots, illegally. There is a municipal lot which people dont like b/c they actually have to walk to where they want to be (not far at all!!)
Everyday I was fighting with people about the spots. Thank god i'm outta there!!!

it doesnt say, just says lynbrook. No they are in a house.
DH also wants me to call the place his friends live, its duplex townhouses in amityville village i think. There is a waiting list though so thats my only concern but his friends told us that something did just become available but if theres a waiting list i am sure it will go to others first.

malverne restrictions are really no one is the street from 3am-7am or something like that but you can call the malverne cops and tell them you have a car there and its fine

my sister and brother in law live in Oyster Bay so we go there a lot. its a great town and they have great schools!
DH is from Mineola. They also have a good school system but I feel like its just so crowded there.
We live in Long Beach. I love it! But I dont know what the schools are like. But you can't beat it in the summer!
I dont mind the crowded part, depends exactly what you mean by that lol. I do want to live like on a quiet block but I want to have a residential and more lively area very near by. I want to have restaurants and shops just a few mins away from us.
I was looking at long beach too but Dh said its out of the way from him bc depending where you live its not close to certain highways and stuff. I used to go to long beach every weekend and i got there quickly from queens, but i also took the nassau expressway to get there so not 100% sure what he is talking about
I think all of LI is crowded population wise, but what I meant was crowded as in I feel like a lot of the homes are on top of eachother. i just dont like that feeling in a home.

I grew up in Rockville Centre and you can't park overnight in the street either. It's not a problem though because everyone has garages and pretty long driveways.

I don't like if there are no homes nearby lol, i know some love this but if homes were too far apart and had alot of empty land around us, that freaks me out. I can take NYC trains at 3am and i am fine, but living out there like that scares me i know i am weird. Some space is fine as long as its not too much.
One summer my friends and I rented a house in martha's vineyard for a week and it was this big nice house, to get to the house theres was an entrance off the road and it was this long dirt road just to get to the house and it was on 10 acres of land. The garbage cans weren't right in front of the house, you had to walk a little on the dirt road, well it was like this long dirt road with tall grass on both sides, and yeah i said there is no way i am going out at night to throw the garbage lol

thank you for the info. I am looking at places that have a parking spot but yeah might be a problem if lets say they only will provide 1 parking spot since we have more than 1 car.

for some reasons alot of places are in oyster bay, would also like massapequa since i am more familiar with this area and we know ppl in massapequa and also open to places very close to massapequa. Huntington, seaford, rockville center, mineola. Pretty much nassau county. But cant be the beginning part too close to queens bc dh needs something a bit closer for when he has to work far out in suffolk. Or beginning parts of suffolk are ok.

A good place? or a Cheap Place? LOL
both would be great lol. Definitely wouldn't pick a place just bc its cheap though, like if its in a bad area and commute would be horrible then it wouldn't be worth it. Also can't have it too far out in suffolk either. So i would say a good place, nice neighborhood at reasonable prices not necessarily cheap but if life were that easy and we can get all of that then perfect lol

Re: NWR: Where is a good place to live on LI?
When we were little, we lived in Malverne until I was 6 and then moved to Rockville Centre where my parents still live. Like someone else said, the schools in Malverne aren't great and we went to Catholic school until we moved. Malverne is a cute town though.I don't know if you're planning on renting or buying but they say you should only buy if you plan on staying there for 5 years to build enough equity in the home.
Another great thing about Rockville Centre is that they have their own electric so it's a lot cheaper than LIPA.
