I don't think it's stupid at all. I originally wanted to do only the bo-k toss until I realized that there would be only 2 single gals It's your wedding, you can do whatever you want...I just went to a wedding where they didn't do any of those things including the cake cutting and it was not missed at all!

I agree. I've also seen where they've done the tosses, but didn't have the guy who caught the garter put it on the leg of the girl who caught the bo-k.

Welcome Charonda, Dawn, Jen, Jennifer, Megan, and Vanessa, my name is Renay and I am 41. There is a lot I am not doing no veil, b-ok, garter, daughter/father dance (my dad past away thirty- something years ago), son/mother dance (they both do not want it), and no bridal party (way too much drama with both families and my friends) I am giving way two b-ok for the couple who has been married longest if they dance or not and the other who anniversary is on or near my wedding date. There is a lot more stuff I am doing that’s not traditional.

hi all. . I was on here once a while ago and now actually fit!! (36 here) I am def not doing boq or garter thing but am doing a veil, father/daughter dance etc. . it's still my first wedding and I feel like a kid so figure hey I can do what I want!! but don't have many friends who are single or if they are who would want to come out and try to catch something. . so I figure more time for drink and dance. . my wedding is in 46 days and I have way too much to do. .

Hi Renay,

I had never thought of giving the bo-k to the couple married the longest. Maybe I will do that instead! One of the couples at my wedding will be celebrating their 58th wedding anniversary the next day and I was planning on mentioning them in some way. Especially since they told me that my reception site is where they used to frequently go when they were 'courting'( back then it was a restaurant). Thanks for the idea!

Have you gotten your veil yet? If so, where did you get it? The store where I got my dress went out of business, and I have no idea where to start looking!

I would love to hear your other non traditional things your doing. We are trying to be non traditional also.....no veil, to garter belt, no bouquet toss. no ring bearer, no flower girl. FM if you feel more comfortable

I love the idea of celebrating an anniversary close to my wedding date!! Can I steal it?????

Is there anyone who is stressing about things like colors and flowers?
I found it easy to pick for both.
I went with favorite colors (both FH and I love blue) and Ivory which is the color of my dress.

Flowers- I also am using my favorites Red and Ivory Roses.

i have read that some brides stress over some of these things and I thought it was the easiest part of my planning.

I haven't really been stressed about the colors or flowers. The only color-related stress was really more BM dress related. I had originally picked a Watter & Watter dress, which I had planned to have in ivory and periwinkle since purple is my favorite color. My sister (who is my MOH) pitched a fit in the store about everything that was wrong with the dress, so that nixed that idea. I found a different dress, but didn't like the shades of purple it came in. So now, the colors are ivory and peony (which really looks more raspberry).

Right now my biggest stress is how I am going to wear my hair. I have no clue. Do I want it all up- all down or half up. I dont know. What will look best with a comb.

My comb is similar to that. I'm doing my hair all up, but mainly because my hair tends to get frizzy when it's hot and humid. And August wedding date = hot and humid!

Have you had any hair trials yet? Maybe you can have them try a few different styles to see what you like best.

No I havent- actually my sil/moh is going to do my hair. One day we have to sit down and let her try different things. But I want to have an idea and I have no ideas!!

I'm wearing my hair up and adding hair. I sweat too much that's why we are having a November wedding. Nothing makes me more sexy than a shining face from sweat.

You can ask me anything. I didn't want a wedding dress, so I've decided to wear a long evening gown for the ceremony and a sexy one for the reception. These dresses are cheaper and I can spend the money else where.
