I'm still thinking the big bag and then giving it to my mom. If I had a card box it would go on the table where my mom would sit because she doesn't dance and would guard the box.

I was speaking to FH about card boxes yesterday. I told him that I really didnt want it. He likes the idea. So i am going to go by his opinion and get a card box. I was looking at some of them. I really didnt like those elaborate 3 tiered one but I came across this which I kinda liked. What do you guys think

We are using the silk cp's from the RH. Rather spend that money on HM.

I can understand that. My problem with a lot of things other brides are spending on I can use the money for things e.g. mortage, a vacation for next year, making improvement on the house. That's just me. Both of our families only care about is food and music.

We got married a year ago. We were both 51 years old. (First wedding for both of us).

Random thoughts.....or possibly advice???

My MOH was my best friend from college. My DH's BM was his best friend from college. That was our BP.

I walked about 3/4 of the way down the aisle and my DH met me there. We walked to the altar together...hand in hand.

I didn't wear a veil. I had my hair half up and half down. I wore a comb with real flowers that coordinated with my bouquet. My MOH also wore a comb with real flowers that coordinated with our bouqeuets.

BM wore a vest that matched the MOH's dress.

We didn't do the garter thing.

For part of the reception, we had classical musicians. For the rest of the reception, we had a band. We didn't have rock and roll or high-volume music. Most of the guest were older than us and wouldn't have appreciated loud music.

My father passed away about 8 years ago, so obviously we didn't have the father/daughter dance. But, I thought that my DH should have the mother/son dance. He did.

We had under 100 guests...just those people that meant the most to us through the years.

Hope this helps the brides-to-be or at least gives you something to think about when making your decisions.

Also, we did not do the card cage or box. I bought a pretty bag (with drawstring) with a claddagh on it (which was also on our invitations).

We did not send out STD's. We relied on word-of-mouth.

We went to Jackson Hole WY for our honeymoon. We bought a photograph by a famous Jackson Hole photograper and that was our wedding gift to each other. It's a rememberance of our honeymoon and is hung in the hall right outside our bedroom.

I know, I'm trying to keep it alive. What type of dress are we looking for? I not into spending thousands of dollars for the dress, I was thinking of wearing a cocktail evening dress (long) and for the reception a party dress I can dance in. Both dresses I will wear again. Any thoughts?

That's a good (hard!) question...not sure, maybe the cake cutting?? I did a seashell theme and had 'Jaws' as our cake-cutting song lol :) I liked it because we got to taste the cake and it was soooo good, tasted just like the cake did at the tasting!!! I was so relieved it wasn't awful and dried out (I've had a lot of bad wedding cake in my life lol!).

Ladies, what kind of cake did you have/will you have?? :)

Ours was chocolate and vanilla alternating layers w/chocolate mousse and raspberry filling. Sorry to blab on and on about cake...I must be hungry

As for dresses I bought an A-line dress by Demetrios at Macy's Bridal Salon by Demetrios. A-line dresses are great-they are partially fitted on top so they are feminine and also hide your tummy lol!!!!!!! I went to a trunk show and saved 15%. I tried on about 15-16 dresses at different stores before I found it.

My dress is an A-Line Maggie that I bought at a sample sale with veil total $386.00. I love it and loved that I saved over eleven hundred on them!!

My dress is also an A-line Maggie (the Gloriana). It's very simple - I didn't want a lot of frou-frou. I still haven't figured out headpiece, shoes, etc., yet. The only reason I even got the dress already is that my mom made me go shopping with her and when I tried it on I immediately knew there was no reason to look any further! It was just over $900 (including all alterations except the bustle)

I love the idea of two different dresses...esp if you can wear them both again, that's a big plus !!

I like them both but I think I like the sesond one better...I love the detail on the side waist Which one RU leaning towards? Or will you keep looking?

I say...go with whatever dress you want...whatever gives you that 'this is the dress' moment when you try it on.

I searched this website for plus-sized wedding dresses and found Alfred Angelo. I went to the Alfred Angelo website and searched. I found a dress that looked nice and was the style that I had in mind...not too much beading, lace sleeves, a short train, and a sweetheart neckline. According to the website, it was sold at a bridal shop in Lynbrook. I went to the store and they had the dress in my size. The woman took that dress and a few similar dresses into the dressing room. I tried on the Alfred Angelo dress first...and knew in an instant that it was 'my' dress....the dress that I was meant to buy. I walked out of the dressing room and went to where my Mom was sitting. I could see by the look on her face that she felt the same way.

I tried on the other dresses...but none of them compared to the first dress.

Go with your heart!!!!!
