hello, i am new to this. my fiance and i are considering the de seversky for september 2010 for the reception not the ceremony. we are expecting 175-200 guests. has anyone experienced a european style wedding with this high # of guests? curious how seating works in the ballroom for guests, since there is not enough seating to accomodate all guests. thanks!

Hi There! First off - congrats on your engagement and welcome!

We will probably have around 175 for our wedding (inviting 200) and we are doing the European Style (cocktail hour in the terrace room, formal sit down dinner in the ballroom, then back to the other side of the mansion for dancing after dinner). I know deseversky can comfortably fit less than 150-ish in the Ballroom for a 'normal wedding' (with dj/band during dinner) and a dancefloor - so 175-200 in the ballroom, withouth the space taken out for the dancefloor and dj/band should be fine.

When are you planning on getting married? De Seversky is such a beautiful place and every review I have heard or read has been wonderful! Feel free to ask us anything!

Hey girls!

For girls that are not doing dinner and dancing in the ballroom, what are you doing as far as flowers/centerpeices. I am doing mansion style and the tables are going to be spread throughout the ballroom and library with no real assigned seating.

Just saw this and wanted to say I had my reception at the de Seversky center in 2005 and loved it! You will all have gorgeous weddings!

Kiki - Doing a European Style wedding - which is different than the Mansion Style. Sorry - I am of no help! But - I still will be doing high centerpieces for the dinner tables (even though we will only be in the ballroom for dinner for about an hour and a half). I know it might be viewed as a waste - but I love the look of a high centerpiece at the dinner table for a wedding.

I would definitely get in contact with who you are wokring with at the RH and see if you can stop by the RH before another wedding in your style to get some ideas. That was recommended to me, and Melissa, who I am working with, was more than happy to let me stop by before a wedding in my style to see how it is set up. Unfortunately I have to wait til June - but I am so excited to see and get some ideas!

Thanks Alana, that is such a great idea. I totally didn't even think of that.

I'll contact Eric and see when the next mansion style wedding is! Hopefully soon before I start looking at florists.

I just spoke to Lia, and she said she has a wedding coming up this week at De Seversky! She said she can email us pictures after she releases them to the bride. So exciting!

Have you seen any pictures from her from De Seversky?

Oh that's great! When I went to meet with her a few months ago she actually had a book of a wedding that she did at de Seversky from a few years ago (2006 I think?). The pics came out so pretty - I am soooo excited to have pics taken there

Have any of you girls started looking at florists yet? I know they have a few recommended florists, but I hadn't heard of them so I didn't know if any of you were looking into them.

I will using a florist in Locut Valley, although I haven't 'officially' booked them yet. My mother is friends with one of the women who works there and she has already agreed to doing my wedding...but we haven't signed anything as of yet.

I did!!!! I went to like 4 already. Once we book our videographer and our band, I am gonna book florisst. I found a pretty great deal and her work is great!

Sorry girlie, I am having mine at a church,
But I thought they normally have it outside on the back patio thingy behind the garden room. If it rains I saw it set up in the terrace room (yellow room)

If your guest count is under 100 the alternate location is the terrace room...if it's larger then the alternate location is the Atrium room (that room can fit around 130 i think...) and if its even bigger then the location is the ballroom.

p.s. do you girls know who the recommended florists are?

Hey I am sorry I just saw your message. Yes I can recommend you an amazing band. Their singers are simply amazing. They are pricey though. Empyrial Strings. Actually Eric recommended them from De Seversky

I am having it outside, but if it rains it would most probobly be at the glass room. I think thats the name of it
