Re: ~OFFICIAL DOUGLASTON MANOR THREAD~

Well I'm glad to hear more positive stories about the Cocktail Hour ! I'm just going to make sure that I express my concerns as the time gets closer ! We should have a little over 100 people, so the smaller better.

@ Picescutie2002 - I also went with the complete package with Ariana & thought taxes were included and that it was an 'all inclusive' package - Not happy to hear that you had to pay tax on your invitations !! Do you remember the name of the Limo company that Ariana used for your wedding day? FM me if you don't want to post it,. I need to get in touch with them to find out what companies they use.

The flowers from Cress were beautiful !

Are there any 11ers and 12ers who aren't on the official list on page 1? I cannot believe there are no 2012 DM brides.

Let me know if you are booked with them so I can add you!

Re: ~OFFICIAL DOUGLASTON MANOR THREAD~

It really makes me upset that some brides received much more from the DM than others. I am going to look into this. Thanks for your mini-review.

Me too! But I found myself stewing over it when in fact, I had a great wedding AND I don't think anything can be done after the fact. So, it's in my best interest to let it go but you have the advantage of learning thru this board. Feel free to ask me anything. I've been thru it and can see what others are getting promised or not, and now I know what I should have asked for etc.

They supplied some... for example, the candles in the 'fireplace' and candles in the bridal suite.

Yes, they did put candles there but I didn't get all the tea lights for my tables, the cake tables etc.

My only other complaint was with cascon bakery. I'm going to try and post photos of the cake I got and what my cake was supposed to look like. The cake tasted great which is important but i was dissapointed in how it looked. When i went to cascon bakery i brought a picture of a cake i really liked and he said he could do that exact cake. The first picture is what he said it would look like and the second picture is whati got, it looked compressed. I'm blaming douglaston manor for this but it was very dissapointing to see.
.

OK, dvw30, I found the pic of your cake and will try to post it under here. I also see in your mini review, the one you wanted. They captured the look but as I warned, if you scroll back on here a few pages, they tend to make it short and squat. Of course, you already had your wedding when I wrote that.

I made a number of trips to the DM and took pics and saw a cake there I would not have wanted. I posted this all if you go back on this site. I asked for a taller cake and added an extra tier. I will post that cake and mine as well.

DM brides, unless you like the short, squat look, make sure to ask for a taller cake and not to flatten the buttercream which makes it look like wet cement.
Below: dvw30 cake that she wasn't able to post
The cake I saw there that was short and squat
My cake which I asked to be taller and added a 4th tier to avoid that look

Piscescutie2002 -- Seeing your cake before my wedding made me ask Cascon to add another tier, so thank you! I LOVED my cake!

Re: ~OFFICIAL DOUGLASTON MANOR THREAD~

I have my TTD session tomorrow at a farm but I am not trashing my dress. In fact, my photographer is calling it an Unbridled session now. Wearing my dress again but this time in the Autumn with a farm/country chic background. Made two signs: 6 months later... and Pick ur own kisses and hugs. Pumpkins, sitting on back of an old Chevy Pick up, Hay etc. My hair will be down too.

This is a great way to get back into your dress again since it all goes by so fast on your wedding day. Then I will put the Fall photo of 6 months later... at the end of my wedding album.

BTW, this was my CH ice sculpture that tends to be standard.

Re: ~OFFICIAL DOUGLASTON MANOR THREAD~

In order to post pics on here, they have to be sized down to 60K or less. Not sure what software you have, in Photoshop I size it down or if it says save for the web. Good Luck.
