Re: Official 30+ Brides (previously 40+ thread)
That's what I call them. A lot of photogs have them on their web sites. They're pics of the bride looking all sultry and provocative. I give the girls who can pull that off credit, but if my photographer tried telling me to 'make love to the camera', he'd probably wind up with the camera down his throat!

Hey everyone....I am a barley 30+ bride but i am one nonetheless.
The garter toss is out. I dont think there will be any single guys there anyway. The bouqet toss has been xxxed out also. The anniversary dance is a nice idea. How exactly does it work...you ask all of the couples that have been together for a certain number of years to come up?
The way we're going to do it is to have all married couples go onto the dance floor. Then as the song is played, the band will have couples married less than 1 year leave the dance floor, less than 5 years, etc. until there's only 1 couple left. That couple will get the bo-k

I am going to do that also. From what I hear is that the DJ will have everyone on the dance floor and every couple of seconds/min he will ask anyone 10yr or less married please sit- then 20 years- 25 yrs etc until the last couple is standing who was married the longest. We are planning on giving that couple a bottle of champagne.

i'm barely a 30+ bride. I will be 31 when I get married in March. There are a lot of things that I'm not doing for the wedding, that i might have done if i did get married at 22.

I also am not doing a RB pillow. My RB is going to carry a large ring with the fake rings hanging from it.
This is what it looks like
didnt post- I will ttry again
I never saw one of those. How old is your RB? My nephews (5 y/o and 6 y/o) will be my RBs. For my sister's wedding, they carried silver flowers that could hold the rings. I think I'll have them use those again for mine. Hey, can that count as my something borrowed??

Hi- Welcome Jen and Megan
I see that you both are getting married this year. Are you guys doing anything different than the 20+ brides?
We have noticed that as older brides some things dont mean as much to us.
For example- I am not doing the Bouquet/garter toss- not wearing a veil- no mother/son-father/daughter dance
Hi, thanks for having us!
The things that I am not doing that I guess are usually typical are:
No garter toss, I never liked it, even as a kid!
I am wearing a veil, but I'm not doing the whole over my face thing walking down the aisle. The veil will be towards the back of my head and I assume will be coming off when I get to the reception.
I think I am doing the boK toss, I'm not doing a special dance, but FH may with his mother.(I'm afraid she will have a sh**fit if he doesn't)
I'm also not doing a card box, in fact until I joined this site, I had never even heard of it.
I'm sure there are a few other things, can't think right now!

Welcome Megan and Jen!!!!!! I'm Kirsten, I got married last summer and I'm 41 now. Like Celia said above, we love to hear about everyone's planning but find that we are doing/did things a little differently than some of the younger brides here.
I also didn't do a garter/bo-k toss...my 'thing' with my wedding was that the food had to be fab lol![]()
Hi Kirsten!
I agree about the garter/bo-k toss. I'm going to do an anniversary dance, instead of the bo-k toss. In an odd coincidence, at their weddings, my parents and FH's parents had the same song as their first dance. So we'll use that song for the anniversary dance.
No garter toss, at all. I don't need FH digging around under my dress in front of our friend and families!
That was the number one reason why we didn't do it...there was no way lol
We also did the anniversary dance and we gave a bottle of wine to the winners. They were married over 60 years

Welcome charondita!
The MC/DJ/band leader invites all the couples out on the dance floor. Then he announces that everyone married for less than a year must leave the dance floor (you and DH lol). Then he keeps counting down (less than 2 years etc) until there is one couple and they are usually given a bottle of wine or you can arrange w/your florist to give them an extra bo-k if you want.
It's fun and a great alternative to the bo-k toss and the garter digging (lol)!!

Re: Official 30+ Brides (previously 40+ thread)
I have a question FH wants to do the garter thing (take it off that is)...but he knows I don't want to do the BoK toss (most friends are married)..so would it look stupid to let him take off the garter but not do the tosses

Welcome Im Getting Married!
I don't think it's stupid at all. I originally wanted to do only the bo-k toss until I realized that there would be only 2 single gals
It's your wedding, you can do whatever you want...I just went to a wedding where they didn't do any of those things including the cake cutting and it was not missed at all!

!I did the same thing with my veil. No blusher, just towards the back of my head and it came off during the reception. FH did the mother-son dance but I didn't do any special dances...my dad passed away and my uncle, who gave me away, had knee problems so we didnt do the uncle-niece dance.
