Oh yay!!! Thank you Kristen. This is great, I notebooked it. I havent gotten my dress yet. i went looking in Nov, tried on a few. The one I loved in the store, I hated when I saw the pic of me in it. The one I hated in the store, I thought... maybe. Easter week I am going to take a day off and go try dresses on with my MOH. I have about 6 picked out to try. We will see what happens then.
You're welcome...isn't the notebook feature great?! It's funny, I had a similar experience...I tried on dresses I wasn't sure about and they look totally different on then they do on the hanger...I guess it just goes to show you that we have to try to be open minded lol![]()
I think they have skinny mirrors in the stores. Because looking in the mirror I though OMG this dress makes me look great. But the pics make me look like the big woman I am.![]()

The pics of those dresses are in my album. Its the 2nd dress that I thought looked great in the mirror but didnt like in pics

Question about father/daughter dance..Re: Official 40+ Brides
Thank you girls for welcoming me! I got some weird message when I posted that the post was more than 15 weeks old....so I didn't realize I should check back. Online life is not as easy for me at 41....I'm used to good old rotary phones when I want to talk to my friends...With that being said, I am very happy to be here!
A little background and then my question:
My fiance is 12 years younger, he is 29, I am 41. It is a first marriage for us both. His parents and grandparents are still alive, where as I just have my Mom. (In fact, his grandmother is the same age as my Mother...and his parents are only 11 years older than me, both being 52....so they are actually closer in age to me than I am to him....slightly uncomfortable for me....which is a topic for another post...lol)
My question is...what should I do for the mother/groom father/bride dance? My FH wants me to skip it all together bc my Dad is deceased, but I think it is important that he dances with his Mom. Any suggestions?
Thanks ladies!

Welcome back!- Dont worry about that weird post. I get it all the time too.
I am not having the Mom/groom or dad/daughter dance either. FH'm mom is on oxygen and a walker and wont be able to dance (if she comes at all). So I felt bad dancing with my dad and him not his mom.
You can still have a special dance for him and his mom that he can dedicate to her without annoucing it as 'time for the mother and groom etc...' We are going to have an anniversary dance instead of those dances and give a bottle of champagne to the longest married couple.
Or if you have a Brother, Brother-in-law or Uncle you can dance with you can do that also.
I also want to share something. My brother married a girl 12 yrs younger than him (she is 30 and he is 42) and his in-laws are closer to his age also. He is the happiest he has ever been in his life.

My dad passed away also...we had the mother/son dance but not the father/daughter one. My uncle walked me down the aisle but he has knee problems (he's 80!!!) so we didn't do an uncle/niece dance. We also did the anniversary dance (no garter or bo-k toss) and gave a bottle of nice champagne to the couple married the longest. Don't worry...you can do whatever you like on your wedding day, it's your day

Haha I agree...they def have skinny mirrors in the stores...I remember when you posted a thread about the dresses once! I like the second one too
I tried on so many dresses but only one of them gave me 'the feeling.' I bought it that day...you will know when you've found the 'one'
! And you don't look like a 'big woman' by the way

Re: Official 40+ Brides
Welcome back. My dad passed away too. My FH and FMIL both said no to the dance because she is 79 with a cane and doesn't want everyone looking at her. I am only doing an anniversary dance too, but I'm giving away two bo-k to two couples one on the dance and the other to the couple who in their heart feel they can still dance. Both familes are not champagne drinks but the hard stuff, so for the men I was thinking garters saying 'one are the lucky one' or something like that. I have to work on it.

I like that idea of giving a bo-k to a couple who still feels that they can dance! Maybe you can just do the bo-k and not give something specifically for the men?

Ok- I am totally burnt out. In the past 2 days FH's aunt/Godmother passed away, a coworker passed away, another coworker has been diagnosed with breast cancer, she is 42, a very good friend of mine has been sick and now her organs are shutting down, They arent giving her long, she is only 49. FMIL has been giving us problems again. My cake topper has been lost in the mail. And to top it off at work they took away our morning and afternoon breaks so now when I need a cigarette (which the past few days is more than normal) i cant have one.Sorry, just needed to vent

The cigarette was great when I finally had one after work. Just sat in my car and smoked away (I usually try not to smoke in the car either)

Re: Official 40+ Brides
Okay ladies, here is something to think about. What was the one thing you wanted at your wedding when you was in your 20s and now you say to yourself what was I thinking.Okay, I will start, I went to a fashion high school and college and I had designed my dress. I need you to have the same vision as me. The dress was white, big with a ten foot train. For the first dance the train come off and it's was a ball grown. Now to leave the RH the bottom half come off and it's a cape and under the dress was a pair of pants. Remember is the 80s everything is over the top. Now here is the problem with the whole thing. I had never thought about going to the bathroom, how heavy all this would be to carry or how hot. Now in my mind I thought this was cute, different, and original. Today, I look at dresses for comfort, light, going to the bathroom. Okay who next.

Re: Official 40+ Brides
The difference with me I was married once in my 20's I HAD that big ball room dress with the huge train. And what a pain in the neck it was to go to the bathroom. I needed 2 bridesmaids with me everytime I went. Oh and the bustle, Damn thing kept falling down, It was so heavy the the snaps and buttons broke. I also had the 4 inch heels that killed my feet, but were so pretty. Had the Venitian Hour, why... I dont know, just needed it at the time. I didnt touch anything on it.This time its all about confort. I want a nice light comfortable dress so I can go to the bathroom by myself.
No heels, maybe 1 inch and then change into flip flops. I want to enjoy every minute of my wedding and not have to worry about dragging my dress around or have blisters on my feet.

Eveytime i look at a dress i think how am i to go to the bathroom. Evry wedding i was in or help with I remeber helping them in the bathroom. Oh, what I didn't tell about the dress was i was in love with Fredericks of Hollywood, so you can just think about what was under the pants, top, and shoes.
I think i was a problem child. Welcome New Vendors
