FH and I are really stressing out over this wedding. We only have Saturdays to work on things and Starting March 14 we wont even have that till the end of June. (I am taking a class for a test I have to take for work). Weekday evenings he is the caregiver for his mom who is home bound, on a walker and on oxygen ( and is so difficult to deal with) and on Sundays I am there to help him out. We dont seem to have any time for ourselves. Between the stress of the church and trying to find FH baptism certificate and everything else we are starting to think maybe we should have just gotten married at city hall and go on a HM. I know he really wants this wedding since its his first but I am so afraid all of this will take a toll on him. I am sorry I need to vent a little. Couldnt really with my family because as I have said in other posts they dont understand why we are doing this anyway.
Thank you all for listening. I am sure we will still go on with the plans but we need to have time for ourselves and we have to find it sometime.
You def. have a lot on your plate right nowSounds like you and FH really need some quality time. Is there any way you can take even a one-day trip and get away?
I'm also wondering about your FMIL. Being a primary caretaker can totally take its toll....it doesn't seem fair to him (I hope you don't mind my saying that)- can he get a nurse's aide or someone to relieve him/help him at least one night each week to free up an evening for him (and you)?
We have an aid there till 6:00 Mon-Fri and Sat till 8:00. We are looking into getting one for Sundays and maybe eventually (in the summer) a 24 hour live in. If we get a live in it would make life so much easier., and we would be able to get away. What stinks is that we have a house in Greenport that is a gerat getaway place but we cant get there unless its just for the day. Its just getting harder and harder especially since she is such a difficult person.
Good note though, FH got his Baptism Cert. in th mail today. One less worry.
That's great
Sounds like you are trying to get more help for her which will in turn help you and FH a lot
It makes it worse that she is difficult. Is she happy for you guys at all??

Welcome Cari! I'm Gina, and I'm 40. I'm not doing the toss either. I didn't want to have a BP, and just wanted to have my 2 sisters as MOHs and FH was going to have his 3 best friends as GM. However, we needed to include his sister, so I now have a BP of 3 and 3.

Re: Official 40+ Brides
We went to sit with our DJ on Sat. I loved him!!! He gave us to go ahead to pick whatever songs we wanted. If we wanted to pick every song he plays we can do that. I think that would be a little much to do, but I am glad he is giving options. He also promised us if someone request a song on our Do Not Play list he will not play it. We are just going for the basic package, no giveaways or up lighting or special MC. I am so happy with him.

I was just reading a post about the RH bathroom. Are any of you doing anything for the bathroom like flowers, decorating or baskets? To me, I never even though about it. As long as the bathrooms are clean, I dont really care.

Re: Official 40+ Brides
I am not doing bathroom baskets - was never even a thought in my head. I swear, I always assumed the place did them for you.I am also not doing 'cry-packs.' I didn't even know what those were till a couple of months ago. I always thought if you're going to a wedding and you're the type to cry at weddings (like me) you bring tissues.
I'm glad you met with your DJ. He sounds just like mine (FM?)

And the Cry - pack thing. I dont get that either. I always bring tissues to a wedding. Also the slipper basket. If my shoes hurt at a wedding I take them off. But usually I will wear a pair of shoe that are comfy, I never expect the bride to provide for my feet.

I am so glad you get to choose the music. I am not doing anything for the bathroom, slipper or cry packs. I can think of a lot of things I can add to my honeymoon. I am at a point that if it's not free, then i just don't need it. Also since the bulk of both of our families are not from NY, they wouldn't even miss it. None of my friends knows about LIW and I have been going to weddings since we got engage.

My DJ is a family friend of FH, so I get to pick all the music. Sincs I haven't seen him play I am just not going to get that work up. FMIL love him and wanted him to do the music I'm not going to loose sleep over it.
