I understand, we both take care of our 68 and 78 year old mothers.

In someway they are both self sufficiant, but in others they are not. I'm not looking for an over the top wedding, but something I will love and be very happy with. That's why we looked at RH with a lot of things added in the package. One less bill.

It's funny because FH and I have all the money for the 'extras' but we'd rather spend it in other places! For example, I'd love to have beautiful over the top invitations, but who even notices these things other than the bride? Also, the cry packs, bathroom baskets, etc., you can go nuts spending a fortune.

We try to spend our money on the things that matter the most to us at the wedding....food, music, and the people we're inviting.

Also, we've decided to take a long ,extended honeymoon - which is something that is important to both of us.

I agree, we spending the most for food, music, and the people. Everything else will be budget. I just cannot see why invites cost so much. To me if it most than $150 for everything including shipping than I don't want them. I'm not a flower preson so I will take what the RH are giving in their package. Is anyone else cut on something but upgraded in others.

i am seeing on here brides spending $4.00 -$5.00 per invitation. I am looking for all my invititions to be under $175. (including stamps) I am looking at the online catalogs and have found some really pretty ones in that price range.

I agree, but I really want it for $150 with the stamps. I am so bad. I just think the money for invites can go for the HM or pay a bill early. Anyone else cut on something but upgraded in others.

Re: Official 40+ Brides

we are using the silk cp the rh provides IMO cp's are a big waste of money

since we are getting married at rh we are just getting limos for the end of the night

bought my dress(a Maggie) and veil at a sample sale and saved over eleven hundred dollars

would like to spend less then $200.00 on invites

still shopping for photo and video

big splurge is RH and HM

I went to the wedding plaza in Floral Park and got a great package. Photo, video, limo, flowers, dj, FH tux for $5,000. Total under budget. The centerpieces at RH i was going to use what came with the hall, but my mom wanted to make them. What I am going to splurge on is the rings( we want diamond bands) and HM. We are going to do a cruise and upgrade to a suite.

There is a thread on BHB that is

Do/Will you call In laws by their first names??

If any of you have in-laws, just wondering what you call them.

I call my MIL 'mom' and my DH calls my mom 'mom'

I can understand, for my mother I say mommy, so calling myFMIL mom didn't bother me.

Re: Official 40+ Brides

I'm awful - I don't call them anything!

In the 2 years we've been dating, they've never said call me '_______' They live in FL so I only see them once or twice a year. Whenever they call, they call on FH's cell phone, so I never really speak to them unless they're in the room.

I guess I'll call them by their first names. That's what FH calls my mom. Plus, it would be very strange for me to call them mom and dad....especially since they're not the 'warmest' people in the world.

How is everyone for music? Celtic and bluegrass is the only music I won't play. My FMIL loves Celtic but it puts me to sleep, maybe I will try harder. Anyone else?

Re: Official 40+ Brides

I can't do hip-hop! FH loves his heavy metal and I'm a huge Jimmy Buffett fan.

Thankfully, my dj specifically told us that he won't play a request unless he feels it fits in with the music we have given him to play. Everything else, he's going to run by me or FH.

Some DJ say you have to play current music, but I'm really not feeling anything past 1995. Is anyone else at that point.
