Re: ~OFFICIAL DOUGLASTON MANOR THREAD~

And I'm back and married! Best day of our lives. Not going to do a full review yet, but Douglaston Manor was AMAZING. We were extremely happy with everthing there. Cocktail hour was phenomenal, drinks were flowing all night long. Dinner was so good too. Everyone loved the food.

I was super happy when I found out Thomas would be our man the day of. He was so great throughout the entire process.

Nothing to worrry about with the cake. It turned out EXACTLY like the picture I gave them.

So for those of you who were waiting on pictures of the room, uplighting, cake etc... here ya go! Let me know if you have any questions about the DM!

some pics: before uplighting, with uplighting, cake shot, bp shot, and a few of us... :)

To be honest, they did an amazing job. We didn't have our ceremony there, only the reception so I can't speak for that part.

The two semi-downsides to the DM (just in general to be considered before hand):
1. No nearby hotels (our guests stayed in Garden City so we supplied shuttles.)
2. It is not guaranteed that the coordinator that you've been working with throughout the entire planning process will be there for you on the day of. We got lucky that Thomas was there for the planning, then working at our wedding. This was the one thing i was nervous about before hand.

We'll be talking to a lot more of our guests this long weekend, so if I hear anything else i'll be sure to let you know!

Re: ~OFFICIAL DOUGLASTON MANOR THREAD~

Thanks for info..your pictures are beautiful...
Did you do low centerpieces or high? I'm still on the fence with this. I'm having the long oval tables so I'm afraid that the low one won't make a great impact.

Re: ~OFFICIAL DOUGLASTON MANOR THREAD~

We did the large 12-person tables with small centerpieces (i think you can see them in the first two pictures.) They were simple, but I think they worked out perfectly!

Re: ~OFFICIAL DOUGLASTON MANOR THREAD~

Hey ladies...

Quick question -- I think I am going to hire cigar rollers for my cocktail hour, but wanted to know where (if you had them at your wedding) did they set up inside?? Since my wedding is in March, I am sure the cocktail hour will not make it on the patio.

THANKS!!!

Hi hall twin..

I was thinking about a cigar roller as well and just finish booking with La Rosa Cubana. They said they have done numerous events at Douglaston both indoors and outdoors.

Hey girls --

Forgot to let you know that at my last visit to the Douglaston they told me that they make up the bathroom baskets - so that is one less thing for us to worry about.

HTH!!

We had votives on the cocktail hour tables. BUT, that was because I supplied a TON of votives for them to put on the tables as well as anywhere else they saw fit.

Strange... I actually asked that question in one of our last meetings and they told me they didn't. But to be honest, I never used the bathrooms downstairs all night. I kept going up to the bridal suite. So they could have been there and I never would have known!
